Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations-Chapter 1016: Whatโs in the Bag?
The Dalton family, during dinner.
Joan Graham was still nervous, barely daring to breathe deeply, after all, she had ventured into a forbidden area. ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ซ๐ฃ๐ธ๐ซ๐ฎ๐.๐๐๐ถ
This was something David Garcia had specifically instructed.
And the sign on the door, those four words, made her shiver just thinking about it, it was creepy.
"Whatโs wrong with you?"
David Dalton sat down in a dining chair, observing her since he came in.
Joan Graham snapped back to reality, lifted her eyes, and reluctantly mustered a faint smile, "Nothing." Then she guiltily lowered her eyes again.
"If youโre feeling unwell, you should see a doctor promptly." His tone lacked any special concern,
when Joan Graham heard this, she wasnโt particularly pleased either.
After a while, David Dalton remembered that someone had been missing from the house lately.
He also remembered the words he said to Sean Dalton in the study that day.
"Whereโs Grace?"
David Dalton finally turned his focus to her, his eyes and mind had been filled with Stella these past days.
Joan Graham lifted her chopsticks and looked up at him again, asking expectantly, "Grace took on a new drama. Sheโs been with the crew recently. Do you need her for something?"
"No."
A trace of gloom flitted across the middle-aged womanโs heart. Her son was mentally challenged, destined to accomplish nothing significant, so only Grace could inherit The Dalton Group.
But he had never asked her to join the company officially, preventing her from familiarizing herself with the business.
Joan Graham was anxious, "David, wouldnโt you want Grace to take on some of the work for you?"
"Thereโs no need." David Dalton immediately refused, "Girls donโt need to be career women; itโs good to do what they like. If she wants to act, let her act."
But Joan Graham knew he didnโt truly see Sean Dalton as his daughter, so he only provided financially and never planned her life or future.
"Iโm only worried youโll be too tired with no one to help you." Joan Graham explained, expressing her well-meaning intentions.
David Dalton continued eating, blurting out, "Whatโs Trevor doing? Isnโt he helping?"
"But he is, after all, an outsider."
David Dalton raised his eyes and met Joan Grahamโs worried gaze, causing a few seconds of frozen time.
Whether Trevor was an outsider was something only David Dalton knew clearly in his heart.
"Iโm sorry, Iโm not doubting him..." Joan Graham hastily explained, "I have no doubts about his capacity at work; I shouldnโt be concerned with company matters."
"Itโs good that you understand." David Dalton put the matter to rest and didnโt say another word about it.
After dinner, he got up and went upstairs.
But Joan Graham stayed lost in thought for a long time. She took Butler Warrenโs hand, "Mrs. Warren, havenโt you noticed Mr. Dalton became a different person lately?"
Butler Warren nodded, with a tinge of gloom flashing in her eyes.
"What should I do?" Joan Graham felt helpless, "How can I keep him? He wouldnโt mention divorce, would he?"
"With Mrs. Kingston... are they really together?" Butler Warren questioned.
She then analyzed, "Mr. Daltonโs attitude might be influenced by Mrs. Kingston. Perhaps you should find an opportunity to have a talk with Mrs. Kingston, in your capacity as Mrs. Dalton."
Being prompted like this, Joan Graham thought about it and agreed it might be the only way.
The next morning.
David Dalton left without even having breakfast. Joan Graham noticed, feeling heartache.
Again, they had slept in separate rooms last night. Though he hadnโt mentioned it, he also hadnโt let her return to the master bedroom.
Right after her husband left, a Maserati pulled into the yard.
"Maโam, the young miss has returned," Butler Warren reminded.
Joan Graham turned around and looked out towards the living room, just as the car stopped, the door opened, and her daughter got out of the car.
Sean Dalton, holding a bag, walked over.
"Hello, young miss." Butler Warren greeted respectfully.
"Mom." As she entered the living room, Sean Dalton handed the bag to her, "Take a look for yourself!"
"This... what is this?"
Seeing her daughterโs unusual expression, Joan Graham didnโt even dare to reach out and take it.
