Fang Yuan’s gaze settled on Gu Qingqing, sending a shiver down her spine. She cursed her luck; once again, she found herself abandoned.
“Gu Wu, Gu Wu…” Gu Qingqing tried to call her brother, who had yet to emerge from the grass. Fear gnawed at her. What kind of person was this? She might appear gentle and unassuming, but in a fight, she transformed into a fearsome force. It was genuinely terrifying!
Gu Qingqing paid little heed to her unconscious brother in the grass. She swiftly turned on her heel, sprinted back to her car, started the engine, and made a hasty escape.
Fang Yuan watched her fleeing car and sighed.
Turning her attention to the groaning thugs in the grass, she commanded, “Silence.”
Upon hearing her words, over ten thugs clamped their hands over their mouths to stifle their cries. Their agony notwithstanding, they dared not utter a sound.
Gu Wu trembled even more vigorously. The moment he had tumbled into the grass, he had recognized the formidable might of the girl. Although she appeared delicate, her physical strength surpassed that of a seasoned fighter.
Fang Yuan strolled nonchalantly to the roadside, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. Soon, Bo Yi’s car pulled up. He approached Fang Yuan and opened the car door for her. “My dear Yuanyuan, you’ve been waiting.”
“Not too long,” Fang Yuan replied, taking her place in the front passenger seat. “Actually, you didn’t have to come all the way to pick me up.”
“But 1 missed you,” Bo Yi confessed, bending down to fasten her seatbelt.
Fang Yuan glanced at his eyes. Up close, his face appeared even more striking, with delicate skin and a prominent nose.
“I’m not a three-year-old,” Fang Yuan teased with a smile.
After securing the seatbelt, he gazed at her affectionately. “No matter how old you are, you’ll always be my precious child.” To him, she was someone to cherish.
Hearing this, Fang Yuan’s cheeks flushed.
Bo Yi shut the passenger door and was about to step into the car when he spotted two abandoned vehicles parked by the road with their doors ajar. He scanned the surroundings but found no one in sight.
Upon settling into the car, he turned to Fang Yuan and inquired, “What kind of collaboration were you discussing just now?”
“Subcontracting processing,” Fang Yuan replied, briefly glancing at the rearview mirror. None of the individuals involved had emerged from their cars. She must have dealt quite a blow.
Bo Yi inquired further, “Will you assist me with it in a few days?”
Fang Yuan,”.. ”
Bo Yi continued, “It’s for a new company, so it won’t draw much attention.”
Fang Yuan,”.. ”
Bo Yi switched gears, “Are you feeling hungry? Would you like to grab something to eat first?”
Fang Yuan checked the time; it was nearly noon, so she agreed.
They found themselves in a private room at a nearby restaurant.
After placing their orders, Bo Yi held Fang Yuan’s hand. He suddenly sensed that her grip today was slightly different from the norm—it was a bit damp. Upon closer examination, he discovered two fresh wounds on the back of her right hand.
“You’re injured? How did this happen?” Bo Yi hadn’t realized that he’d inadvertently touched her wounds earlier, berating himself for his oversight. “I hurt you just now.”
The stoic young woman hadn’t made a sound when he touched her injury; she simply endured it.
Fang Yuan hadn’t even noticed when she got injured. She examined the wound and replied casually, “I’m fine. 1 must have scraped it against the zipper on one of those thugs.”
Bo Yi summoned the restaurant manager and requested a first aid kit.
The restaurant manager was petrified, thinking that the girl accompanying Young Master Bo had been hurt on the restaurant premises. He immediately began apologizing profusely upon entering the room, even offering to renovate the entire private room to ensure it was completely hazard-free.
Fang Yuan couldn’t help but chuckle at his exaggerated reaction. “It’s not your fault. You can leave now.”
The restaurant manager’s relief was palpable as if he had been granted a new lease on life. He bowed in gratitude and quickly exited the room.
“Where are you hurt?” Bo Yi inquired with genuine concern. “How did it happen?”
“1 forgot,” Fang Yuan replied. In truth, she had indeed forgotten. She had endured countless injuries in the triangle region she used to frequent. Never once had she cried out in pain. This small two-centimeter wound didn’t even register on her pain scale.
“Have you been mistreated?” Bo Yi asked with a mix of concern and distress. “By whom?”
“No one,” Fang Yuan consoled Bo Yi instead. “I don’t even recall how I got it. It’s really not a big deal. 1 don’t feel any pain.”
Bo Yi lowered his gaze, concealing the anger that simmered within him. Fang Yuan’s response indicated that someone had indeed mistreated her. Someone had dared to harm the girl he held in high regard. He was determined to investigate this thoroughly.
“I’ll apply some ointment for you. It might sting a bit…” Bo Yi’s actions were gentle. “Tell me if it hurts; don’t keep it to yourself.”
Fang Yuan blinked in confusion. In reality, she felt no pain at all.
Bo Yi proceeded to disinfect and apply the ointment. Throughout the entire process, he didn’t hear Fang Yuan utter a word of discomfort. He surmised that she was enduring it to prevent him from feeling distressed, intensifying his resolve to uncover the person responsible for her injuries.
Observing Bo Yi wrapping her hand with gauze, Fang Yuan couldn’t help but speak up. “There’s no need for the bandage.” It was too conspicuous, and she had to return to work.
“If you’re injured, it’s important to bandage it. Otherwise, an infection could set in, and there might be scars,” Bo Yi explained.
Fang Yuan,”.. ”
Bo Yi inquired, “Does it still hurt?”
Throughout the entire process, Fang Yuan never experienced any pain, but Bo Yi’s heart ached nonetheless. His mind kept revisiting the image of the two empty cars parked by the roadside..
