Chapter 634: Chapter 632 A False Alarm (Second Update)

Before you know it, the semester is halfway through. Da Bao has mid-term exams these days, while Nuonuo and Little Treasure in the preschool section have a parent-child activity.

On the day of the event, Da Bao naturally can’t join his younger siblings for fun due to the exams. Since the two little ones are in different classes, they each need a parent to accompany them. Ji Rui and Le Tong briefly sorted out company affairs and then Ji Rui accompanied Little Treasure, while Le Tong joined Nuonuo for the fun activity.

Nuonuo looked slightly disappointed when she saw Le Tong.

"Mommy, where’s Brother?"

In fact, Da Bao had already told Nuonuo that he needed to take exams, and probably wouldn’t have time to accompany her. But Nuonuo stubbornly believed that no matter how busy Brother was, as long as she needed, Brother would find ways to be with her.

"Brother has exams today and can’t be here with Nuonuo. What games does Nuonuo want to play? Mommy will play with you!"

Though a bit disappointed, Nuonuo wasn’t upset enough to spoil her mood. As Le Tong led her out to the playground, she instantly became excited.

The kindergarten had added many play facilities temporarily both indoors and outdoors for the children to enjoy. Facilities like bouncy beds and ball pools, which are suitable for young children, were particularly crowded.

Nuonuo and Le Tong strolled around hand in hand for a bit. Nuonuo, who was initially eager to try everything, kept muttering about wanting to play with her brother. Le Tong specially asked the teacher, and upon learning that free movement was allowed, she called Ji Rui to bring Little Treasure over to meet at the ball pool.

Soon, Ji Rui ran over with Little Treasure. The siblings held hands warmly upon meeting and rushed into the ball pool together.

The two little rascals were giggling and frolicking in the ball pool, while Ji Rui and Le Tong stood side by side watching them, "Two kids are indeed happier than one!"

Ji Rui sighed emotionally again. Le Tong glanced at him, knowing he was reminiscing about Da Bao’s childhood.

"Mr. Ji, you’ve been particularly sentimental lately!"

Ji Rui touched her long, straight black hair hanging over her shoulders and boldly claimed, "It’s contagious from you."

Le Tong rolled her eyes at him, "Don’t slander me, you’re the one going through menopause, aren’t you?!"

Ji Rui raised his eyebrows slightly and leaned over to whisper suggestively in her ear, "My menopause? Who kept saying ’no, no’ last night?"

Le Tong’s face instantly turned red. Fanning her face with her hand, she looked around nervously. Seeing no one was paying attention to them, she let out a long sigh of relief.

The more she thought, the more upset she became. She bent her knees to bump Ji Rui’s calf to vent her annoyance.

Ji Rui didn’t retaliate, instead gently taking her hand dangling by her side. In public, of course, Le Tong didn’t want to do anything out of line, so she let him hold her hand, her gaze following the two children happily playing in the ball pool.

After a while, Le Tong seemed to remember something and tugged Ji Rui’s hand.

"Hmm?!" Ji Rui pulled his gaze back from the children, and seeing Le Tong’s slightly changed expression, he was instantly flustered and covered her forehead with his big hand, "Are you unwell?"

Le Tong shook her head, slightly tiptoeing to whisper softly into his ear, "My period hasn’t come this month..."

Ji Rui froze for a moment, then reacted.

"No way..." Ji Rui’s face was full of worry.

He didn’t mind having one more child in the family, but he instinctively rejected the idea upon remembering Le Tong’s painful experiences during Little Treasure’s pregnancy and delivery. He couldn’t experience the pain himself, but he couldn’t bear for Le Tong to go through it again.

However, he also heard that inducing pregnancy can be more harmful to the body than carrying it to term.

"Sigh, maybe I’m overthinking. I’ll buy a test kit from the pharmacy on the way home and check. If there’s really a baby, it’s okay to keep it. Anyway, Da Bao, Little Treasure, and Nuonuo all like babies."

Le Tong quickly accepted the idea, considering a baby a precious gift from heaven. If there was one, she would absolutely cherish him/her.

Ji Rui nodded, not saying anything further. Le Tong originally wanted to ask for his thoughts, but seeing him silent, she assumed he didn’t want another baby.

Le Tong considered how to persuade Ji Rui to accept the possibility, but quickly realized she wasn’t even sure yet. Maybe her period was just delayed due to hormonal imbalance.

After Da Bao’s exams, he headed from the middle school department to reunite with his parents and siblings. Midway, Le Tong asked the driver to stop the car, and she and Ji Rui went into a nearby pharmacy.

Thinking his mommy was sick, Da Bao worriedly asked the driver to watch Little Treasure and Nuonuo as he hurried off the car and ran into the pharmacy.

He walked in just in time to see Le Tong holding a pregnancy test kit at the checkout, instantly understanding everything.

After paying, Da Bao pulled at Le Tong at the doorway, asking, "Mommy, are we having another baby?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Le Tong didn’t answer him immediately, carefully observing her son’s expression. Strangely, his face, like his dad’s, was filled with concern.

Indeed, a father-son pair!

The thing was, though Le Tong could guess why Ji Rui didn’t want more kids, Da Bao loved babies and should be happy about it.

She clearly recalled Da Bao’s joy when he held Nuonuo and the newborn Little Treasure.

"Da Bao, don’t you like it?" Le Tong probed.

Da Bao bit his lip, thought for a while, and said, "Mommy, I don’t want you to suffer anymore!"

The little one’s thoughts were precisely like his father’s.

However, Le Tong wasn’t aware Ji Rui shared the same view, simply thinking his reluctance stemmed from the fear that a new baby might divide Le Tong’s love.

"Silly boy, a mother never thinks of pregnancy as suffering. Quite the opposite, carrying you and Little Treasure were Mommy’s happiest times, you know?" Le Tong gently patted her son’s head, soothingly.

Back home, Le Tong rushed to the bathroom. A few minutes later, she came out with a complicated expression.

"How did it go?" Ji Rui and Da Bao immediately came up.

Le Tong shook her head, "False alarm."

While she said it was a false alarm, Le Tong actually had a hint of anticipation. Yet, she dared not ask for more, seeing as how Doctor Fu had already said it was a miracle she conceived Little Treasure.

Now, with Da Bao, Nuonuo, and Little Treasure, she felt content.

Father and son both breathed a sigh of relief.

The following night, Little Treasure and Nuonuo were huddled in the corner playing with something, while Da Bao leaned beside Le Tong reading a book. Ji Rui, initially reading the newspaper, suddenly looked up at Da Bao.

"In our family, we’ll have to wait until Da Bao becomes a dad to have more kids."
