Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 832 - 830: An Era That Judges by Looks (Second Update)
"I’m here to help!"
Du Xin answered, smiling and nodding in greeting to Ji Rui and his wife, and Da Bao, "Hello Uncle, Auntie, Brother Yu."
Holding Nuonuo’s hand, Du Xin noticed the name tag in Ji Rui’s hand at a glance.
"Sis, isn’t there another private room?" Du Xin asked the waitress standing over there.
"Isn’t that room reserved for your second uncle?" The waitress responded honestly.
"My second uncle won’t arrive until eight. It’s just after six now. Save another room for him later. These are my classmates. What’s the room number? I’ll lead them upstairs."
Du Xin led Nuonuo and the others to the second floor, got them settled, and when she came back down, the waitress pulled her aside.
"Xinxin, was that really your classmate?"
Du Xin nodded, "Yes, the other three are her brother and parents. Why?"
Perhaps some other classmates might not know, but Du Xin, being good friends with Ji Sihan, was well aware that Ji Sihan’s parents are the renowned heads of the Ji Family. She assumed this sister recognized them too.
The waitress could sense Du Xin’s wariness but didn’t understand why Du Xin was looking at her with such a strange expression.
"If I remember correctly, that handsome guy has visited our restaurant three times."
Du Xin frowned slightly, "Sister, you must be mistaken, right? Business has been so good recently, can you be sure?"
"Xinxin, there are a lot of guests, but not many as striking as that handsome guy, body like a model, face better than a star, exuding a noble aura."
The waitress insisted she wasn’t mistaken. After hearing her analysis, Du Xin believed her, acknowledging that Ji Yu had indeed visited before.
"Did he come with my classmate?"
Du Xin asked not out of suspicion but just casually.
The waitress seemed confused, "I didn’t pay attention to what your classmate looked like. I only remember he came the first time with a woman, and the second time with two men."
Du Xin secretly retorted: Truly a face-focused world!
Even though Du Xin was mentally complaining, she had to admit, Sihan’s brother was indeed too handsome to look at directly.
Moreover, his demeanor and aura were unmatched by ordinary men.
"Uncle, Auntie, what would you like to eat?"
After listening to the waitress’s praise, Du Xin felt a bit too shy to look directly at Ji Jing, so holding a tablet, she stood beside Ji Rui and his wife, patiently and thoughtfully inquiring about their tastes and preferences.
Ji Rui glanced at Le Tong, implying that he was leaving the decision up to her.
Le Tong looked at Nuonuo and Da Bao, "Is there anything you’d like? If you’re not sure, let Xinxin bring us their most famous signature dishes."
Finally, everyone agreed to order the signature dishes here.
Du Xin quickly jotted down a few dish names on the tablet, showed them for approval, and then stepped out.
"Brother, you’re really amazing, managing to attract so many customers in less than a month!"
After this incident, in Nuonuo’s mind, Da Bao seemed even more capable.
"It’s not that I’m amazing; it’s Glory Network’s large platform and the fact that every aspect of the restaurant is top-notch that led to such impressive results in a short period."
Da Bao didn’t take all the credit, providing an objective evaluation of the situation.
In recent years, Glory Network not only became the largest online game operator, but was also the first to establish a group buying website a few years ago, becoming well-known and boasting astonishing daily online sales.
Nuonuo didn’t deny Da Bao’s statement, but even under the same conditions, she hadn’t thought of using this resource to help Du Xin.
"I guess I just don’t have a head for business!"
Previously, Nuonuo always thought she was slow, but now she realized it wasn’t stupidity—it just wasn’t in her genetic makeup.
Da Bao pinched her cheek, "I probably don’t have an ounce of artistic talent either!"
Nuonuo understood what Da Bao meant and smiled slightly when she met his gaze.
Da Bao thought the little girl had let it go and wouldn’t be fixated on the issue anymore. Unexpectedly, halfway through the meal, the little girl suddenly lifted her head, resting her chin on her hand, and asked seriously.
"Dad and Mom, can I intern at Ji Family after my college entrance exams?"
Before Le Tong and Ji Rui could reply, Da Bao asked her, "Weren’t you planning to travel after your exams? Interning means no holidays."
Nuonuo seemed set in her decision, "I’m not going on the trip. Didn’t you and Little Treasure help out at the company during summer holidays? Plus, you all have work—who’s going to go with me on a trip?"
Nuonuo felt that even though she wasn’t her parents’ biological child, they always treated and cared for her as their own daughter. Since that was the case, she should, like her brothers, fulfill her duty as a descendant of the Ji Family.
Even if she couldn’t perform high-difficulty tasks like her brothers, she could at least do odd jobs, right?
Da Bao was about to discourage her impractical idea when Le Tong said, "Da Bao, since Nuonuo wants to help this summer, let her intern at the company. As for where to place her, you all decide—no need to seek advice from me or your dad!"
Le Tong vaguely understood some of Nuonuo’s sentiments and thus supported her decision unconditionally.
Seeing that even Mom had agreed, Da Bao had no choice but to hope the little girl would forget about it by the time summer came.
However, Da Bao’s hope ultimately fell through.
On the night of finishing her college entrance exams, Nuonuo brought it up again.
"Brother, I’ll rest for two days and then join you at the company. Have you arranged a position for me?"
Da Bao wanted to play dumb and evade, but with his parents sitting nearby, knowing Mom would undoubtedly back Nuonuo, he dared not mess around.
"For someone just doing odd jobs, how am I supposed to arrange a position?" Da Bao couldn’t openly oppose, yet his tone was considerably annoyed.
Nuonuo giggled, hugging his arm tightly, "So Brother, will I be doing odd jobs for Dad and Mom, or for you?"
Ji Rui glanced at his son, who was seething with anger, and smiled, "Your mom and I don’t need an odd-job person, the general manager might need one though? If he doesn’t, I’ll have to take you back tomorrow and ask HR to find a place for you."
Le Tong bit her lip, suppressing a laugh at Ji Rui’s words.
Da Bao glared at his dad resentfully, and reluctantly told Nuonuo, "Alright, you can come back with me the day after tomorrow and assist Miss Lei."
Having achieved her goal, Nuonuo threw a grateful glance at her dad, and sycophantically said to Da Bao, "Thank you, General Manager, for giving me the opportunity!"
Da Bao was so amused by her antics that he lost his temper. Glancing coldly at her, he snorted, "Do well and don’t make mistakes, or I’ll have you sent home to rest."
