Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 705 - 703 A Young Girl’s Thoughts (Fourth Update)
"Brother, Little Treasure and I are going for the shoot next week. When are you coming back? Weren’t you going to go with us?"
Da Bao received Nuonuo’s call while on a business trip in another city.
"Girl, I promise I’ll make it back before your shoot."
After living at the company for almost a month, Da Bao finally moved back home. But just after a few days, he had to leave again to promote a new game and became a frequent flyer with Zhong Hao, expanding markets in big cities.
By the time he received Nuonuo’s call, it had been half a month since the siblings last saw each other.
However, ever since returning from the tea field, even if he couldn’t make it home, Da Bao made sure to have a video call with Nuonuo every day. Nuonuo, being easily satisfied, slowly let go of her previous resentment knowing her brother’s hard work.
Zhong Hao, knowing how worried Da Bao was about Nuonuo and Little Treasure, said nothing when Da Bao expressed his wish to return to R City on Friday and immediately asked his assistant to book a plane ticket, ensuring he could handle the remaining work properly.
In fact, Da Bao naturally trusted Zhong Hao’s competence.
Previously, he had tried giving full control to Zhong Hao, and it never resulted in any problems.
But, Da Bao understood that he needed to be capable on his own, so that if one day no one could help him, he wouldn’t be helpless.
That’s why he’s been working so hard recently, wanting to be involved in everything.
A couple of years ago, when he decided to take over this subsidiary, he did it somewhat with a playful attitude, but now, he treats it as the foundation of his career.
Still, no matter how important company matters are, they never surpass Nuonuo and Little Treasure’s place in his heart.
At 9 PM, Da Bao emerged from the airport, dragging his luggage, when a car parked at the roadside opened with a "bang" and a little girl jumped out, shouting "Brother" as she ran towards him.
Da Bao frowned; at this hour, shouldn’t the little girl be at home doing her homework?
"Nuonuo, weren’t you supposed to wait for Brother at home?"
Da Bao’s luggage was taken over by Xiao Li, who followed along.
"Nuonuo insisted on coming to pick you up. Miss Le couldn’t argue anymore and let her come along."
For Da Bao and Nuonuo, Xiao Li was like a senior family member, and Xiao Li treated them like his own niece and nephew.
"Brother, I haven’t seen you in almost half a month."
Nuonuo was not angry upon being scolded but clung to his arm, dragging him towards the car.
Hearing her words, Da Bao’s heart instantly softened.
He kissed her forehead, hugged her, and got into the car.
"Brother, I’ve already packed the luggage for tomorrow’s trip, and yours as well." Nuonuo, probably afraid Da Bao would go hungry, handed him a box of warm milk while speaking.
Da Bao took the milk and sipped it.
"Such a good girl!"
"Sister Ziweng said she’ll have someone pick us up tomorrow."
In the past few days, Zhang Ziweng privately contacted Le Tong a few times to discuss some details for the shoot in advance.
Originally, these matters were to be discussed with Da Bao, but he couldn’t spare the time lately, so Le Tong, being the mom, handled it.
"We’ll drive ourselves there."
Although the photoshoot location was a four to five-hour drive from R City, Da Bao felt it more convenient to drive their own car there, and since Le Tong hadn’t mentioned this, it meant she was leaving the decision to Da Bao upon his return.
"Young Master Yu, the boss intends for me to go with you, to better take care of things if necessary."
As expected, Ji Rui and Le Tong’s thoughts aligned with Da Bao’s.
"It’ll be hard on Uncle Li then."
Having been with Ji Rui for many years, Xiao Li had a wide network of contacts, and the kids got along well with him too. With him to watch over them, Ji Rui and Le Tong felt much more at ease.
Once home, Da Bao hurriedly finished his dinner, urged Nuonuo into her bedroom, then grabbed his clothes for a shower.
After he showered, Nuonuo, who should’ve been asleep in her own room, was sitting on his bed looking through a book.
"Nuonuo, why aren’t you asleep?"
Da Bao tossed his towel onto the sofa and plopped down on the bed, flipping through Nuonuo’s book.
He thought it was a textbook, but it was an extracurricular book, and from the title, it seemed to be a romance novel.
"You’re missing sleep just to read this kind of book?"
Nuonuo gave him a puzzled look, "Brother, what’s wrong with this book? The girls in our class all love reading it."
Da Bao flipped through a few pages in silence, finding the language quite reserved, the writing beautiful, likely more of a youth literature piece than a simple romance.
"It’s fine for you to read it, but if you don’t understand something, don’t guess randomly. You can ask Mom or me, understood?"
Da Bao quickly adjusted his mindset, accepting that the little girl was growing day by day, anticipating the feelings between men and women, and wanting to learn more about this aspect.
This, for him, was actually a good thing.
Though he worried about her naivety, which could be misled by unsuitable literature, he couldn’t keep her from exploring the world.
"Yes, I know, Mom said the same thing." Nuonuo obediently closed the book.
"Mom knows about this?"
"Of course, Mom helped me pick out this book." Nuonuo candidly revealed Mom’s involvement.
Clever Da Bao sensed something amiss, "Didn’t you just say the girls in your class liked these books? How come now you say Mom chose it for you?"
Nuonuo then realized she inadvertently ratted her mom out, stuck her tongue out, and made a face at Da Bao.
"Well, Mom asked me what books the girls in our class liked, so I asked them and told Mom. She took me to buy a few of these books. Although they’re a bit different from what the girls in our class read, I think the ones Mom chose are better."
Silently, Da Bao applauded his mom in his mind, recognizing her as the most considerate and loving mom in the world!
At that moment, Da Bao faintly felt that he wasn’t fighting this battle alone.
"Yes, it’s indeed pretty good. Mom has a good eye. So, if Brother isn’t around, and you have questions, you can still talk to Mom, got it?"
Da Bao knew that over the years, Nuonuo had gotten used to turning to him first whenever there was something she needed help with.
However, given Nuonuo’s current stage, perhaps, Mom could offer more help and the right guidance than he could.
