Pretending to Be Rich

Upon hearing Fang Yuan’s words, one of the nannies sneered. “Your own money? Didn’t the Master and Madame give you money as well?”

Fang Yuan responded calmly, “Do I need to disclose where I get my money from?”

The nanny retorted, “You!”

Fang Yuan maintained her composure. “Focus on your own duties as a nanny.”

The nanny grew frustrated, unable to come up with a counterargument.

“Alright!” Fang Liguo sighed, attempting to defuse the situation. “Yuanyuan, it’s getting late. Let me walk you out.”

Fang Yuan declined, saying, “There’s no need, Mr. Fang.” She was drawing a clear boundary between them.

Song Ling sneered. This wretched girl had never experienced the hardships of a poverty-stricken life. If she wanted to distance herself now, she might end up begging on her knees for them to acknowledge her as their daughter!

“Old Master, shouldn’t you check her bag? There could be many things inside…” The nanny who had previously been admonished by Fang Yuan reminded Fang Liguo.

“That’s enough!” Fang Liguo, the wealthiest man in Haicheng City, wouldn’t stoop so low as to conduct a search even if the child had taken something. He wouldn’t subject himself to such humiliation.

Fang Yuan walked out of the gate with a bag on her back, and there was a black sedan parked in front of the house. Strangely, the car bore signs of being involved in an accident. The back cover was lifted, the body had dents, and the windshield had numerous cracks.

The driver clumsily exited the car, his eyes appearing damaged and slightly askew. He was visibly stunned when he saw Fang Yuan. The girl before him possessed arched eyebrows, starry eyes, a beautiful nose, and red lips. Her expressions were reminiscent of Madame’s in her youth. However, the girl exuded a much stronger aura than Madame ever did, with a captivating charm that could steal hearts.

“Apologies, Sixth Miss,” the driver rushed over to Fang Yuan and sincerely apologized, “I was involved in a collision with a truck and crashed into the railing. I didn’t want to waste your time, so I didn’t go home to change the car. I’ve inspected it, and there’s nothing wrong except for its appearance…”

This revelation brought forth a wave of information. Fang Yuan hailed from a poverty-stricken village, and yet she could afford a car? If she wasn’t mistaken, this was a custom-made Rolls-Royce, worth well over 100 million yuan.

Fang Yuan playfully glanced at the driver. “Sixth Miss?”

“Yes, you hold the sixth position, with five brothers above you,” the driver explained. “Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m your driver, you can call me Old Liu.”

The driver’s presence only deepened Fang Yuan’s suspicions. It seemed that her biological parents were not as the Fang Family had portrayed them.

“Sixth Miss, where is your luggage?” Old Liu asked curiously, noticing that Fang Yuan only had one bag. “Is it in the house? I can retrieve it for you.”

“No, all my belongings are right here,” Fang Yuan responded, indicating that she had nothing else to carry.

The driver nodded. “Please wait for a moment. I’ll convey my gratitude to your adoptive parents for their kindness and then take my leave.”

Having spoken, Old Liu opened the back door, inviting Fang Yuan to enter. But in the next instant, the door creaked and fell off!

It turned out that the door had been severely damaged by the earlier collision with the truck.

The Fang Family witnessed the scene unfold. Fang Jiayi was taken aback—what kind of shoddy car was this? Was the door made of paper? How embarrassing it must be for them to drive such a rundown vehicle. How destitute were they? They only had one dilapidated car, and they had to put up a façade with it.

Song Ling hadn’t anticipated that Fang Yuan’s family would be so impoverished. The car was in such disrepair, and she was still driving it? But something didn’t add up. Wasn’t Fang Yuan’s family situated in a destitute mountain valley? How could they afford a car? Perhaps she had borrowed it from someone else and encountered an accident due to her poor driving skills. If that were the case, things were about to become much more interesting. When they returned the car, they would make sure to exact a heavy price!

Fang Liguo observed the unkempt man standing before him, his suit stained with oil marks. Was he repairing a car? He seemed older, not resembling Fang Yuan’s brothers. Could he be Fang Yuan’s father? Had he rushed over from the repair factory and driven a car straight from there? If that were the case, this man must have been putting on a show of wealth in front of someone like him, a wealthy man.

Despite the Rolls-Royce emblem on the front of the car, Fang Liguo, being a man of high status, possessed knowledge about cars. The model of this car did not match any of Rolls-Royce’s known models. He had never seen a Rolls-Royce like this before in his life. The emblem must be counterfeit!

The driver had unintentionally soiled his suit while inspecting the car. However, upon spotting the Fang Family, he retrieved gift boxes from the trunk. Old Master and Madame Qiao had repeatedly instructed him to deliver the presents to the Fang Family. But the gift boxes appeared flattened and unimpressive in appearance.
