Tribe Conquest: Harem starts in a tribe!-Chapter 21: Nightmare!
It was midnight, Buan’s room dark and silent, only the sound of heavy breathing resounding in it. Buan was in the middle of sleep, lying on the fur bed, currently in the middle of a nightmare.
Sweat clung to his body like a layer of wet cloth, his heart beating faster than usual in his chest.
In his nightmare, the earth quaked beneath his broken body, the harrowing creature, the Beast God — Crocomanga, approaching him from behind.
He could hear its breathing, feeling its gaze on his back. As the earth quaked with its steps, Buan’s heart thumped louder, sweat beads appearing on his forehead.
Soon, the creature sat beside him and picked up his leg, which should already have been gone.
As soon as Buan felt its fang touch his leg, he let out a loud scream:
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRR!"
His eyes snapped open as he jolted upright, his spine snapping into a rigid line. He gasped for air, his heart hammering against his chest, sweat clinging to his body like a layer of grease.
Pressing his hands on the fur sheet of his bed, he looked around in panic, only calming down after confirming that he was still in his room.
He took short breaths, his heart still beating loudly in his chest. It took some time to fully come to his natural state of mind.
’Fuck the gods! This beast god won’t even let me have a good night’s sleep? Was devouring my leg not enough that it’s now coming in my dreams too?!’
He vented to himself, not a tad bit pleased with the sudden nightmare. It had only been a day since he ended up in this new world, and he had already suffered enough to have nightmares, which he never got in his previous life.
’What should I do? Just go back to sleep?’
Buan was hesitant to sleep, afraid that the nightmare might return.
He looked around, only the blue moonlight filling his dark room through the gaps in his wooden window.
Knock! Knock!
At this moment, his door was knocked on twice, a sweet, motherly voice following suit, asking with concern:
"Buan, are you alright?"
"Yes, mother." Buan replied assuringly, "It was just a nightmare."
"Open the door. Let me have a look."
Buan sighed helplessly, put on his wooden leg, and went to open the door.
As the door swung inward, in his sight stood his breathtakingly beautiful mother, adorned in revealing sleeping clothes — A white cotton crop top falling over her bare breasts to not confine them, revealing her curvy waist and alluring navel. A white cotton frock only reaching her lower thighs allowed her to have a comfortable sleep.
Buan gulped at the sight of her, feeling a rage of fervor inside him.
Her gaze, however, was filled with motherly love and care, studying Buan’s face before asking, "Was the nightmare about the Beast God?"
Buan’s eyes widened in surprise. "How did you know?"
Selera’s brows furrowed with a tense expression, her voice heavy when she replied:
"It’s written in the divine text of the tribe. Beast Gods have been described as the calamity of nature. Even though they are spirit beasts, they are a whole different species altogether."
She paused momentarily, her gaze filled with worry as she continued:
"Beast Gods are territorial beings, never leaving their territory. Moreover, they do not get hungry, nor do they need to eat to survive, much like the other spirit beasts; however, they do look for different tastes in food, just to please themselves. If someone ends up in their territory, it’s almost certain that they would end up dead. It’s already a miracle you returned alive."
Buan swallowed hard.
Selera held his hand and spoke with a serious gaze: "Buan, once a beast god gets a taste of someone’s flesh, they crave more. They want the same taste until the human dies. It’s due to this reason they savor their prey’s taste instead of devouring them outright." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
She squeezed his hand within her grip and revealed in a grim tone:
"Since Beast God Crocomanga has had a taste of you, he won’t let you go. He is releasing his intent and craving for your flesh in nature. This intent and craving is targeting you, resulting in your nightmares."
"What?!" Buan’s eyes opened wide in shock. "Does that mean I will keep getting these nightmares all my life until either me or Crocomanga is dead?"
Selera gave a silent nod, holding his hand between hers to give him support.
Buan felt his heart shake, screaming in his heart:
’So I will not be able to sleep?! And that bastard, Crocomanga, was really tasting my flesh instead of devouring me?! Such a twisted creature... Fuck the Gods! Why am I here?! Should I just kill myself? That seems like a better option...’
Buan didn’t know how to react. In the day, he had been attacked by warriors, and when he thought he could at least get a good night’s rest; turns out he would keep having nightmares for the rest of his life?
’Just my luck...’
And just when he was thinking that it couldn’t get any worse, a sudden thought flashed in his mind, which made his heart jump.
His eyes widened in horror as he asked with a fearful expression:
"Mother, what if the beast god, Crocomanga, comes to our tribe to get me? Can the tribe even fight a beast god? Heck, I can guarantee they will just throw me into its maw if it comes to that, right?" Buan clenched his jaw in anger.
Selera shook her head: "You don’t need to worry about that."
"Why?" Buan tilted his head in confusion.
Selera smiled warmly and stated, "Firstly, because the beast gods rarely leave their territory. However, the main reason is because our tribe is in the territory of another beast god. Our guardian beast god, The Great Sable1 Serpent, repels all other beasts from approaching our tribe."
"If the Beast God, Crocomanga, approached our tribe, it would need to first defeat the Great Sable Serpent, which is almost impossible. The Beast Gods never fight one another." Selera informed.
Hearing this, Buan got another question: "Then can’t the Great Sable Serpent...
