Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations-Chapter 1278: Everyone Loves Dr. Shelby
Ian is so distant towards her.
Vera couldn’t accept it; she felt as if she had been dealt another harsh blow, her mind started to wander, wondering if he had gone out to meet Jocelyn.
"A girl without a steady job, with nothing formal—what’s there to like?"
Vera couldn’t understand what charm Jocelyn possessed that could make such an excellent genius doctor fall for her.
Vera was angry, jealous, unwilling!
Loving someone is so painful, especially when that person doesn’t love you back.
"Dr. Ford." A young nurse came over, asking confusedly, "Why are you in the director’s office? The director has already left work, you won’t be able to catch him."
Vera came back to her senses; she no longer had the mental energy to work overtime, so she asked, "Are you working late today?"
"Yeah, I am!"
"Have you eaten?"
The young nurse shook her head, "No."
Vera casually grabbed the bag on the table and handed it to her, "Take this to eat, it’s fresh and hot!"
"..." The young nurse stood stunned holding the bag, didn’t even have time to say thank you as Vera left without looking back.
Her nose tingled sourly, her eyes inexplicably misty with tears, she no longer wanted to work overtime.
As long as he’s in the hospital, she’s full of energy, even if it’s just seeing him from a distance.
But once he leaves, her heart flies away with him.
Vera returned to her office angrily and took off her white coat, nearly pulling off one of the buttons as she did so. She washed her hands, combed her hair, and grabbed a red trench coat before leaving.
At the elevator entrance, she encountered a pair of patients’ family members.
"Dr. Ford, are you leaving work so early today?" The auntie, kindhearted and enthusiastic, smiled broadly.
"Yes." Vera managed a professional smile.
"That’s perfect, the two of us would like to invite you for a meal, is that alright? We’ve long wanted to express our gratitude, hoping you won’t refuse!"
It seemed they came specifically to find her.
"Dr. Ford, my old father’s illness greatly owes to your help, this meal should have been arranged long ago, but you’ve always been too busy. It’s so rare to see you not working overtime today."
"No need to be so formal." Vera politely declined, "Treating patients is our duty as doctors."
But their enthusiasm was overwhelming.
Under their most sincere invitation, Vera finally couldn’t resist.
She ultimately decided to go out for dinner with them.
In a nearby upscale restaurant, lights glittered, and the aroma of dishes wafted.
Ian and Jocelyn sat across the table from each other, having just ordered, when the waiter brought the tea over, "Enjoy your meal."
"You look prettier again." Ian looked at the girl sitting opposite him, "Today’s outfit looks great too."
"So handsome and sweet-talking!" Jocelyn exclaimed with a full smile, her heart cheerfully warm; perhaps this is the beauty in the eyes of a lover?
The two lifted their teacups and knowingly clinked lightly.
"You’ve been very busy lately, haven’t you?" Jocelyn put down the cup, gazing at him with admiration, "Do you feel physically overwhelmed?"
"It’s alright, I’ve gotten used to it, plus I usually work out." Ian’s energy was always bright.
"Don’t bring me for morning exercises anymore, get some more sleep." She genuinely felt sorry for him, noticing he’s grown thinner recently.
He must have worries too?
But she couldn’t share his burdens.
When Ian looked at her, his eyes were filled with deep affection, "How have you been lately? Is your writing going well? Is inspiration visiting you every day?"
Actually, not well, because he’s not around, she often feels restless.
But she smiled and nodded, "It’s pretty good, living well every day." Because she loves him, she doesn’t want him to worry.
Also hoping that he feels no mental burden in this relationship.
"Dr. Ford! Come sit over here! There’s a spot here!"
The two lifted their eyes and saw someone guiding Vera towards them.
