Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Annie

The happiest person about Seraphina Sinclair and Desmond Fairchild’s plan to adopt Pomelo is Jude Sinclair.

He really wants to quickly share the news with Pomelo to put her mind at ease.

However, Desmond Fairchild stops him: "Things aren’t settled yet, so it’s better not to say anything for now."

If something unexpected happens, it would disappoint Pomelo for nothing.

Jude agrees with this point and doesn’t mention it anymore, thinking Desmond is right; it’s best to wait until everything is settled before telling Pomelo.

"Alright, we’ve talked about what needed discussing and done what needed doing. Isn’t it time for you to bathe and sleep?" Seraphina glanced at the time; it was nearly ten o’clock. Kids should ideally sleep before nine, and Jude Sinclair has always been self-disciplined, never making her worry, which is something she takes great pride in.

"Goodnight, Dad and Mommy." With everything going as he hoped, Jude was in such a good mood that he skipped out of the room on his little legs.

Seraphina couldn’t help but smile at his lively and adorable manner: "It’s rare to see him so happy, he really is too cute."

"Everything my wife says is right." Desmond’s lips curved up indulgently, his big hands ruffling Seraphina’s little head, "The son is asleep, shouldn’t we be resting too?"

Seraphina took off her watch and jewelry, smiled at Desmond, "I’m going to take a shower; if you’re impatient, go wash in your own room."

"When my wife is showering, I can wait no matter how long it takes." Desmond lay on the bed in a flirtatious posture, clearly intending to wait for Seraphina to come out of the shower.

"In recent days, you haven’t learned much else but have picked up quite the rogue vibe." Seraphina sighed helplessly; once a domineering CEO, now a bit of a flirt in front of her—whose fault was that?

Though she didn’t dislike this side of Desmond, finding him even more endearing like this, she still sometimes felt shy when being teased.

Desmond withheld any comment.

He indeed learned a lot from Quentin Jennings, but never used any tricks with Seraphina, only acted on instinct.

At night, the two slept in each other’s arms. Watching Seraphina’s peaceful sleeping face, Desmond felt an unprecedented sense of calm.

Seraphina felt the same. She used to be plagued by nightmares when she slept; lying beside Desmond, she could finally sleep soundly.

As the sky slowly brightened, when Seraphina awoke, Desmond’s presence was already absent, and the spot where Desmond had been lying had lost its warmth.

She looked up at the clock, finding it was only seven in the morning.

Why did this man wake up so early? Could it be that something happened at the company again?

Yawning widely, Seraphina slowly climbed out of bed.

A new day with a new beginning and new hope; with her man working so hard, she certainly couldn’t fall behind.

"Chloe, don’t bother making breakfast, I’m heading out to eat." Seraphina said while brushing her teeth.

Chloe Irving smiled and said, "Ma’am, are you in a hurry too? Breakfast is already prepared; why not eat a little before leaving?"

"Why are you all up so early? What have you made, let me see." Although Chloe got up early, Seraphina didn’t expect breakfast to be ready by seven.

She went to the dining room and found both Western and Chinese breakfasts, filling up a large table.

"Chloe, next time don’t go to such trouble; just make something casual. They’re not picky eaters." Seeing the table full of breakfast, Seraphina shook her head helplessly, feeling they’ve been excessively pampered.

Chloe laughed indifferently, "It’s okay, ma’am; none of this will be wasted, you can rest assured."

"Waste not, want not—or rather, money isn’t the issue here, but we can’t let them develop picky eating habits, particularly the two children. They must maintain good nutrition; don’t refrain from making it just because they won’t eat it. You must insist they eat it."

Kids always tend to be picky eaters, which Seraphina knows all too well, having been one herself.

Especially Pomelo, who’s had a tough life and is now battling leukemia. Despite many dietary restrictions, there are still plenty of nutritious foods. Seraphina must instruct Chloe to ensure Pomelo eats the nutritious but disliked foods.

Chloe understood Seraphina’s intentions, repeatedly agreeing: "Rest assured, ma’am; I’ll definitely make sure to keep Pomelo healthy and thriving."

"I trust you." With a piece of bread in her mouth, Seraphina told Chloe, "I’m heading out now. Take good care of the kids and call me if anything comes up."

After speaking, Seraphina swiftly disappeared from Chloe’s sight.

Chloe couldn’t help but laugh. Recently, the lady’s mood has significantly improved, and she seems increasingly vivacious, exuding a youthful aura, quite unlike a child’s mother.

Seraphina herself didn’t notice any changes, but everyone around her did, seeing her in really good spirits.

Irene Rowe particularly kept an eye on her every move.

Seeing her humming a tune and stepping into the office, Irene couldn’t resist teasing: "Boss, is your mood really that good lately? It’s quite a contrast to before. Why is that? Could it be the power of love?"

"Irene Rowe, don’t you have any work to do? If you’re really bored and looking for gossip, I could arrange some tasks for you." Although Seraphina shot Irene a glare, her mouth curled up slightly, still in a good mood.

"Oh, boss, we’re alone now; you don’t need to maintain that stern face with me. Come on, tell me, what’s up with you and President Fairchild? Are you close to getting the certificate?"

As both a friend and subordinate, Irene was very concerned about Seraphina’s love life.

Speaking of getting the certificate, Seraphina instead asked about Irene: "You mentioned the other day you were going to get the certificate with Austin White, why hasn’t there been any progress recently? Is it not sorted with your parents?"

"Don’t even mention it; my mom immediately threw a fit upon hearing about it, saying that while dating is fine, marriage must be considered carefully, especially marrying a much younger man requires even more caution." Speaking of her own matters, Irene’s face instantly fell.

It seems she and Austin have quite a road ahead.

Just getting past her mother is already difficult.

Seraphina nodded in understanding: "If I were your mother, I would tell you the same thing. It’s not that Austin isn’t a good guy, but I’m not really supportive of the marriage matter, not because I’m against you being together, but simply because it’s still too soon."

"Boss, do you also think Austin and I won’t last until the end?" Irene asked, her expression darkening, as she forced a bitter smile.

Seraphina gently shook her head, softly explaining: "I don’t doubt you guys; it’s just that marriage is not something to be trifled with, and cautious consideration is correct. But being young, he might not yet have the responsibilities of a man. After marriage, he’ll soon have to take on roles as a husband and father, things he probably hasn’t thought about yet. You get what I’m saying, right?"
