Chapter 965: Descent

The first thing Pang Jian did upon breaking free from the Sovereign of Fate's shackles was to search for his sister.

He caught sight of the Illusory Void Realm flickering in and out of view through the spatial rifts in the starry region. It dared not manifest in the Primordial Chaos Starry Region, clearly wary of Luo Hongyan's breakthrough, fearful that her radiance would taint and shatter it.

Beside the Star of Light, Luo Hongyan's body continued to grow, soon matching the celestial body in size and surpassing it in radiance. Divine aura poured from her like an unfathomable ocean. Merely sensing it caused one's heart to quiver.

Suddenly, Pang Jian realized he could no longer sense the Soulstream in the Nether Abyss or the Dao Source of Metal. Even his connection with his sister was severed.

Did her breakthrough and her light block my connection with the Soulstream? Shocked, Pang Jian glanced down at Yi Hao.

The enigmatic Sovereign of Fate hovered motionlessly, his silver halo continuing to circle him, a thick ancient tome resting in his hands.

Above his head floated that gleaming silver eye, which remained fixed firmly upon Luo Hongyan.

There was no sign of Yi Hao even attempting to interfere with Luo Hongyan's ascension. In fact, he seemed confident that Luo Hongyan's ascension would change nothing—she would still be powerless to oppose the supreme will of the starry skies.

The denizens of the abysses, on the other hand, were much more panicked.

"God King!"

"A God King is about to appear. What do we do?!"

"The grand event always brings with it the birth of a God King. This time is no exception. But Sovereign Luo's ascension feels unusual. I never expected her to choose this moment to do it."

"Terrifying!"

These voices from the abysses carried with them threads of Faith that drifted into Pang Jian. His divine sense grew ever stronger, but he felt anything but calm.

His connection with the Bee Sovereign, the black turtle, and the World Tree had all been severed, nor could he sense the shifting laws of the Ruin Realm despite being on top of the God King's skull.

Luo Hongyan's ascension seemed to have cut him off from everything. He felt isolated in a sea of light.

Crystalized wings unfurling, Luo Hongyan descended slowly onto the Star of Light, turning it into a unique divine platform that resonated seamlessly with her divine aura.

"Yi Hao." A dazzling radiance burst forth from between her brows as she blinked down at the Sovereign of Fate. "You forced me to become a God King, so don't blame me for facing you as one."

Massive blades of light formed around her. Though the blades merely pointed at Yi Hao, endless brilliance surged toward him, pressing down with overwhelming might.

"Congratulations." Yi Hao nodded with a faint smile.

The Sovereign of Fate strode leisurely toward the Star of Light, unaffected by its boundless radiance. Even the sharp and weighty blades of light could not break through the silver halo circling him.

He crossed the vast distance in only a few steps.

When he hovered before Luo Hongyan, he appeared as minuscule as a gnat. Her towering presence and divine might seemed as if they were about to swallow him whole.

Despite this, he showed no fear.

"Between us, a God King should have been born long ago," he said with a smile. "It favors you and has favored you for a long time. But you stubbornly refused to break through."

Luo Hongyan froze.

"It favors me?" she asked with a thoughtful frown, confusion flickering in her eyes.

"I'm forcing you to become a God King on its behalf," Yi Hao said with a wide smile. "If Fu Ya hadn't died, and if I didn't kill Tian Yu, would you have become a God King so soon? Its plan couldn't be fully carried out until you became one."

Pang Jian's expression changed.

Yi Hao had slaughtered the Fey Gods, the Gods from the bizarre mist, and the Sovereign of Space for one purpose and one purpose only—to force Luo Hongyan into becoming a God King.

Why? How does Luo Hongyan's becoming a God King allow that will's plan to be carried out more fully? Pang Jian wondered.

Luo Hongyan was similarly perplexed. "Yi Hao, what do you mean?"

"It can easily kill Gods below Sovereignhood and stir a Sovereign's Divine Persona, even tearing it from the body," Yi Hao explained with unhurried patience. "Only a God King can bear its descent. Even a Sovereign can hardly endure its arrival."

Shock and fear painted Luo Hongyan's peerlessly beautiful face.

Pang Jian's mind raced.

Its descent?!

The supreme will of the starry skies can descend into the body of a God King, manifesting its existence through that vessel to unleash its boundless might!

Does that mean it can't descend without a God King?

As the Sovereign most devoted to the supreme will, Yi Hao likely has the qualifications to break through. However, he chose not to ascend, instead forcing Luo Hongyan to advance.

The implications left Pang Jian in shock.

Luo Hongyan also came to a similar conclusion.

"Yi Hao! You set me up?!"

Her divine consciousness spread through the boundless light, trying to detect the presence of the will of the starry skies and determine the truth of Yi Hao's words.

"It's not a trap to obey it. It can descend; it can also depart. If you wish to defy it..." Yi Hao trailed off with a faint smile. "Well, once it achieves its goal, it may just as easily destroy you.

"Originally, Fu Ya was meant to ascend first. Unfortunately, even after being entrusted with the Hall of Gods, she still failed."

Yi Hao shook his head with mild disappointment.

The gleaming silver eye above him seemed to pierce directly into Luo Hongyan's sea of consciousness, locking onto her Divine Persona.

An ancient will slowly emerged from the eye.

It was the supreme will of the Heavenly Daos that governed the starry skies, the creator of life above, and the weaver of order. It was an existence above Gods, Sovereigns, and even God Kings.

The supreme will has no emotion, for it was the product of the Heavenly Daos themselves, the maker of laws.

Fixing its gaze upon Luo Hongyan through the silver eye, it gradually seeped into her Divine Persona, attempting to seize control of her God King body.

Yi Hao lowered his head in reverent welcome of its arrival.
