Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 716 - 714 Captivated (Part 1)
Da Bao’s eyes stared fixedly at the sweet smile on Nuonuo’s face, his fists resting on his legs clenched and unclenched repeatedly.
Finally, after Nuonuo hung up the phone, Da Bao called out in a calm voice, "Nuonuo, come here!"
He patted the seat next to him with a serious expression, indicating for her to return to his side.
Nuonuo seemed unaware of her brother’s unusual behavior and obediently returned to his side, climbing onto the sofa and curling up like a little kitten next to him.
As for Little Treasure, he seemed to instantly sense the change in atmosphere. In a flash, he got up and bolted out of sight. He was smart enough to know it was best not to get involved in matters between Brother and Sister.
"Who is Si Jun?" Da Bao asked again, this time in a much more severe tone than before.
It was only then that Nuonuo noticed her brother’s unusual behavior and gave him a strange look, "My new friend."
"Boy or girl?" Da Bao knew this question was unnecessary; Si Jun was obviously a boy’s name!
"Of course it’s a boy!" Nuonuo gave Da Bao a rare look that seemed to say, "Brother, are you stupid?"
Da Bao took a deep breath, trying to quell the frustration building up in his chest.
"Classmate? Or a new member of the band?"
From what Nuonuo said earlier, it seemed that the person was a new member of the band.
However, Nuonuo shook her head.
Da Bao suppressed the wave of bizarre emotions surging in his heart, "Then where did he pop up from? He didn’t just drop from the sky, did he?" Da Bao’s tone was quite displeased.
Seldom being questioned in such a manner, Nuonuo glanced at him aggrievedly, "Brother, why are you so fierce? He’s a new friend I met today during a charity performance at the orphanage!"
Da Bao felt a surge of pent-up frustration rise in his chest, "Fierce? Brother is worried about you! You silly girl!"
Nuonuo pouted, "I’m not a silly girl, I’m almost twelve. Brother, you don’t have to worry about everything for me."
Nuonuo’s tone wasn’t heavy, it even had a bit of a coquettish tone unique to young girls, but it sounded extremely harsh to Da Bao’s ears.
"Alright, you say he’s your new friend and that I don’t have to worry about you anymore. Then tell me, how old is he? What kind of person is he? Is he reliable? Are you really sure he has no ulterior motives for being friends with you?"
Da Bao, somewhat exasperated, threw a series of questions at Nuonuo, though, in truth, the questions were far fewer than the number troubling him inside.
Nuonuo widened her eyes, staring at Da Bao incredulously.
When did her gentle and considerate Brother Dabao become so fierce?
Although she felt this brother was unfamiliar, Nuonuo still tried to make him understand that her new friend really was a good boy.
"Brother, he’s thirteen, a very well-behaved boy with a good temper, and the director said he’s a good student and takes good care of the kids at the orphanage."
The little girl’s expression was very earnest, and Da Bao looked at her with a slight frown. With every praise she gave Si Jun, it was as if she were swinging a sledgehammer at his heart.
"Are you really sure he has no ulterior motives for being friends with you?" Da Bao was still fixated on this question.
Who is Nuonuo?
Nuonuo is the little girl whom Da Bao has taken care of since childhood. If she raised an eyebrow, he would worry if she was hurting somewhere or upset.
The girl he carefully watched over and cherished every day was suddenly captivated by a boy she had met only hours ago; how could Da Bao not be concerned?
Indeed, in Da Bao’s eyes, this silly girl Nuonuo had been enchanted by a boy she had only recently met, named Si Jun!
Over the years, no outsider had ever been able to so quickly become friends with Nuonuo! Even Gu Xinyu and Sun Yuhuan, who were in her band, held only the positions of seniors in Nuonuo’s heart, far from being called friends.
Da Bao has watched her grow into a graceful young girl from the day she was a month old and could not be said to not understand her.
And it was precisely because he understood her that the word "friend" from her mouth set alarms ringing in his mind.
As he saw Nuonuo bite her lip in silence, Da Bao lifted her chin, directing her eyes to his, "What, you don’t know either, right?"
"Brother, Si Jun doesn’t know who I am, what could he possibly want with me?!" Nuonuo’s eyes glared at Da Bao, like a hedgehog provoked to anger.
Compared to how clever Da Bao and Little Treasure were, Nuonuo was considered slow; she only understood her special identity in the past few years.
So she knew exactly what Da Bao meant when he kept repeating that sentence.
And Da Bao was also infuriated by Nuonuo’s evident defense of Si Jun’s stance.
"Nuonuo, what attitude is this? For someone you just met, you’re going to stand up to me like this?"
Nuonuo’s good temper was known to all.
"Brother, you’re being unreasonable!" When Nuonuo persisted, she could also be like an enraged lioness.
"Unreasonable? I’m worried you’ll be deceived by someone with ill intentions, and I kindly remind you, but you treat me like an enemy?"
Da Bao’s tone unwittingly grew louder, the fire in his heart fueled by Nuonuo’s words and her clear defense of Si Jun.
Nuonuo tilted her head, stubbornly staring at him.
"No, it’s Brother who’s wrong!"
That pissed Da Bao off, and he muttered under his breath, damn! What a mess?
He had come rushing back happily, just wanting to see this little girl, previously thinking about how he had seemingly neglected her these past few days, so he wanted to pamper her.
Little did he know, before he even started to coax her, she drove him half mad with anger!
Da Bao squinted his eyes, pinching Nuonuo’s chin and forcing her to look at him directly.
"I’m wrong? I care about you, and that’s wrong?" Da Bao gritted his teeth and snorted, reaching a point where he was slightly confused by his anger, so much that he used a little more force than necessary.
Nuonuo had never been treated so harshly, especially by Da Bao, the person who had always cherished and protected her the most.
Her chin hurt terribly from being pinched, and tears unconsciously welled up in the corners of her eyes.
Yet, despite the pain in her chin, the little girl’s mouth was still stubborn. "Yes! You are wrong!"
"Ji Sihan, you’ve got guts! For a stinky boy, you’re even going to go against me?"
Da Bao saw the crystal tears appearing at the corners of Nuonuo’s eyes, knowing she was hurt, but his heart hurt more!
"Brother, I’m not!"
For the first time, Da Bao realized that this girl Nuonuo was stubborn to a frightening extent. Even though the pain brought her to tears, she persisted in her viewpoint.
And most annoyingly, her persistence, her stubbornness, was for a stinky boy she had only known for a few hours!
