Tyrannical Tycoon Haunts Me Relentlessly-Chapter 504: Never Able to See Through Him (9)
The next morning, Old Madam was allowed to leave the medical room.
Gu Lingqian and Xia Yinian had been waiting outside the medical room early, and when they saw Old Master pushing Old Madam out, they both went up to greet them.
"Grandma." Xia Yinian called out sweetly, "Are you going for a walk? I’ll join you."
"I’ll come with you too," Gu Lingqian said, walking alongside her, his hand on her shoulder.
Old Madam saw the affectionate demeanor between the two and a gleam of joy sparkled in her eyes.
She looked back at Old Master, "You hardly slept last night. Go back and rest. Ling Qian and Nian Nian will keep me company."
Old Master hesitated, but eventually left.
Old Master, although sometimes harsh in his dealings, had always maintained a good attitude towards Old Madam.
He truly cared about Old Madam, and because of this care, Xia Yinian suddenly felt like she didn’t hate him that much anymore.
A person with kindness, even if cruel at times, still possesses a compassionate side.
With Old Master gone to rest, Xia Yinian, pushing Old Madam’s wheelchair, and Gu Lingqian walked towards the back garden.
Today the backyard was very quiet, a place particularly favored by Old Madam, because she liked it, Old Master had decreed it must be kept quiet.
Even the servants took extra care while working here, trying their best not to make unnecessary noise to avoid disturbing Old Madam’s mood.
Especially since Old Madam had vomited blood last night, everyone was even more cautious now.
"Nian Nian, have you been in touch with your family recently?" Old Madam suddenly asked.
Xia Yinian was startled, not quite understanding her meaning.
The Xia Family had been staying with the Gu Family until recently when they returned home, but, come to think of it, it had been a long, long time since Xia Yinian had been back to the Xia Family.
Since that last time in the hospital, when she overheard her father and grandfather speaking, and learned she was not truly a child of the Xia Family, she felt a strange aversion towards them.
However, no matter what, her father still had affection for her.
Grandpa didn’t like her, but her father had always looked out for her. Now, by not returning, she felt she was letting her father down.
"Nian Nian, sometimes, we mustn’t judge things merely by their appearances, do you understand?"
Old Madam’s words made Xia Yinian startle again. Why was Old Madam speaking in such a philosophically rich manner today?
"Grandma, do you have something you want to tell me? Please, just say it."
Solving riddles was something Xia Yinian truly wasn’t good at, and besides, if Old Madam had any pent-up feelings, she hoped she could help share the burden.
Old Madam looked towards the distant horizon for a long while before finally sighing deeply.
She didn’t look at Xia Yinian but at Gu Lingqian instead, "About the incident last time, I had someone do it. Ling Qian, please tell your uncle not to trouble that maid; she is innocent."
"Grandma!" Gu Lingqian was stunned, staring straight at her face just like Xia Yinian.
They had never imagined that Grandma was behind that incident!
They had suspected many people, Xia Yinian had even suspected Gu Feimo, but they never thought it could be Old Madam.
Grandma was responsible... God, this was simply unimaginable. If it weren’t for her admitting it herself, no one would believe it.
"Actually, Seventh already guessed it was me. Last night, we talked it over. I’m just worried he might still trouble Ah Lan. Tell him, Ah Lan is really innocent."
