Chapter 747: Chapter 745: Ji Yu, I Like You (Part One)

Da Bao let go of her, straightened up in the driver’s seat, and sat upright. As if he had timed it perfectly, the light turned green, and the car moved forward slowly with the traffic.

"Nuonuo!" Da Bao’s gaze fell ahead, but his mind was always on the person in the passenger seat.

"Hmm?!" Nuonuo replied vaguely, still not recovered from the "shock" she just experienced. Her flushed face turned away as she stared blankly at the traffic outside.

"Do you prefer to call me Ji Yu?" Da Bao glanced sideways at her, noticing her earlobes, red as if they might drip blood. Feeling delighted, he couldn’t help but rhythmically tap his fingers on the steering wheel.

Nuonuo turned her head sharply to stare at him, but Da Bao’s eyes didn’t meet hers. He simply stretched out his hand, accurately touched her soft and smooth face, gently patted it, and then withdrew his hand back to the steering wheel.

This seemingly casual question had actually been on his mind for two days.

Mummy said that Nuonuo already knew about not being his biological sister; three years ago, this little girl would have cried her eyes out upon learning that.

But Mummy said she didn’t cry or make a fuss; she just became silent.

When he returned these few days, she hadn’t mentioned it at all. If Mummy hadn’t brought it up to him, did she not plan to tell him in the first place?

Or, like him, does she actually look forward to the possibility of developing other relationships beyond being siblings?

Da Bao didn’t get any response from Nuonuo. Looking around, he switched lanes and parked the car by the roadside. After all, there were many hours before the agreed time, and he and she had plenty of time together.

Nuonuo had been contemplating how to answer Da Bao’s sudden question. The car abruptly switched lanes and stopped, which startled her.

Da Bao met Nuonuo’s eyes filled with questions, turned off the car, pulled out the keys, and nodded towards the coffee shop by the road.

"I didn’t have a full breakfast, come with me to have something to eat."

Nuonuo glanced at the sign by the roadside, nodded silently, and obediently got out of the car.

"Two glasses of freshly squeezed grape juice and a portion of buttered toast, please." As if to prove he wasn’t lying, Da Bao ordered as soon as he sat down and saw the waiter coming over.

Turning to Nuonuo, he asked, "What about you? What do you want to eat?"

"I’m not hungry, I had a full breakfast." Nuonuo shook her head, still pondering how to answer her brother’s earlier question.

She wasn’t dumb; she intuitively understood that her brother wasn’t still hungry but wanted to talk to her face-to-face about something.

Taking a sip of water from the cup, she lifted her head and met Da Bao’s dark, shiny eyes.

"Brother..." Nuonuo gently put down the cup, feeling uncomfortable under his stare.

"Hmm?!"

Da Bao continued to gaze unwaveringly at her, his pupils deep and bright.

Just these eyes alone could make many girls fall in love with him instantly, couldn’t they?

Nuonuo thought.

"Mummy told me, I’m not a child of the Ji Family."

She learned this shocking truth about a month ago.

Nuonuo was stunned; her first reaction was to find her brother and have a good chat.

But her Da Bao brother was far away on the other side of the world. Daddy and Mummy said he was very busy, so he hadn’t called home for two or three months.

Nuonuo had his contact information, but in the past three years, she almost never proactively reached out to him through those means.

Maybe, deep down, she indeed resented him a little?

"Nuonuo, did you misunderstand? I think Mummy meant to tell you that you just don’t share Daddy and Mummy’s blood, but you belong to the Ji Family.">

Da Bao corrected Nuonuo’s words earnestly and seriously.

After so many years together, he believed that no one in the Ji Family ever regarded Nuonuo as an outsider. Even Grandpa, who seemed indifferent, always treated and cherished Nuonuo as a granddaughter.

Nuonuo was taken aback for a moment, then quickly reached out to hold Da Bao’s hand resting on the table.

"Brother, that’s not what I meant. What I meant to express was the same as what you said, but my ability to express it is limited, and it caused you to misunderstand."

Nuonuo smiled apologetically at Da Bao, "Honestly, even though Mummy revealed the truth, I never felt like I wasn’t a child of the Ji Family. As you said, I just don’t share Daddy and Mummy’s blood. Otherwise, I’m the same as you and Little Treasure."

Nuonuo’s expression was quite calm, and it was apparent she wasn’t lying.

Actually, Nuonuo thought it over in just a day or two. After all, even if she knew that she wasn’t born to Le Tong, the warmth and love she received from her parents and the entire Ji Family were no less than what Little Treasure and her brother received, so she didn’t dwell on this issue.

And in the long time afterward, most of her thoughts were actually focused on the matters between her and her Da Bao brother.

Before, she always thought her feelings toward Brother Dabao were the admiration and dependence a sister has for her brother.

But after knowing she was not the Ji Family’s biological child, she couldn’t help but recall various past interactions with her brother.

Scenes and circumstances that she had firmly believed were expressions of a brother’s love for his sister seemed to hold many possibilities when re-examined from a different relationship and angle.

And all these possibilities ultimately aligned neatly towards one singular possibility.

And just now, Da Bao’s gentle light kiss in the car confirmed the possibility she had been suspecting, turning it into reality.

Nuonuo raised her eyebrows, her bright eyes filled with a smile.

"Did you just ask if I prefer to call you Ji Yu?"

"Hmm, have you decided?" Da Bao was a little surprised; he thought this little ostrich would at least wait until he finished a whole piece of toast before feeling forced to give him an answer.

Nuonuo, to his surprise, nodded without any shyness.

"Yes, I’ve decided."

In an instant, she made a decision about her recent hesitation and indecision.

She had been avoiding him unknowingly for so many years; these years, he must have endured it with great pain, right?

Nuonuo felt secretly sorry for her Da Bao brother.

"And then?"

In her vibrant eyes, Da Bao saw hope. At this moment, it felt like there was a string of bubbles fizzing up inside his chest, like a soda being vigorously shaken.

"Ji Yu, I like you!" As soon as she said these words, the suffocation weighing down her heart disappeared without a trace.

Nuonuo looked at the man in front of her without blinking. From this moment on, he was not her brother but the man she liked.

Even though Da Bao was mentally prepared, he didn’t expect to hear such a direct and explosive confession!
