Chapter 617: Chapter 615: Properly Educate

"Why don’t you like your sister?"

Le Tong put Nuonuo on the sofa and handed her a stuffed cat toy she loved, engaging the little girl with great interest.

Nuonuo lay on Le Tong’s lap holding the toy, thought for a moment, and finally shook her head in confusion.

Kids, they all have a bit of possessiveness, and they’re especially sensitive with very accurate instincts. Le Tong still remembers when she had a falling out with Ji Rui and flew to D Province to escape, Da Bao was also filled with hostility towards the little girl Wenwen, fearing that Wenwen might take away the love that was supposed to be all his own.

And whether Nuonuo had the same fear at this moment, Le Tong wasn’t sure. After all, liking is just liking, and disliking is just disliking. For a child just over two years old, there’s really no need for any reason to explain it.

"Mommy, find Brother!"

Nuonuo hadn’t been lying on Le Tong for more than a few minutes before clamoring to go downstairs to find Da Bao.

Le Tong wanted to keep Nuonuo in the room a while longer so Da Bao could spend more time with his classmates, but Nuonuo’s face was so dejected and lost that Le Tong, as a mother, couldn’t bear to confine her here any longer. Today was her most beloved brother’s birthday, and despite her young age, she shouldn’t be deprived of the right to celebrate it with him.

Le Tong held Nuonuo’s hand as they walked out into the yard. The yard was bustling with a large group of children, and several grills were set up side by side, with most of the kids gathered around them roasting meat.

Le Tong looked around, trying to spot her elder son, but Nuonuo freed herself from her hand and ran like the wind toward the shade of the mango tree. The soft turf laid across the yard’s open space, so Le Tong wasn’t worried about letting Nuonuo run off on her own.

Though she had no idea what Nuonuo was running over there for.

"Shao Yuxin, thank you for the gift." Ji Yu, dressed in a casual hooded T-shirt and black jeans, casually tucked one hand into his pocket and accepted the gift from Shao Yuxin with the other. Beside him was his perennial shield, Yin Zhihao.

"Hey, Yu Xin, when did you prepare a gift? Didn’t we agree to pool our money together to get Ji Yu a present? I distinctly remember you were part of the pot."

Yin Zhihao, the fool, doesn’t know if he’s genuinely exposing the awkwardness to make his ’goddess’ unhappy or if he’s just plain dumb!

Yet Ji Yu really likes this ’silly’ aspect of Yin Zhihao.

Sure enough, Shao Yuxin glared fiercely at Yin Zhihao, "Yin Zhihao, if you don’t speak, no one will mistake you for a mute!"

Yin Zhihao was about to say something when he heard a childish voice coming from behind.

"Brother! Brother!"

Ji Yu and Yin Zhihao both turned around, and little Nuonuo was standing behind Ji Yu, tugging at his pants with her little face upturned and pitifully calling out.

"Nuonuo, why did you run out again?"

Da Bao bent down to pick her up quickly, puzzled. He was dragged under the tree shade by Shao Yuxin, and from the view of the terrace inside, it shouldn’t have been possible for anyone to see him. How did this little girl find him? Could it be that she installed a tracker on him?

Thinking about this ridiculous reason, Ji Yu couldn’t help but laugh freely, and naturally, rubbed his lips against Nuonuo’s soft face.

Shao Yuxin watched the interaction between the siblings with eyes full of envy, lost in thought for a while before speaking.

"Ji Yu, you’re really good to your sister!"

Da Bao just smiled and didn’t say anything. How he treated his sister needed no explanation to someone who wasn’t even considered a friend.

Yin Zhihao, with an arm around Da Bao’s shoulder, glared at Shao Yuxin, "Isn’t that obvious? If he’s not good to his sister, should he be good to you?"

Shao Yuxin coughed awkwardly twice, but Da Bao didn’t even look at her, as Nuonuo pointed at the grilled food on the barbecue nearby and whined, "Brother, Nuonuo wants to eat..."

"Hungry?" Da Bao nuzzled Nuonuo’s face with his nose.

"Yeah... my tummy’s grumbling..." Nuonuo pouted, grabbing Da Bao’s hand and placing it on her belly, her hungry little look was quite pitiful.

Da Bao’s smile hung on his lips as he picked her up and turned to walk over, calling back to Yin Zhihao.

"Zhihao, you guys come and join us too."

The gift Shao Yuxin gave him was casually left on the table under the sun umbrella, where a pile of variously wrapped gifts lay.

Shao Yuxin silently followed behind him, watching the gift she had painstakingly chosen over days just get lumped together casually with the others, feeling quite uncomfortable in her heart.

"Yu Xin, didn’t Ji Yu tell us not to spend money? What did you go and buy for him?" Yin Zhihao cluelessly kept pressing Shao Yuxin.

Shao Yuxin was too heartbroken to even want to talk to him, but being used to treating others with grace, she couldn’t show the anger and discontent in Ji Yu’s territory.

"I didn’t buy anything, just picked a book from my shelf to give him, hoping he’d like it." Shao Yuxin certainly hadn’t given a book, but Yin Zhihao believed her.

"You gave Ji Yu a book? He doesn’t like reading!"

Shao Yuxin scorned him silently a thousand times, speeding up to catch up with Ji Yu.

"Little Han, what do you like to eat? Sister will help grill it for you!"

Since wooing him directly was impossible, she thought of going through the little girl instead.

Nuonuo had always been called Nuonuo by everyone in the Ji Family and the Yang Family; hardly anyone ever used her formal name, and she didn’t react to the name Little Han at all. Moreover, she instinctively harbored hostility towards Shao Yuxin. When Shao Yuxin approached, she naturally turned her head away, and those unaware would think that the little girl was metaphorically farting in her face.

And Shao Yuxin’s face indeed felt a bit embarrassed. Being someone accustomed to adoration, being repeatedly neglected by Ji Yu was something she could accept, given his renowned genius status, but having even a little girl blatantly snub her was too much.

"Ji Yu, your sister’s quite the handful!" Shao Yuxin said with a sweet smile on her face, making it seem like she was joking, with no offended intent.

Da Bao frowned slightly and glanced at Shao Yuxin with disinterest.

"What’s it got to do with you?"

His sister had always been good-natured! Today she was indeed a bit spoiled, but mostly because she was in sync with him and found Shao Yuxin annoying.

Da Bao’s evident hostility made Shao Yuxin slightly uneasy. After a moment, she forced out an awkward smile.

"Don’t they say that the character formed by age three lasts a lifetime? Isn’t she yet to be three, still time to educate her properly."

Da Bao’s face darkened immediately, "Who said my sister needs educating? She’s great as she is, it’s you who needs it!"
