Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 646 - 644: Sister Complex, Brother Complex (One more - )
Dabao stood quietly behind the two little kids, not making a sound.
The two kids were playing with great enthusiasm, making exaggerated sounds as the crickets tangled and wrestled each other.
Dabao stood there towering over them, without any intention of disturbing them, resting his head on his arm against a tree trunk, just watching quietly.
Nuonuo was timid and only occasionally used a twig to poke at the crickets. Little Treasure, on the other hand, would poke the crickets with his fingers now and then. Without a doubt, these innocent little creatures must have been brought by Little Treasure, the Little Demon King, from somewhere.
The two crickets seemed tired from their fight, and one of them jumped away. Little Treasure quickly covered it with his hand and tossed it into an empty milk carton with a rip in it. Then, he deftly threw the other one into another empty milk carton.
"Sister, how about we have Big Black and Dahuai compete when we get back?"
It seems that the struggle between these two little animals thoroughly aroused the latent bloodthirsty tendencies of Little Treasure, the Little Demon King. Though he said it was a competition, he actually meant a dogfight.
Nuonuo couldn’t agree with her brother’s bold suggestion.
"No way, Brother will scold us to death!" In Nuonuo’s eyes, Brother Dabao was not to be defied.
Actually, Nuonuo was worrying for nothing. The two Alaskan malamutes at home, who had grown from Little Black and Little Grey to Big Black and Dahuai, were well-fed and chubby, with no trace of wildness left. They wouldn’t fight even if you tried to make them.
Little Treasure leaned over to Nuonuo’s ear and whispered sneakily, "Secretly, okay? Who told you to tell Brother?"
Dabao coughed twice, and the two little kids squatting on the ground were startled, looking up suddenly.
"Brother!" Nuonuo shouted crisply and quickly stood up, hugging Dabao’s waist. Little Treasure, on the other hand, shrunk his head guiltily, his eyes darting around, hiding the two milk cartons behind his back.
"Little Treasure, what good stuff are you hiding?" Dabao pretended to know nothing, squinting with a smile as he looked at Little Treasure.
"N-n-nothing..."
Little Treasure stammered, which was rare. He was not really afraid of Dabao discovering the two crickets; he just realized that Dabao had heard him urging Nuonuo to have a dogfight.
"Do you like fighting that much? How about we have a match tonight?" Dabao teased, pinching Little Treasure’s cheek with a smile.
"No way!" Little Treasure replied swiftly, an air of defiance on his face.
Kidding! Everyone knew Brother Dabao was skilled at fighting. If he put his heart into fighting me, I would be in big trouble.
"Little Treasure was just saying, I wouldn’t really have Dahuai and Big Black fight..."
Dabao tapped his head, "Better not!"
Little Treasure pouted, then ran away with the two milk cartons in hand, while Dabao held Nuonuo’s hand, following leisurely behind.
"Where did the crickets come from?" Dabao casually asked Nuonuo.
Nuonuo looked up at him cautiously, replying, "Nuonuo and Little Treasure found them on the grass..."
This little girl understood well; knowing that finding them was completely different from intentionally catching them.
Dabao didn’t oppose his younger siblings having appropriate fun, as long as it wasn’t dangerous. Catching crickets in the grass wasn’t dangerous, so he was okay with it.
So, seeing Little Treasure’s guilty look, Dabao actually wanted to laugh.
However, for a lively child like Little Treasure, the feeling of guilt never lasted long.
Sure enough, he soon turned around after a few hops and ran back to Dabao’s side.
"Brother..."
Dabao looked down at Little Treasure who was tugging at his sleeve, "Hmm?!", he didn’t intend to pursue the cricket-catching matter further.
"Sister, she..." Little Treasure pointed at Nuonuo, whose face suddenly looked unnatural, "Little Treasure, don’t talk nonsense."
Even though Little Treasure hadn’t had time to say anything, the silly girl already showed her guilt.
Dabao glanced left and right at the two little kids, "Come clean and face it, resist and face consequences, so, who wants to tell me?"
Nuonuo bit her lip and said nothing, silently speeding up her steps, her pigtails swinging and her little backpack bouncing on her back.
Dabao furrowed his brow slightly and softly asked Little Treasure, "Little Treasure, did Sister fail her exam?"
Nuonuo was very well-behaved, being a model student in school. Other than academics, Dabao couldn’t think of what else could make Nuonuo act so uneasy.
Little Treasure sneaked a glance at Nuonuo’s back, then secretively told Dabao, "Sister got scolded by the teacher today."
Dabao couldn’t help but be taken aback; Nuonuo got scolded? He might believe it if it was Little Treasure getting scolded, but Nuonuo... how was that possible?
"Why was Nuonuo scolded?" Based on Little Treasure’s earlier words, it didn’t seem like it was due to her exam grades.
"Nuonuo passed a note to another classmate during class, and the teacher caught her and scolded her in front of the whole class."
Dabao knitted his brows, "Did the teacher wrongfully accuse Nuonuo? Isn’t she always very serious in class?"
She never said a word about it, but Dabao knew that she probably realized early on she wasn’t as talented as her brother and sister. So in studying, and anything else, she was extraordinarily diligent and earnest.
"The boy sitting behind her passed a note to her; she wrote a few words on it and passed it back, then the teacher saw it." Little Treasure, in charge of protecting his sister, was always very mindful of her conduct in class.
"What did the note say?" Dabao was more concerned about the contents of the note than Nuonuo being scolded.
"That toad Ye Chaowen actually wanted to invite Sister to the park this weekend, hmph!"
Little Treasure’s face was full of disdain. Despite his young age, Dabao and Le Tong had instilled in him the belief of protecting his sister. Although he sometimes would play pranks on Nuonuo himself, he was, like Dabao, excessively protective of her in front of others.
Calling Dabao a sister-con and brother-con, Little Treasure was unquestionably a sister-con and brother-con too.
Hearing this, Dabao’s expression darkened immediately, recalling a round, ball-like chubby figure.
"Ye Chaowen? That chubby little guy who looks like a ball?"
"Yes, that’s him!"
"What did Nuonuo write on the note?" Dabao, irate yet curious.
"Of course, she refused! Even if Sister didn’t refuse, I wouldn’t agree!" Little Treasure puffed his chest out, taking on a legit ’Flower Guardian’ stance.
Dabao patted his head, generously expressing his approval and praise, "Not bad! Little Treasure did well!"
