Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 330: THE LOVE FOR HER
River was woken up in the middle of the night. She was panting as panic engulfed her. She immediately looked around and found Ranon’s sleeping face; only then did she realize that she had had a nightmare.
Ranon was sleeping next to her, with one arm placed over her stomach, while his face was against her neck. He was fast asleep.
Gently, River caressed his face. In this dimly lit room, she watched him sleeping peacefully, the rise and fall of his chest, and how his warm breath caressed her bare shoulder. He was finally sated after he moved Ashlyn to her bedroom, when she had fallen asleep.
He wanted his woman for his own tonight.
"Damn, what kind of good thing have I done to have you in both of my lives?"
In her low moment, River thought it would be impossible for Ranon to recognize her when she returned to her body. Or even if she tried, the complicated things that surrounded her identity as River would make it hard for her to win him over.
River used to console herself that as long as she could see her daughter alive and well, she wouldn’t mind continuing her life without them. However, it felt so empty when she imagined her future without Ranon and Ashlyn.
Yet, who would have imagined that Ranon would recognize her almost right away and everything would be very smooth?
But this only gave her more anxiety, because everything was too good to be true. She wondered if she deserved to accept this peaceful life.
River was afraid if she allowed herself to be too happy, then all the bad things would come without her knowing, as she let her guard down.
It was so pitiful that River was scared to be happy, but that was what she felt.
The night was quiet, and from the window, River saw the bright moon and the city lights. She loved this place, but they had been talking about having a house with a backyard for Ashlyn. They wouldn’t have a swimming pool, though, since Ashlyn was afraid of it, and she was still in therapy for her trauma.
Secretly, River also agreed with that decision. Somehow, when she saw a huge amount of water, her heart would beat fast.
Being drowned twice was more than enough for River to develop her own trauma. Now she refused to have a swimming pool or go near it.
However, she loved the idea of having a backyard.
When she was thinking about how ridiculous it was for her to learn how to do the gardening, she saw Ranon’s phone light up.
At first, she ignored it, but then she realized there was someone who messaged Ranon rapidly at this hour.
She contemplated waking Ranon up, but eventually, she decided not to do it and got off the bed to check his phone.
She knew Ranon’s screen lock, and Ranon didn’t mind her seeing his phone; in fact, he had been aware that Hazel had bugged his phone for a long time and said nothing...
Checking his phone was less offensive, right?
River expected to see important messages related to work from Lucian or Ares, since the two of them had been strongly against Ranon and River being together.
It was even harder for River to get close to Lucian this time, since he knew her background. Thankfully, Lucian abandoned his plan to introduce Ranon to women after River’s threat.
However, when River saw the rapid messages, her brows shot up. She didn’t expect this at all, because it was not Lucian or Ares, but Ema instead.
Ema sent Ranon messages about how she was worried about Ranon and how difficult it was for her to get his new number because Ranon had blocked her and changed his phone number.
The messages became even crazier with Ema’s pleas for Ranon to talk to her and leave River.
"A bitch? A side chick?" River was in disbelief when she saw the way Ema addressed her in her desperate messages. "This woman is courting her death." River hissed viciously.
She then directed her eyes at Ranon, who was still blissfully sleeping.
Suddenly, the phone vibrated. There was an incoming call from Ema. She tried to call when she thought Ranon had received her messages and read them.
[I know you are still awake. Please pick up your phone. We need to talk.]
But because there was no reply, and when she called again Ranon didn’t pick it up, Ema sent another message.
[Ranon, let me prove myself to you. I don’t want anything else; I only want you. I will agree to whatever you want. I will leave everything behind. I know I am wrong, but there is no luxury that can compare to being with you.]
River rolled her eyes. This woman was so dramatic to the bone. What did she mean by that? Did she want to live in poverty with Ranon? Did she really think Ranon would leave behind everything he had worked hard for only for her?
"She is mental," River grumbled, but she couldn’t put the phone down, because reading Ema’s desperate messages somehow was very entertaining. She sat down on the sofa and read them all, while cursing at her in between or chuckling at what she said.
She felt very idle.
"What are you doing?"
River was too engrossed with Ema’s messages; she didn’t even realize that Ranon had woken up because she was not beside him.
He noticed that River was holding his phone, reading something on it, but he couldn’t care less. There was nothing interesting in there, only boring things about work that he didn’t want to read once he was at home.
Yet, River looked amused with whatever she found there.
"What are you reading?" Ranon watched River get up from the sofa and approach him. She sat on his lap and showed the messages to him.
His brows creased.
"She is crazily in love with you," River teased him. She ground her body against his with a coquettish smile. Her intention was very clear. "Aren’t you flattered because of her dedication to having you back?"
Ranon shifted his attention from the text and looked at River.
"Don’t you want to have her back?" River became even wilder as she pushed Ranon down with her body on top of his. "Answer me."
"You know the answer, love," Ranon replied with a hoarse voice. River must be able to feel how hard he was.
"Prove it; how are you going to deal with it?" River shook the phone in her hand. Right at that time, Ema was trying to call Ranon again. "She is tenacious, isn’t she?"
Ranon flipped River’s body, and now he was on top of her. River looked surprised, but her expectant eyes watched closely what Ranon was going to do.
But then, to River’s surprise, Ranon picked up the call. But then, he put the phone away.
Faintly, River could hear Ema’s voice calling for Ranon. She sounded excited that her call was finally being picked up. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Yet, Ranon put all of his attention on the woman in front of him. He stared at her eyes deeply, to the point River felt as if he could see through her soul.
"I love you," Ranon said softly. He smiled gently when he placed his hand over her chest and started to kiss River’s forehead, down to her nose and both of her eyes.
Ranon wanted to make sure River knew how much he loved her, how much he cherished his moment with her.
Both of them realized a long time ago that their moment together was not always about sex; it was the feeling that they felt whenever they were close to each other. The solace from the noisy world out there.
River gasped when Ranon caressed the side of her body. She tried to move her body, but Ranon stopped her.
"Let me make love to you."
River then glanced at the phone next to them; Ema was still on the other end; she was listening.
But Ranon pinched her chin and tilted her head so River could look at him. "Focus on me, River."
River then realized what Ranon was doing. Ema had tried to fool her twice by insinuating that she had sex with Ranon in the past, but of course, River knew none of those were true.
And now, Ranon did make love to her, while Ema was listening to them.
"Eyes on me, love." Ranon leaned over and kissed her lips as he placed himself between her legs. His body was so warm, and his voice was heavy with need and affection.
Ranon kissed her chin, down to her neck, and nibbled on her collarbones. And when he went down on her, River forgot about the fact that Ema was still listening to them.
For River and Ranon, they didn’t do it to get back at Ema for what she had done in the past, because once their bodies tangled together, the only thing in their minds was the other person’s pleasure and comfort.
At first, they did want to be petty, but a minute later, it didn’t matter anymore. It was their world that they cared about.
As they made love, everything else was fading away.
On the other end of the phone, Ema, who had been forgotten, was crying so hard, calling for Ranon as she listened to the voices that they made or the sweet words that Ranon whispered to River.
It broke her heart with every second she listened to them, but she couldn’t bring herself to end the call.
