Chapter 876: Chapter 874: She Deserved It! (Second Update)

"Sister, do you want to watch?" Little Treasure, in a really good mood, nudged Nuonuo’s shoulder with his elbow.

Nuonuo shook her head, her eyes still fixed unblinkingly on the TV screen, which was showing a commercial at the moment.

Seeing that Nuonuo didn’t respond, Little Treasure mischievously started scrolling through comments and spoke to Da Bao with glee.

"Now, the rumor about He Yinyin taking shortcuts to rise to the top has been confirmed. But with her level of fame, even such eye-catching topics might not grab the audience’s attention."

Da Bao shrugged, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, and gave Nuonuo a deep look,

...

The next day, Nuonuo returned to the set, and He Yinyin, who typically flaunted around the set like a peacock, was nowhere to be seen today.

It wasn’t until Nuonuo sat in the makeup room that she overheard the makeup artists chatting and caught some information.

"Hey, did you guys watch Handsome Peng’s show last night?" Makeup Artist A asked.

"I did! It was hilarious!" Makeup Artist B responded. Although Nuonuo had her eyes closed, she could imagine the teasing and mocking expressions on their faces from their tone.

"Yeah, someone who was so arrogant before got played so badly, she was probably scared out of her wits on the spot, right?" Those watching the drama naturally had no sympathy.

Moreover, He Yinyin’s usual domineering behavior had offended a lot of people in the crew. Now that she’s in trouble, many are gloating and enjoying the spectacle. Some even thought last night’s show was quite satisfying.

Si Han listened with her eyes closed and didn’t express any opinion. Then, she heard the makeup artist behind her ask, "Si Han, did you watch the show last night?"

Si Han opened her eyes, looking puzzled.

"Show? I don’t watch TV at all, I have homework to do at night!"

Everyone in the crew knew Si Han was a student, so they didn’t doubt her when she said that.

"Didn’t watch it? That’s a pity! You missed a good show, little girl!"

He Yinyin targeted Si Han in the crew daily, but the oblivious Si Han, who focused solely on acting, didn’t notice. However, everyone else in the crew saw it and felt bad for the little girl.

Except, everyone in the crew knew about He Yinyin being the niece of Boss Qi, one of the investors, so no one dared to openly provoke her. Even the usually fiery Tian Fang didn’t protest against He Yinyin this time, so most people in the crew assumed that even Tian Fang didn’t dare to provoke her.

What they didn’t know was that it wasn’t that Tian Fang didn’t dare to, but she knew someone who was more capable and effective at making He Yinyin shut up.

That morning, Si Han seemed more silent than usual. Although her performance in front of the camera was excellent, earning approval from Director Sun and senior actors, outside the camera, she clearly looked preoccupied and unhappy.

Tian Fang, the thoughtful manager, certainly noticed her artist’s unusual behavior. But she was busy in the morning with Mr. Mai discussing the schedule and details of next month’s commercial shooting. So even though she knew the little girl felt off, she didn’t have time to comfort her and was continuously chatting on the phone in a nearby corner.

Si Han’s scene in the morning was shot smoothly and finished earlier by around ten. Director Sun signaled her to take a break while another group of actors took the stage. Si Han found a corner not far behind Director Sun and sat down, grabbing a cup handed to her by the driver, she absentmindedly bit the straw, sipping slowly on the pear juice inside.

Tian Fang was on the phone for nearly twenty minutes. By the time she finally ended the call, Si Han was still in a daze, biting the straw while drinking juice.

Tian Fang felt a bit uneasy, put away her phone and quickly walked over to Si Han’s side.

"Girl, what’s wrong with you? Didn’t sleep well last night?" As she spoke, she instinctively placed her palm on Si Han’s forehead, "Do you have a fever?"

Like a puppy, Si Han nuzzled her face into Tian Fang’s palm but shook her head, "No."

Tian Fang slightly furrowed her brows. No fever means she has something on her mind?

In Tian Fang’s view, a mental issue is more challenging to deal with than a physical illness. Mental issues require mental remedies, and as of now, there’s no such market for mental remedies to buy!

"Then what’s wrong?" Tian Fang, full of concern, dragged a chair over, hugged Si Han’s shoulders, and sat next to her.

Si Han bit the straw, tilted her head in thought for a long while before slowly letting go of the straw she had bitten miserably, looked around and then whispered to Tian Fang, "Sister Fang, did you watch last night’s show?"

Tian Fang also glanced around to confirm no one was around, then asked back, "You mean He Yinyin’s show?"

Si Han nodded, "Yeah, did you watch it?"

"I did, why, do you feel sorry for her?" Tian Fang slightly raised an eyebrow.

This little girl’s still too young, hasn’t seen much of the world, so full of goodwill towards people and things. Feeling sorry for He Yinyin wouldn’t be surprising.

But to Tian Fang’s surprise, Si Han slowly shook her head.

"No!"

She lifted her eyes to meet Tian Fang’s surprised gaze, then lowered her eyes to stare blankly at her long fingers for a moment, before lifting her head again to tell Tian Fang, "Sister Fang, am I too mean? Watching her get played so badly last night, I actually felt delighted!"

Tian Fang was taken aback for a moment and then burst out laughing. She raised her hand to mess with Si Han’s hair and laughed, "Is this what you call being too mean? I felt delighted too, seeing her like that. Just felt she deserved it! Plus, I think it wasn’t bad enough; does that make me beyond redemption?"

Si Han’s dark eyes steadfastly watched her, quietly waiting for her to continue.

"Tell me, little girl, why did you feel delighted?" Tian Fang didn’t rush to analyze her feelings but instead asked Si Han back.

"Little Treasure told me last night she had been spreading rumors around the crew, saying that I got the leading role by sleeping with Boss Ji. I was furious when I heard that. Whatever she says about me, I don’t care; I can ignore it, but her words severely damage my dad’s reputation. And if these words spread, they might turn into some newcomer sleeping with Boss Ji, and if it gets to my mom’s ears, what if it causes misunderstandings?"

Si Han’s guess wasn’t improbable.

If it weren’t for Director Sun’s strictness and the crew’s usual strict control over gossip and rumors, He Yinyin’s rumor would have spread long ago. No one could predict how it would snowball and turn out in the end.

"My dad and mom probably don’t know about this, and if they do, I don’t know what they would think about it. They’re so good to me, and I don’t want them to be harmed because of me."
