Universal Sign-in: Ascending to Godhood With My 10x Rewards!-Chapter 37: The Age of Awakeners?

Heh.
I began to hop from Ferin to Ferin, stepping on their heads and breaking their skulls as I did. The Exp count kept rising.
Partially absorbed by the exhilarating stream of Exp, I failed to properly hear the faint sound of a chuckle, just beside me.
And by the time I heard it, turning my neck, it was already a bit too late.
Marcus stood on a flying Ferin, just beside me, grinning as if I stole from him.
Yeah, I stole your move.
I frowned.
So what?
But his eyes weren’t focused on me. Instead, he stared down below, amusement painted on his expression.
I traced his gaze, and down below, Jericho’s figure advanced, running from the monsters that attacked him at the mall entrance.
Just at the entrance, there, a packed duffel bag, filled to the brim, lay unmoving.
Suddenly, Jericho jumped high as he widely outstretched both of his arms.
In his open palms, light gathered.
Jericho clapped his hands together and clenched his fists. Suddenly, the light wrapped around his fists.
Oh, damn.
Just then, Jericho began his assault, punching and killing every monster that approached him with brutal efficiency.
"What are you looking at?" Marcus asked, making me turn my head.
Marcus was already in front of me, killing off the monsters in the air. He looked back, flashing a mischievous smile.
I scowled.
Shit.
My Exp.
"Hmm." I hummed.
Yup
I nodded.
Time to go crazy.
I jumped from the Ferin I currently stood on, and I dived downward, squinting my eyes.
As I descended, various Ferins zoomed past me in my vision, but I ignored them all.
And just when it seemed like I was about to fall hard on the ground, I roughly clenched the talon of an unsuspecting Ferin.
Screech––!
I swung myself, hitting and crushing its head with my elbow as I jumped from its falling body.

I landed on the ground.
Immediately, I moved my neck, surveying the ground below.
Ah.
Finally, I spotted what I was searching for.
My steel pipe. I threw it earlier.
I ran toward it and picked it up.
Pew!
As I clenched the steel pipe, I turned toward the direction of that noise that sounded like a launched missile navigating the air.
I narrowed my eyes.
It was Jericho.
He held one hand with the other, stretching out his index finger and coating it with light, and he shot at the Ferins that gathered him with that light.
It didn’t kill most of them, but it definitely stunned them as they fell to the ground, barely alive but twitching and screeching lazily.
I didn’t even bother to look up at Marcus as the Ferins still dropped from the sky.
You know what?
I unclenched the steel pipe. My blood became cool, running at normal temperature, and my feral smirk faded.
That’s enough.
I walked toward the filled duffel bag.
I don’t even feel like I’m hunting anymore.
As I reached the bag, I looked down at it.
It was filled to the brim with resources. Not just food, first aid and other important stuff.
At least they were smart enough not to bring only food.
Although all the cans and containers in here were dented and bent. It made sense that these dust-filled things wouldn’t escape degradation as the building literally collapsed.
I raised the bag, putting it over my shoulder.
Once more, I stared at Jericho and Marcus as they took down the monsters efficiently.
I smiled bitterly.
Is this what you wanted, universe?
The age of awakeners?
I slowly shook my head.
I wanted to say a curse word out loud, but I’ve learned to keep my mouth shut. Don’t know what activates the ’word of a guardian’ skill.
Who knows? If I say ’fuck me’, then the universe might happily comply and make me pregnant?
Thinking about that made me shiver.
"Well, that’s enough hunting for today," I muttered. "Tomorrow is another day. We can turn here into our camping spot, and I can get Exp every single day."
We’d been here for more than twenty minutes already.
"Hey, guys!" I screamed aloud.
Both Marcus from above and Jericho from below turned to look at me, simultaneously asking, "What?!"
"Time to go!" I yelled.
"The fuck you mean?!"
"I uh... I still have to get the hang of my newfound strength!"
I frowned.
Well, fuck me.
"Tomorrow’s another day! We have to get going now!" I screamed.
Not gonna lie, I don’t even wanna leave. I want to stay and hunt some more.
But at the rate things are going, I’ll not get many kills, and these guys will do everything. Not even because they need Exp like me. But because they need to ’get the hang’ of their powers.
"Tch."
I’m the one who wants to stay the most.
But we need to go back and make a proper plan. One that takes the extent of all our capabilities into consideration and deliver roles to each of us, to ensure smooth hunting next time.
And, of course, I’m going to make it all in my favor.
So we really have to go.
Immediately, Marcus landed on the ground, just before me. Dust soared around him as he stood up.
"Don’t you feel it too, Duz?" Marcus asked.
"Feel what?"
As he heard and saw our conversation, Jericho walked toward us.
"The ’energy’ we experienced moving around our bodies while we slept. I feel it surrounding me. I feel like I can control it. That’s how I’m making the light stronger, the more energy I concentrate into it, the stronger the light becomes."
Marcus nodded. "Exactly. That energy. I feel it enhances my strength the more I control it."
I should really find a subtle way to tell them it’s ’mana’ without outright saying it.
They sound so dumb.
"And you’re right, I’m getting exhausted already. That’s why I jumped down. We need to go." Marcus said.
Finally.
I nodded, staring at Jerry. "And you, Jerry?"
Jerry nodded. "Actually, I’m getting exhausted too."
I adjusted the bag well on my shoulder.
"Let’s go then. We continue tomorrow." I declared a we made our way out.
The screeching sounds reduced drastically, and the Ferins, sensing the death of hundreds of their own, retreated.
We all walked away from the mall, resolving our hearts to come back the next day.
