“Yuanyuan, at 18 years old, you didn’t have any prior experience in managing a company, yet your ability to reorganize the company this time has been truly remarkable. Your father and I are thrilled. You’ve not only been resilient but also adaptive. You’ve been a tremendous help and have saved your brother from a lot of trouble,” Qiao Xinhui said with a sigh of relief. She couldn’t fathom why the Fang family didn’t appreciate them. What an extraordinary child! Had their minds been befuddled?
“Yuanyuan has had a long day. Let her take a shower and rest,” Cheng Ye knew that the responsibilities of running a company, regardless of its size, were always filled with numerous demanding tasks.
“Yes, go freshen up and unwind,” Qiao Xinhui said with affection. “I’ll bring you some supper later.”
“I’m not particularly hungry.”
“The chef is already preparing a meal. Please eat a little,” Qiao Xinhui didn’t know if Fang Yuan was satisfied with the food she had been having with Bo Yi every day. She worried that she might hold back and eat sparingly in front of him.
“In that case, 1’11 head back to my room,” Fang Yuan accepted her mother’s offer without resistance.
As Fang Yuan made her way upstairs, Cheng Yuqi discreetly hid from view. Once she heard Fang Yuan close the door to her room, she came out and overheard Cheng Ye and Qiao Xinhui continuing to praise Fang Yuan. 𝒃𝙚𝒅𝒏𝙤𝙫𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝙢
“This child truly is exceptional. She seems to have a natural talent for business. We must nurture her properly!”
“Nurture her? She’s still very young. We can’t even think about handing over the subsidiary company to her!” Qiao Xinhui’s heart ached for Fang Yuan. She didn’t want her to be burdened with such responsibilities.
Cheng Ye quickly agreed, “You’re right, dear. I was just thinking aloud.”
Qiao Xinhui expressed her concern, “She’s already juggling a lot with just one company. If her college entrance exam results come in, and she wants to continue her education, we can’t let her manage this struggling company any longer!”
Cheng Ye quickly reassured her, “Alright, alright. 1’11 listen to my wife. No matter what Yuanyuan decides, 1’11 stand by her and offer my unwavering support and encouragement.”
Only then did Qiao Xinhui’s smile brighten. “That’s more like it.”
Cheng Ye added, “However, we should still consider passing on some of our Cheng family’s assets to her in the future. If she’s not interested in managing it, she can always hire someone to oversee it… Of course, we can discuss this at a later time.”
Upon hearing her parents’ conversation, Cheng Yuqi couldn’t help but clench her fists in frustration. Even though Fang Yuan was their biological daughter, she was just a young woman. Why should she inherit the Cheng family’s assets?
After Fang Yuan finished her shower, she opened her laptop to attend to her personal matters. Just as she was about to get started, there was a gentle knock on her door.
“Yuanyuan, are you awake? 1 brought you something to eat.”
“I’m not asleep.” Fang Yuan’s slender fingers tapped on the keyboard a few times before she closed the laptop and went to answer the door.
“I thought you might not eat much with Yi, so I asked the chef to prepare something for you,” Qiao Xinhui explained as she placed the tray of food on the table.
Fang Yuan was pleasantly surprised by the sight of the food. “Barbecue?”
“I heard that kids your age enjoy this. Smell it; it’s quite appetizing,” Qiao Xinhui remarked with a smile.
Fang Yuan picked up a skewer and offered it to Qiao Xinhui.
Qiao Xinhui’s face lit up with joy. “Mommy doesn’t eat these… you should enjoy it. You’ve been working so hard these past few days. Managing the company involves a lot of responsibilities. You’ve just returned and haven’t had much time to relax.”
“It’s not that difficult,” Fang Yuan said as she took a bite of the skewer. “It’s actually quite enjoyable.” At least, it was more enjoyable than going to school.
Qiao Xinhui was relieved to hear her daughter’s words. “You can delegate those minor tasks to others. Whenever you have free time, 1’11 take you out for afternoon tea, shopping, and spa treatments… We can plan a family trip to any destination you desire. Your father and 1 are eager to accompany you.”
Fang Yuan raised her head, her sweet smile lighting up her face. “Alright.” “Have you been feeling comfortable at home lately? Is there anything that doesn’t suit you? Is the bed too hard? Do the curtains need changing? Is there any furniture you dislike, or have you had any issues with the food…”
“No, everything’s just fine,” Fang Yuan assured her.
Qiao Xinhui gazed at her obedient daughter, unable to fathom why the Fang family had treated her so poorly. What an exemplary child!
“I heard that Grandpa Bo arranged for afternoon tea to be brought for you today?”
Fang Yuan was taken aback. How had such a small matter reached her family’s ears?
Qiao Xinhui smiled and explained, “It was Grandpa Bo himself who called our house to inquire about your preferences. Since you’ve just returned, your dad and 1 aren’t familiar with your tastes. Luckily, Yi is here.”
Fang Yuan was surprised by this revelation.
“Yi knows your preferences like the back of his hand. He’s very attentive to whether you like something or not,” Qiao Xinhui continued with a twinkle in her eyes. “1 can see that he genuinely cares about you.”
“When he looks at you, his eyes are filled with affection. With such a partner, you’re sure to find happiness in the future.” Qiao Xinhui placed her hand on Fang Yuan’s, noticing the bracelet on her wrist.
“We’ve known Yi for many years, and he’s always been a reserved and stoic young man. But in your presence, he’s a completely different person. His eyes are brimming with love for you.”
“And it’s the first time we’ve seen him design a bracelet for a girl… Don’t forget to give him some tokens of appreciation too. Don’t let his love go to waste..”
