———

This wasn’t his first time seeing it, but he still remembered the agony he had to go through when he had first seen his titles; now, however, he was able to read them without any issue.

"What did that tenth sign in change?" He questioned under his breath.

When Haden had finally decided to tell him about them, he had found out about the existence of ’Paradox’, and surprisingly, the system already had a protocol against it.

In which he had to sign in ten times for his titles to activate, and now that they were active, he was worthy of knowing about them, as well as other knowledge that shouldn’t exist.

’I must’ve obtained Drifter of Virtual Abyss and One Who Gazed Into The Abyss in the dark world where The Remnant had sent me...’

’So that place was Abyss.’

He focused on the other titles, and his thoughts continued.

’Born of the Crimson Legion for being born in Dharvik, which is also the Crimson Army... but why is it stated as a Legion?’

Frowning, he continued reading the remaining ones.

’Beholder of the First Spark must be because of Absolute Will, and Beholder of Abysmal Flame is self-explanatory.’

’Lastly, Devil Slayer from killing The Remnant.’

’The only two which I have no clue of are Paradoxborn and The Witnessed...’

’The Witnessed might be related to prophecies that mention me...’

Sinking deeper into the bathtub, he mumbled, "I cannot see how they affect me, and they also seem to activate by themself like how the Paradoxborn had activated a few hours ago."

Sighing, he stared at the screen for a few moments before he said, "There’s no point in thinking so much about it..."

He stood up, walked out of the bathtub and made his way towards the corner that had the towels and a pair of clothes.

After drying himself with the towel, he put on the clothes, put on the leather slippers and stepped outside the bathroom.

As he did so, his gaze fell on Aliyah and the other two maids who were pushing a wooden cart towards their rooms.

The cart obviously had their dinner and other refreshments.

His lips curved upwards. Stepping forward, he sensed something interesting in his Zone, which caused him to mumble a low Whisper, "Good luck, Calvus. I am sure you can handle this."

"Miss Aliyah! It’s good to see you again."

Calvus, Jamie and Salis stood before a grand wooden door that led to the count’s office.

Calvus’s expression was hard, but he was certain that the count would understand that his actions were for the county.

"Come in," a heavy voice came from the inside.

Stepping forward, Salis pushed open the door and all of them walked inside.

Jamie and Salis instantly knelt before the count, and Calvus stared nervously at his father, hands folded behind his back.

Alger Barley also had short blonde hair that was pushed backwards and grey eyes that looked emotionless. His beard was trimmed perfectly, and he had a lean body that made his sharp features appear even sharper.

He wore a white shirt and dark blue pants with a dark belt that had a small golden chain hanging from its centre to its buckle.

Even though he wasn’t a superhuman, he had a presence that made others think of him as someone above them.

At the moment, Count Alger Barley was standing by the window with a teacup in his hand, his eyes fixed on the bright Barleyhen town that was abuzz with various activities.

"We greet the count!" All three of them spoke at the same time.

Alger turned towards them. Placing his cup beside the stack of parchments and documents, his eyes stilled on Calvus, and he said, "It seems you found some friends near the mountains."

Calvus nodded. Taking a step forward, he stated, "I found four adventurers who are victims of the unjust acts of a lord."

"I see... so? Who is that lord?"

Hearing that, Calvus’s expression turned grim. In the joy of everything, he had forgotten to ask about the lord.

Lowering his head, he whispered, "I do not know..."

"I see," Alger mumbled, no change appeared on his even face.

He looked at Salis and said, "Sir Salis, I believe you are aware that I had decreed a prohibition on any kind of entry to the cursed mountains and the forests surrounding them."

Salis nodded. "I am aware, my lord."

His gaze returned to Calvus, and he stated, "As per the decree, no one — not even my own son, servants, and knights — is exempt from the punishment... which means all of you, including the other three silver lion knights, are to be punished by the law."

Calvus’s eyes went wide, and he looked at Alger with a dumbfounded expression.

His lips parted to argue, but seeing that Salis and Jamie were silent, he couldn’t say anything.

"Are you ready for your punishments?" Alger asked.

"We are ready," Jamie and Salis answered in unison.

"What about you? Calvus," Alger mumbled softly.

Calvus looked into Alger’s eyes and muttered, "Jamie and the knights were only following my orders. I wish that instead of punishing them, you only punish me for breaking the law and forcing them to do the same."

Jamie and Salis instantly turned their heads towards him and called out desperately, "Young master you cannot—"

"Silence." Alger’s command stilled them.

He picked up his teacup, turned around and stated while walking near the window, "For the next three months, Calvus Barley would be stripped from his position as the heir and would become an officer of internal law enforcement."
