Trials of the Abyss-Chapter 971: Time and Space
Another God King had been born!
Yi Hao stood tall and unyielding, aura swelling like a boundless tide as he resonated with his Temple of Fate.
His immeasurable aura did not merely carry the profundities of fate. It was also imbued with the profound truths that the myriad Gods had comprehended.
These profound truths clashed with those within Luo Hongyan's own aura, tearing against one another in the Primordial Chaos Starry Region.
The fabric of space ripped apart, and stars crumbled into dust.
Luo Hongyan conjured more worlds of interwoven light and darkness, infusing them with flames and streams of icy radiance, and filling them with the aura of life and death. These worlds, complete with her six Heavenly Daos, twisted under the onslaught of Yi Hao's fate energy.
"Fate-affinity divine techniques have always transcended the rest," Yi Hao muttered, aura surging unrestrained.
A gleaming silver eye floated above his head, its indifferent gaze locked onto Luo Hongyan.
An aura, belonging to the supreme will of the starry skies, emanated from the depths of that silver eye.
The space between Yi Hao and Luo Hongyan distorted as they fought. Light and darkness twisted. Gods and living beings were born and annihilated in the blink of an eye.
Both unleashed multiple divine techniques, each possessing the unfathomable power to create life. The beings they gave rise to used their innate bloodline abilities to slaughter one another.
Everything was in chaos.
The area between the two God Kings had been cut off from the Primordial Chaos Starry Region, inaccessible to divine sense and beyond the constraints of the natural laws.
Pang Jian, while shaken to his core, also gained countless insights.
God Kings can bring forth life with but a thought. They can rewrite laws and grant divine techniques to the beings born of them. Such power, usurping creation itself, is on par with the supreme wills!
His attention shifted away from the two God Kings and to the Ruin Realm. Noticing some strange streams of lingering fire, he reached out with his Heavenly Daos and attempted to erase them.
Thirty-six stars flared in unison, sweeping away the invading flames like blades forged to slay vile spirits.
Freed at last from the torment of those streams of fire, the Ruin Realm suffered no further intrusion.
"Yi Hao has become a God King!"
"So fast? Even ascending as a Sovereign is a long, arduous process. How could he become a God King just like that?"
"He likely could've ascended long ago. He simply suppressed his cultivation realm all this time!"
"A second God King!"
"Two God Kings in one era? Impossible! I thought only one God King could reign at a time?!"[1]
"Our knowledge of God Kings is but a drop in the ocean. Who's to say there cannot be more than one? Perhaps it's merely that no such event has ever occurred—until now!"
The five Great Demon Gods and high-ranking Gods in the Ruin Realm could not help but cry out in awe at the boundless divine might emanating from Yi Hao.
They had never expected Yi Hao to ascend as a God King right after Luo Hongyan. Moreover, he had done so with unprecedented speed and ease. It was as though it were merely a matter of willing it into existence.
Pang Lin wore a solemn expression.
"As I thought. Hongyan, I've already given you everything I can. Even if you manage to resist the corruption of that will, if you cannot defeat Yi Hao"—she glanced worriedly at the eager-looking Pang Jian—"then, we truly have no chance of victory."
She had placed all her hopes on Luo Hongyan!
Yi Hao was an unprecedented existence, an anomaly that even Pang Lin had never encountered in all her incarnations.
She could not be certain of Luo Hongyan's victory, even with light and darkness flowing as one. After all, Yi Hao, having devoted himself to the supreme will of the starry skies, could be possessed once he released his strict hold on his sense of self.
If Luo Hongyan gained ground against Yi Hao, he would likely welcome the will of the starry skies, forcing her to face it as well.
The supreme will could even permit him to retain his consciousness after he surrendered to it, allowing him to coexist within that God King's body.
The joint combat prowess of Yi Hao and that supreme will was unfathomable. Even Pang Lin found her confidence wavering at the thought.
A black crystal orb radiating an aura of frozen time rose from the River of Fate that circled Yi Hao.
Yi Hao clutched the orb firmly in one hand.
Intricate truths of the mysteries of time writhed upon its surface, swiftly transforming into incarnations of Gods of Time.
These Gods of Time, though of differing ranks, were all once enshrined within the Hall of Gods.
Revived briefly through Yi Hao's divine power, they joined forces to fuel the black crystal orb, amplifying its dominion over time.
Time and space seemed to fall into disarray.
Pang Jian felt powerless. It was as though he had returned to being the young hunter of the Solitary Mountain Range, guarding his sister, never having stepped onto the path of cultivation.
The sensation was so vivid that he almost believed he had truly returned to the time when he was bereft of divine power.
"That's Ling Xuan's Temporal Orb!" Luo Hongyan cried, a strange light flickering in her eyes.
Ling Xuan, loyal to Fu Ya, had delved deep into the mysteries of time. It was a Heavenly Dao on par with or even surpassing the Dao of Space.
For the Temporal Orb to fall into Yi Hao's hands could only mean that Ling Xuan had met a grim fate.
Delicate cracks quietly split open the palm of Yi Hao's free hand, seemingly connected to Tian Yu's Void Temple. A torrent of overwhelming spatial energy seeped out from within and merged with the Temporal Orb.
The profound truths of space and time wove together in the orb.
"Time and space as one. When joined with my Dao of Fate, their potential knows no bounds." Yi Hao laughed wildly. Raising the Temporal Orb, he shouted, "Freeze!"
A strange force rippled outward, locking both space and time.
The entire starry region came to a standstill.
The stars, suns, and moons dimmed.
Even the torrents of light pouring from the sundered fabric of space between the two God Kings froze in place.
Yi Hao had halted time and space with the Temporal Orb.
The ascension of Pang Jian's Immortal Divine Soul also stopped, his divine power frozen in place. Blood ceased to flow through his veins. His thoughts sank into a dreadful mire, every stir of will tens of thousands of times heavier than before.
"My Heavenly Dao is of the highest order," Yi Hao said smugly.
Everything around him had fallen into absolute stillness. Energy could not flow, and light could not radiate outward. Even living hearts had stopped beating.
Yi Hao could do anything he wished.
1. This sentence, along with the one below, was added after much internal discussion. In earlier chapters, it was repeatedly mentioned that only one God King could exist in any given era. However, in this part of the story, both Luo Hongyan and Yi Hao exist as God Kings at the same time. We added these lines to help explain and reconcile that point. ☜
