Chapter 269: In Leonara

Rion stared at the two banners and mumbled, "Is that the Leonara kingdom?"

Zaelyane stepped beside him and answered with a nod, "It is."

A sharp glint passed through his eyes; he clenched his fists and spewed, "It seems that the duke has forgotten his place."

"Maybe. It’s all about being strong," Zaelyane stated flatly.

Rion nodded. "You are right, and that is why the duke should start counting his days."

Yuura, who was silently listening to them, appeared to his right and asked, "What do you plan to do, my liege?"

Rion stared at the grand kingdom before his eyes and said, "We first have to know the current condition of the kingdom and the civil war."

"How are we going to do that?" Zaelyane questioned with a frown, and Rion stated with an impassive look, "You already know."

Her expression darkened. "Are you really thinking of using it?"

He nodded. "I am."

"What about doing things the right way?" she asked.

A chuckle escaped his lips. "Haha, I would love to do that, but the people are at stake here. I can’t play morals when many of them are dying because of the civil war they have nothing to do with."

"They had supported this way," she commented.

Rion shook his head and explained, "They did it, but they didn’t know what they were supporting. You can call it ignorance, but it doesn’t warrant death, not when the king could easily solve it."

"I do not understand," she stated with a puzzled expression.

He smiled. "You don’t have to."

He offered his hands to both of them and said, "Let’s go."

They placed their hands in his; he unfurled his Zone, and it covered the entire first bordering city of the Leonara Kingdom.

The chatter of the busy streets and low whispers of those who couldn’t help but comment on the kingdom’s current state reached his ear.

"Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve heard that the duke is doing all of this because the king had killed the previous king and his sister to take the throne for himself."

"Huh? But why would the duke do that?"

"Loyalty, of course!"

"Bullshit! The duke is doing that because he had romantic feelings for the princess!"

"What the?! Do you think this is a novel or something?!"

"To be honest, I believe that the duke is just desirous of the throne..."

"I think the same! My friend’s uncle’s dad’s son’s friend’s sister told me that the duke never liked the previous king."

"So you are the bastard who was talking to my sister?!"

Hearing all that. Rion heaved a sigh.

"Anything useful?" Zaelyane asked, her expression returning to her usual calm impassiveness.

Rion shook his head and said, "Nothing of importance."

"What should we do now?" Yuura asked, his hands already on his dagger pockets.

"We will get rooms at an inn, and once we have enough information, we will move to the next city. As we are in a bordering city, the impact of the civil war won’t be much, so we have to collect everything we can within the next three days."

Zaelyane and Yuura nodded to his words, and they stepped out of the shadowed street and walked towards the nearby inn.

As they walked onto the cobbled street, Rion gazed at the buildings around them and thought, ’They look much heavier and stronger than the ones I saw at Bulorka Kingdom.’

His eyes shone with excitement. ’And I can also sense over ten superhumans and two nebula... No wonder it’s called the strongest kingdom.’

After walking for ten minutes, they walked into an inn and took three rooms at the price of two coppers per day for each room.

Rion sat cross-legged on his bed, filtering the useful information he was receiving from his Zone.

Sweat beads formed across his forehead as he focused on places that were more prone to having information about the civil war.

But no matter how much he looked, he found nothing useful. It was as if no one was allowed even to mention the war. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

A few hours passed, and the inn servant knocked at the door.

"Dinner," said a youthful voice.

’It was just a waste of time,’ Rion mumbled in his head as he walked to the door, opened it, and took the plate from the young inn servant.

"What’s your name?" he asked.

The inn servant who was returning stopped, looked at Rion, and answered with a wide, cheerful smile, "Rion! But everyone calls me Rio."

Rion Del Haden blinked a few times and thought, ’Talk about coincidences.’

His lips arched upwards. "Rion is a good name."

"Really?!" Rio asked with a bright look.

Rion nodded. "Yes."

A mischievous look appeared on his face. "I have heard that it’s the name of a great man who helps everyone in need and spreads joy to any place he goes."

Bright stars appeared in Rio’s eyes as he jumped towards Rion and asked in a curious tone, "WHO?!"

Rion’s smile widened as he pointed at himself and said, "That would be me."

The stars instantly vanished from Rio’s eyes, and he shot Rion a furious glare before he turned around and spewed, "I hope you taste sh—"

He covered his mouth with his hands and mumbled under his breath, "Good boys don’t say bad words, Rio."

After lowering his hands, he looked up at the ceiling and added in a reminiscing tone, "Right... Mom?"
