Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 287: IT BECAME PERSONAL
Someone was taking away Hazel’s rings. A thief? It puzzled Ranon because a thief would be the least of his worries. None of the people around the house tended to steal something.
What the fuck was going on?
"Ranon, if I were you, I would not do it this way." Daniel had stopped cursing at his brother; now he looked very composed, but this only meant he had more up his sleeve. "You will regret this. You are going to lose."
Ranon glanced at him as he stared at the red dot that moved faster. That person is driving? Riding? Definitely, they were not running, since it wouldn’t be this fast.
"What? Do you sense something is not right?" Daniel caught the change in Ranon’s expression. He didn’t conceal it well. "I told you; I don’t come this far without any preparation."
Finally, Ranon acknowledged his existence. He lifted his head and looked at his brother with a cold stare. However, he said nothing, and then he made a phone call to the people at home. None of them picked up the call.
Thereafter, he made a phone call to the head of his security.
"There is nothing wrong here, but I will check upstairs," he said. Soon enough, he reported what happened there. "All of them are unconscious."
"What about my daughter?" Ranon asked. His voice was eerily calm.
"She is not... she is not here." Even through the phone, you could feel the fear of the head of Ranon’s security, because he knew that he had failed miserably with his job.
Ranon didn’t listen to him anymore and hung up so he could call his wife.
Currently, Hazel was in ninth place, and it was already midnight. Her patience had run very thin. She knew there was something not right, but she couldn’t put her finger on it.
Suddenly, her phone rang, and it was Ranon. Her eyes lit up to see his name on the screen, and she immediately picked it up on the second ring.
"I miss you," she said, since she was bored out of her mind, but Ranon’s reply blew her mind away instead.
"Ashlyn is missing."
Hazel stood up. The playful smile on her lips disappeared in an instant. It was almost like it had never been there. "What happened?" Even her voice was as cold as the night.
Ranon then filled Hazel in about what he had just learned.
The more Hazel listened to Ranon, the colder her expression became. And when her husband was done with the explanation, her voice was eerily calm.
"Check the tracker that you put on my ring. Tell me where it is." Hazel then marched toward Desgar’s car. They had been shadowing her for the whole day.
Hazel was not clueless. She had been wondering how Ranon always knew where she was. At first, when Arthur kidnapped her.
She thought it was incredible of him to know where she was in less than a day. She had her suspicion, but then she gave it to good luck.
But the second time, it couldn’t be good luck.
It was when Ranon managed to find her in the Lozen family’s house. There was no way he would know she was there. It was not a coincidence.
And if Ranon put a tapper in her bedroom, Hazel wouldn’t put it past him that he would put a tracker on her.
The only items she had with her on both occasions were her rings. She had never taken off her engagement and wedding rings. She didn’t need to prove it. She had always known it, and now, in this situation, it was confirmed.
Hazel couldn’t even be angry with Ranon because she was damn mad about her missing daughter. But then, even if they kept tabs on each other, she was not innocent, either.
"Get out," Hazel said as she opened the car door and forced Lucian to get out from behind the wheel.
"What happened?" Lucian was confused. He got out of the car and immediately went to sit in the backseat with Elric and Alen, while Desgar was in the shotgun seat.
"They got my daughter." Hazel’s knuckles turned white as she gripped the wheel very tightly. She was still on the phone with Ranon as he gave her the instructions about where they took their daughter.
"What? How?" Lucian was shocked, and so were the rest of the people inside the car.
However, Hazel tuned them out, as she only put her focus on the direction that Ranon gave to her.
"I don’t think you can drive, Hazel..." Lucian immediately realized how erratically Hazel was driving. "You will get us killed before we can save your daughter."
***
It took everything in Ranon not to jump into the car and give chase to his daughter. He gripped the phone in his hand tightly as he spoke with Hazel calmly, while Daniel realized what had happened, and he tried to make a phone call.
However, Ranon saw his movement. He threw a knife, which landed only a centimeter away from his hand.
"Make a move, and I will make sure you will go back to live your life in that damn wheelchair," Ranon said. All of his hesitation and regret for how their situation turned this way had disappeared.
He could kill Daniel without any remorse at all if he could get his daughter back. Daniel had crossed the line. He could understand if he put the target on his head, but to aim at his daughter...
"Hurt me and they will hurt your daughter too."
On the other hand, Hazel listened to the conversation. And she said coldly. "Punch him for me, Ranon."
Ranon stood up and then walked toward Daniel. He punched him straight in his face, just like what his wife wanted.
But he was not done yet; the second punch was personally from him.
"You become more and more like Denzel." Ranon then focused on giving another direction to Hazel. She was an hour behind, but it was a good thing that they were still moving.
Right at that moment, Dalton knocked on the door and informed Ranon that Arthur had come with the woman.
"They are here. Do you want me to take them here to this room?" Dalton asked, but he didn’t have any idea about what happened.
"Yes. Bring them here."
It was the twins who dragged Issabella in. This was the first time Ranon saw the woman that his brother loved so much, to the point that he was willing to do everything for her.
Issabella had short, red hair with striking green eyes. Her lips were chapped, and she was still wearing the hospital gown with her name tag on her wrist.
Daniel immediately reacted when he saw her. He jumped from the bed and was about to reach for the woman, but Ranon kicked him down.
"Tie both of them." Ranon glanced at Issabella to check her reaction when he kicked Daniel, but she showed no emotion.
According to the information that Rize sent him, Issabella had been in and out of a mental institution since her sister’s suicide. She was the one who found Kyra’s body, and it messed with her head.
There had been a few occasions when she had episodes. Rize guessed that Issabella was having one when she and Daniel were in the car at the time of the accident.
"Do you want to kill her?" Daniel lifted his head. He tried to fight the twins when they tied him up to the bed.
But he couldn’t do any self-defense. Even if he could, it would be a great piece of luck if he could take down the room full of mercenaries.
"Kill her and be done with it. She is as good as dead!" Daniel taunted Ranon, but his eyes didn’t lie. He dreaded his woman’s safety, just like Ranon for his girls.
"No, you will watch her being tortured." Ranon then walked out of the room, and Arthur followed him.
"Who will do the torture?" Arthur asked once they were outside the room.
Ranon tilted his head. "You, or your men—I don’t care who will do it—I want that woman to beg to be killed." Ranon heard Hazel curse. She wanted to do the torture. "You know the drill. Don’t ask me. Do you need pointers?"
"I don’t torture a woman," Arthur said grimly.
However, Ranon put Hazel on the speaker as she yelled at Arthur. "This is not the right time to put your moral compass, you dimwit! Get it done!"
Arthur was taken aback by how aggressive Hazel was. "They took our daughter," Ranon explained, which indeed explained Hazel’s outburst.
From the background, Ranon could hear Lucian pleading with Hazel to slow down. Ranon had told him to go home, but he decided to tag along.
"How close am I?" Hazel asked, and Ranon turned around to walk away from Arthur.
"Around fifteen minutes." Ranon closed his eyes. "Can you handle this?"
"I can. I will get our daughter back," Hazel replied as she focused on driving. Desgar didn’t say anything, even though Alen and Elric joined Lucian, trying to persuade Hazel to slow down.
Fifteen minutes...
Hazel made it ten minutes when she saw the familiar car. It was Logan’s. That motherfucker tried to kidnap her daughter.
He had other plans.
No. This was the plan from the beginning. They wanted to inflict so much pain rather than killing Ranon right away.
This mission had become very personal now. Hazel wondered if Ranon’s plan would still work...
