Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations-Chapter 933: Watching My Father Get Arrested with My Own Eyes
"Mom, what’s going on?!"
Hailey Hale stared wide-eyed for a second, quickly unbuckled her seatbelt, and jumped out of the car, looking incredulously at the five police cars in the yard!
What could possibly require so many people?
A bad feeling spread in her heart.
Finn Morgan also quickly got out of the car, went around the vehicle to her side, and wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
Hailey glanced at him, and just as she was stepping toward the living room—
Dennis Hale was led out by several special police officers.
Hailey’s footsteps faltered. She saw her father wearing handcuffs, his expression calm, but when their eyes met, there was a hint of hidden pain in his gaze.
"Dad!!"
Hailey’s chest tightened suddenly, and she rushed toward him, looking at his hands in disbelief, "What happened?! Why are they arresting you?!"
A flash of white exploded in the girl’s mind, and she took a deep breath to calm her head.
Finn Morgan, with a pained expression, pulled Hailey into a hug, his brows furrowed deeply.
Dennis Hale didn’t know how to answer his daughter’s question.
"Did you arrest the wrong person?! My dad is the mayor! Why are you putting handcuffs on him?!"
Hailey, emotional and agitated, started shouting at the SWAT officers, "Let him go!! Quickly! Even if you need to investigate him, can’t you at least show some basic respect?!"
The officers remained unmoved, their faces righteous, performing their duties without much time to delay.
Dennis Hale held back tears of heartache, feeling he had failed his daughter.
He cast his gaze on Finn Morgan, father and son-in-law’s eyes meeting. Dennis thought, Finn likely knew, right? He wasn’t shocked, just heavily burdened with calmness.
"Finn." Dennis Hale spoke with a raspy throat, "From now on, take good care of Hailey, please."
Finn Morgan, his throat tight, replied, "Don’t worry." He nodded sadly.
This felt like a farewell message.
Hailey turned her eyes in shock, seeing from Finn’s expression that he was aware of the situation!
She couldn’t believe it, her eyes wide with disbelief, "No..." as she shook her head helplessly.
"Let’s go!"
At this moment, the officers, without politeness, pushed Dennis Hale down the steps and into the police car.
"No—! Dad!!"
Hailey instinctively wanted to chase after him, but Finn Morgan tightened his hold on her shoulder, "Hailey!" keeping her under control, "Things have come to this, calm down."
"Dad!!" The girl cried out desperately, struggling to move forward, "Don’t take my dad away!! Don’t—!"
"Finn, let go! Don’t stop me!!" She was furious, feeling like she was about to explode.
Dennis Hale did not look back, tears silently rolling down as he got into the car.
Sitting in his seat, he closed his eyes, his daughter’s helpless wails echoing painfully in his ears, filling him with endless regret.
Once they had him in the car, the door shut quickly, and one by one, the police cars drove away!
The sirens wailed past, as if announcing to the world that Dennis Hale’s era was over.
"Dad..."
Hailey cried out toward the silhouette of the cars, stomping her feet and struggling, "Why? Why is this happening?" She ultimately burst into tears.
"Hailey." Finn Morgan worried about her, holding her firmly, "Let’s go inside and check on your mom."
Because there was no sound from inside, eerily quiet.
Hailey slowly drew her thoughts back, turned her eyes to the entrance of the living room, and noticed the inside was silent.
The next second, she pulled Finn’s hand away and rushed directly inside!!
"Mom..."
Hailey saw her mother slumped beside the coffee table, tears flowing like a broken string of pearls.
Her mother’s face was full of fear, seemingly scared out of her wits.
"Mom!"
Hailey paused at the living room entrance, walking toward her, "What exactly did Dad do wrong?"
Paige looked pale, shedding tears alone, as if she hadn’t heard a thing.
