Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 557 - 269: The Island Submerged in Dreams
"Alka and Lucilia were captured?" Jason asked Simon as they ran desperately.
Simon nodded, constantly sending out constructs from his hands, scattering them across the Island.
Juanlu was running alongside them as well.
The three of them had joined together on the way to the shore.
"Chadite was caught too," Simon said. He had just heard Chadite’s voice, but then hadn’t seen her catching up.
After all, Chadite should have been the fastest among them.
Obviously, she was also caught.
The twisted changes all around forced them to slow down, and made them even more anxious for Alka and the others’ safety.
On the other side, Julia and Pororo and Matilda were also fleeing rapidly toward the shore.
The warped surroundings made Julia frown deeply.
"There really is something wrong with this Island."
"Isn’t it that bastard’s doing?" Matilda asked.
She thought it was the general launching an attack, trying to hinder their escape.
Julia shook her head. "No, it’s the Island itself changing. That’s why things have felt strange since we landed."
Suddenly, she stopped, no longer fleeing.
As she stopped, the other two beside her halted instantly.
"What’s wrong? You want to go back and rescue them? We can’t win. We need to get back to the ship, regroup with them, and then figure out a plan." Pororo said quickly, standing in place.
The crisis made his mind race, too.
If they went back to rescue, they’d be walking into a trap.
But if they ran, maybe it’d increase Alka and the others’ chances of survival.
The more that escaped, the better chance at survival.
"No, we can’t get out either."
She was already sensing it—the Island and the surrounding sea were being drawn into somewhere strange.
This place was being cut off from its surroundings.
This place was sealed now.
At that moment, in the area where Alka and the rest were located.
The rapid distortion around them made the general stop as well.
Even the pressure exerted on Alka and the rest was being withdrawn.
It seemed he wanted to conserve more strength to deal with the unknown.
Alka was still tirelessly controlling the pink mist sprayed out by the Dream Catcher.
This action made the general—already agitated by the drastic changes in the environment—turn his head toward Alka.
"Since you refuse to stop, then I’ll finish you!"
The general’s face darkened, and he stood there, squeezing hard, mercilessly killing Alka.
The crushing force twisted Alka’s whole body, compressing it until it was a mangled lump.
Twisted into a ball, Alka, now like a hunk of meat paste, dropped to the ground.
Blood and flesh pooled together, spreading on the ground.
He had now become Altan.
Balazs, witnessing this, looked up at the sky, his face full of despair.
As for the exaggerated changes to the environment, they no longer mattered.
The general looked grimly at the changing surroundings.
He couldn’t understand why Alka’s death didn’t make the changes stop.
He could sense that these changes seemed to be related to dreams.
He thought it was the pink mist pouring from Alka causing it.
For changes caused by such a Treasure, they should have ceased when its owner died.
But now, the mass of bloody flesh on the ground vanished as if refreshed, and in its place stood an unscathed Alka.
Alka suddenly coming back to life left everyone startled.
But Alka didn’t wait; the Mirror had already appeared on his face, and mirrors condensed above Lucilia and Chadite’s heads as well.
These mirrors shimmered with pink light, shrouded in red mist all around.
Like hammers, they smashed down, enveloping them, and the three vanished.
Alka had already summoned a Mirror, disappearing together with it from the spot.
Seeing Alka and the others escape successfully, Balazs, his face filled with despair, stared wide-eyed.
How did he do it?
He can even be resurrected?
Even with a Treasure, he’d never heard of any ability to revive the dead.
He couldn’t help but turn to the general, Kriel, beside him.
The general’s face was dark, and seeing Alka and the rest escape, he didn’t care much, but looked toward the changes around them.
Because the changes were becoming more and more obvious, he now knew what the real problem here was.
He no longer cared much about Alka—the bigger problem had arrived.
"This place... has been dragged into the Dream Realm. Damn it!"
His face was stirred by strange anger and utter helplessness.
"Dream Realm?" Balazs echoed beside him.
What was that? Dreaming? 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
The general had no mind to explain, rubbing his hands, sending lines forming a Flying Bird shooting into the distance.
The soldiers who had just left were called back at once.
...
Alka and the others appeared several hundred meters away, and the moment they arrived, the three of them quickly fled again.
The Ring of Light emerged on Chadite’s forehead, and instantly their surroundings plunged into pure darkness.
It was a way to hinder the enemy’s pursuit.
In just a while, they were already several kilometers away in this warped place.
The sea could now be seen in the distance.
But then Alka, fleeing, suddenly frowned and stopped.
"What are you doing? Run!" Lucilia shouted.
"No, we don’t need to. He’s not chasing—and there’s no escape," Alka said, shaking his head as he looked around at the changes.
