Chapter 220: Chapter 220: Bestow Marriage (3)

Thump thump thump, a sequence of knocks on the door interrupted Feng Xuxu.

"Come in," a clear voice called out from within.

Pushing the door open, Yingsu entered the room and, standing in front of the desk, spoke to Miss, "Miss, Prince Mei’s personal guard Di An requests an audience outside the courtyard."

"Tian Yi?" Feng Xuxu found these two words unusually familiar, and it wasn’t until then that she recalled the man at Zuiyun Building who had secretly commented on her being overweight. A devilishly peculiar smile crept onto her face. Brushing against her own hand, she pondered how she might play with him.

"Miss?" Yingsu, seeing her miss’s strange expression, felt a chill run down her spine and called out softly.

"Hmm? Oh, bring him in." Feng Xuxu suddenly snapped back to reality and addressed Yingsu.

Yingsu darted out of the study in a few strides. Why did it feel like the miss was becoming increasingly dangerous? Greeting courteously, she made her way to the courtyard.

"Please, follow me. Our miss is waiting in the study!" she said to the handsome and tall man standing before her.

"En, thank you for showing the way," Tian Yi, with an unconstrained smile, responded to Yingsu. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Yingsu nodded at him and led the way to the study. After knocking a few times, she pushed the door open and entered, then Yingsu turned and exited the room.

Tian Yi stood in front of the desk, quietly observing Feng Xuxu. He noticed her looking down at the drawings in her hand and secretly heaved a sigh of relief. If only he had known that Feng Xuxu would become his future mistress, he would have never offended her. At that time, he had even mocked her for being fat. He wondered if his future mistress still remembered those past events. Ah, it was so nerve-wracking.

Seeing that his future mistress had not made a sound, Tian Yi shifted from quietly observing to openly staring at her. Despite Feng Xuxu trying her best to ignore him, she couldn’t help but feel the burning intensity of his gaze.

"What, don’t recognize me?" Feng Xuxu turned her gaze towards Tian Yi unexpectedly.

Caught in the act, Tian Yi blushed awkwardly, "Recognize, how could I not recognize the princess?

"Oh~ Have I gotten fatter or slimmer?" She asked, arching an eyebrow and curving her lips.

"Hehehe, just right. Just right," he chuckled sheepishly, his eyes darting around. He thought to himself that he would rather die than return, unsure whether the princess was angry or not. Her ambiguous attitude was truly frightening.

"En, what matter brings you here?" Placing down the scroll in her hand, she picked up the teacup from the table and gently sipped it, then furrowed her brows, realizing the tea had gone cold. She had been so busy she had forgotten everything else. Chuckling softly, she placed the teacup aside and looked up, waiting for Tian Yi to speak.

"Princess, our master sent a few skilled female guards personally to attend to you, to prevent any harm from villains," Tian Yi said respectfully to the princess.

"Where are they?" She leaned in to listen, not sensing anyone outside the door.

"They are tidying up their belongings in the residence and will arrive shortly."

"En, if I were to request your master to hand you over to me, do you think he would..." Feng Xuxu suddenly found this idea quite pleasing and asked Tian Yi.

Tian Yi’s eyes widened suddenly as he looked at Feng Xuxu, feeling his mood plummet. Surely this didn’t even need asking—the Prince had already given his years of savings and manpower to the princess. Giving up himself would be a trivial matter. Thus, with a pained expression, he said, "Princess, you see, I’m not articulate. Having me would be of no use to you. You might consider Di An instead, you know, the head accountant. He’s very sharp and quick with numbers. He could be really helpful to you, truly, I wouldn’t dare deceive the princess."

Far away in the Prince Residence, Di An sneezed several times, perplexed as he rubbed his nose. Looking outside, the weather hadn’t changed; could someone be speaking ill of him? He stretched his hand to rub the back of his neck and, feeling frustrated, began to fiddle with his abacus.

Feng Xuxu fought back a smile; was she really that frightening? "So you mean to say you wouldn’t want to come to me?"

Upon hearing this, Tian Yi’s head began shaking like a rattle-drum, his mouth blurting out, "Not at all, I couldn’t be happier, why wouldn’t I be willing?" his inner thoughts were, I genuinely don’t dare to come for fear of being chastised.

"En, that’s fine then. I’ll call for you when I’m short on people. Oh, and bring Di An along," Feng Xuxu said, seeing that Tian Yi was drenched in sweat, and decided not to tease him further before allowing him to leave.

Watching Tian Yi leave, she finally stood up and stretched her limbs.

"Miss, your meal has already been prepared," Baihe approached her as she came out of the study.

"En, I’m indeed hungry." Saying so, she made her way to the dining hall.

Prince Mei Residence

Just coming out of the accounting room, Di An saw Tian Yi rushing toward the Prince’s study and waited with curiosity outside the study, planning to join him for lunch after he emerged.

"Prince, Mei, Lan, Zhu, Ju have already moved over," he said while entering the study, reverently addressing the Prince.

"En, didn’t the princess have any message for you to convey?" Dugu Chen glanced at Tian Yi, noting his distracted gaze, and subtly inquired.

"Nothing," Tian Yi replied, as sweat slowly crept down his forehead, his insides turmoil, fearing more questions from his master. The quicker he wanted this to be over, the more time seemed to drag.

Dugu Chen, seeing Tian Yi’s odd behavior, inquired with a furrowed brow, "What did the princess ask you when you went there?"

"Master, the princess said that she’d call for me and Di An when she was short on people!" Tian Yi omitted the details of the conversation in the middle, dreading that his master might become impulsive and dispatch him there, leaving him in tears.

"Di An?" Dugu Chen’s voice rose a bit, startling Di An waiting outside for lunch.

Di An’s ears twitched, thinking he was being called. He pushed open the door and entered the study, "Master?"

Dugu Chen looked from Di An to Tian Yi, then set a cold gaze on Tian Yi, "Tell me exactly what happened, don’t leave anything out."

Tian Yi closed his eyes and recounted word for word what had been said between him and Feng Xuxu, not daring to let his gaze drift toward his master, as he awaited the impending wrath.

Di An stared at Tian Yi, dumbfounded. No wonder he had been sneezing for no reason—it turned out this fool had been speaking ill of him behind his back. His heart itched with resentment and he waited to exact revenge once they were alone.
