Chapter 51 -51: Like Mother and Daughter_1
In the office, Qi Tiantian was contemplating what to eat when her father walked in, cradling an unconscious woman.
Quickly she scuttled forward, asking anxiously, “Daddy, what happened to her?”

Qi Yunjue gently placed Yan Ling on the bed in her office before answering his daughter, “Nothing serious, she’s just exhausted.”
A layer of worry slipped onto the man’s stoic face.
After enduring multiple hours of surgery and subsequently emotionally taxing turmoil, she was at the brink of her limits.
Upon hearing this, Qi Tiantian’s little face scrunched up, the irritation clear in her tone, “She’s so stupid! She knows it’s a thankless task but still insists on doing it.”
“Do you like her a lot?” Qi Yunjue was taken aback. He knew Tian Tian’s personality well: despite seeming socially confident on the surface, she was hardly ever completely transparent with her feelings, prone to suspicion and sensitivity.
Qi Tiantian furrowed her eyebrows, grumbling unconvincingly, “I don’t really like her…”
Before she could finish speaking, Yan Ling, still lost in slumber, reached out, pulling Qi Tiantian into an embrace and murmuring in pain, “Baby, I’m sorry. Please, don’t leave Mommy!”
Qi Tiantian, though flustered, obediently allowed the woman to hold onto her.
When Yan Ling began to cry, the tiny girl moved forward, gently wiping away her tears and consoling, “Go to sleep, I won’t go anywhere!”
Whether it was the comforting assurance of Qi Tiantian’s words or something else, the pain on Yan Ling’s face faded, yet her grip on the little girl didn’t loosen.
Observing the pair snuggled up together, Qi Yunjue was struck by their matching expressions and position. To an uninformed observer, they could have easily been mistaken for mother and daughter.
“Daddy, why is she crying?” Qi Tiantian, sensing Yan Ling’s sorrow, asked in confusion.
Qi Yunjue stalled, his throat catching at her words.
After a long pause, he haltingly responded, “Because she once lost two children about your age.”
Qi Yunjue hadn’t deliberately investigated Yan Ling’s past. He learned from his team, following his directive, to receive immediate reports regarding any negative news about Yan Ling after she was vilified widely online.
A few minutes ago, one of his subordinates reported a post alleging Yan Ling’s turbulent personal life, describing instances of pregnancies out of wedlock, followed by the tragic loss of her two sons.
Within a second of the post going live, it was already deleted by the head of the Qi Corporation’s Technology Department. Nobody from the public saw the post, and while it was removed as a precautionary measure, the department head still reported the situation to him.
“Will all mothers be this heartbroken if they lose their children? Was ‘that woman’ as equally devastated when she abandoned me and my brother?”
At the mention of her birth mother, there was a distressing look on the usually cheerful face of Qi Tiantian.
Qi Yunjue frowned.
He couldn’t help recalling the events from the night six years ago.
On that night, he was conned. He was raving mad, and at that moment, a woman, smelling alluringly, barged into his room.
As her pliant body crashed into him, he lost control. He was like a wild beast, wishing he could consume her.
In the early morning, when Assistant Jin rushed into the room with his team, he managed to hold onto the last shred of sanity, leaving his token with her.
But, the woman didn’t come to him with his token. Instead, nearly seven months later, she had someone clandestinely deliver a set of dying twins to his doorstep…
