True Alpha's Chosen Mate-Chapter 285: Final Act I: the new dawn III
As the new dawn rose for everyone in Ronmin, the loud cheers, tears of joy, and relief replaced the painful howling that resonated throughout the night. Looking up at the white ball of light, everyone witnessed how it exploded, blinding them momentarily.
When everyone recovered from the blinding light, they looked in the same direction and everything in the sky was gone with a snap of a finger. The white ball of light and the portal in the sky just vanished, as if someone simply turned it off like a switch.
Although everyone was granted a second chance to live. When Deimos, the emperor, his sons Daniel and Tito, and some members of the Tarsa and the mad wolf pack went to see the area Rinnie and Hugo fought, they were gone. Everyone else rose from the dead — even the mutilated Tomas — but only two people disappeared.
Rinnie and Hugo.
Those who had gone into a feral state, the chosen wolves handpicked by the one and only true alpha, understood what happened. They didn’t get the orders in their head, but more like, deep in their hearts, they had this mutual understanding.
They left this world. Both of them left, taking the child of evil with them.
"Alpha Hugo..." Ivo stood on the sidelines, eyes at the very few people who came from all directions to check on them. Standing near the ruined castle were Deimos and his sons and Garrett. From the southern entrance were the mad wolf pack, and then Bowie with a few Tarsa.
Unlike the chaotic night that was filled with howling, the rising of the sun over the horizon was silent. The faint cheers of people still reached their ears, but the air in the vast expanse where only the traces of an intense battle were left behind went to a standstill.
Ivo watched Deimos walk towards the large shallow hole in the middle of the dry landscape before they approached him. When they surrounded the huge shallow hole, they raised their heads and looked at each other.
Silence descended upon them for as long as they could remember, paying respect to Hugo and Rinnie from the bottom of their hearts. Despite how things turned out, they still gave them the highest respect they deserved.
"May they find peace in the empyrean realm," Deimos expressed, his soft golden eyes filled with sadness. Even when Hugo was someone they all had to bow down to, he was still his son. Leaving the mortal realm was also akin to dying.
They left.
"Alpha..." Ivo bit his lower lip, balling his hands into a fist. They had done what Hugo asked them: defend the gates and let not a single vampire out of the imperial palace. They succeeded, but none of them expected that their alpha wouldn’t return to them anymore.
Meanwhile, as they shared a moment of silence, Tito glanced at Bowie. The latter, although silent, didn’t share the same melancholic aura just like the rest of them. One would consider it was because Bowie wasn’t one of Hugo’s people. But then again, wasn’t the Tarsa, Rinnie’s?
"Lamb..." whispered Bowie, looking up at the sky as the sun slowly spread light, devouring the darkness in the world. "... we will wait for you, as always."
Everyone could not help but turn their attention to the chief of the Tarsa tribe, who was looking heavenward. As soon as Tito heard this, he instantly understood why Bowie didn’t show the slightest hint of sadness.
Although the Tarsa was Rinnie’s beloved people whom she especially favored, they were used to the lamb. They had understood long ago that they couldn’t walk on the same ground as her for a long time. Moreover, they had been waiting for her for generations, even when they lost the ability to shift.
Not that they were used and numbed to this. But more like, they respected the fate of the lamb and her divine existence. This world was not her world, but the world she oversaw. She was the balance between light and darkness. Even if she admitted she was biased, the lamb would always be the lamb, and her judgment would always be fair to both sides.
They didn’t know what Rinnie had done in Hendrik, but Bowie was certain they too received mercy. Just like how the wolves received a miracle, he was certain it was the same for vampires. They also had their own version of miracles.
Bowie’s sentiments slightly affected those who were present gathered around this large shallow hole in the ground. Their attention shifted to Deimos when he cleared his throat.
"Father, what should we do now?" Daniel raised a question. "The imperial palace is clear of vampires. Although everyone was granted a second chance in life, the imperial palace is closed to ruin. It will take some time to rebuild it to its former glory."
Everyone’s eyes were fixed on Deimos, as what the crown prince had said were also the words they wanted to ask. What would they do next? Now that the wolf, the child of evil, and the lamb had left for the empyrean realm, what would they do now?
How would they explain it to the people? What about the vampires in Hendrik? Myriads of questions hovered over their head instead of basking in the celebratory of the new dawn.
Deimos remained silent as his eyes glossed over everyone’s faces. He pressed his lips into a thin line, turning his head in the direction where the sun was rising. His eyes softened, thinking long and hard whether he should propose the enlightenment he had received during the explosion of light.
"The new dawn," he whispered, but they heard him loud and clear. "As an emperor, I don’t know if this is the right call, but I needed everyone’s thoughts before I make one. Or rather, I had already decided, but it was already selfish enough not to tell you about it now." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
He then faced everyone once again, giving them equal attention. "The wolves... I will live in seclusion."
