Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 116: Want to Give You a Surprise
Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Want to Give You a Surprise
"Brother Li, I’m so sorry, I fell asleep. Where’s the President?"
"He went up to work and specifically asked me to stay here with you."
Le Tong was taken aback, thinking she must have misheard.
"Eh?!"
Driver Li got out of the car and helped the still groggy Le Tong open the car door.
"The President might be worried it’s not safe for you to sleep in the car alone, so he left me here to stay with you."
Le Tong felt the blood rush to her head, lowered her head to thank Driver Li, stumbled out of the car, and dashed into the elevator as if fleeing for her life. Once inside, she stared blankly at her tomato-red face in the elevator mirror until the elevator "dinged" and opened, bringing her back to her senses as she stepped out.
She accidentally fell asleep in the car, and knowing Ji Rui’s personality, shouldn’t he be mad?
But the always egocentric President Ji was so considerate to have the driver stay with her?
Le Tong thought that she must still be dreaming, which is why such an unimaginable thing happened in her dreams.
Normally, this wouldn’t be a big deal, but because it involved Ji Rui, Le Tong found it incredible and added to the sense of unreality.
Le Tong sat dazed in her chair for a while, opened the file but couldn’t concentrate on reading it, so she got up to make herself a cup of coffee in the pantry. Standing by the window, gazing at the bright blue sky outside, she sipped the coffee until she returned to normal.
Ji Rui’s moods were famously volatile, this sudden act of thoughtfulness today was probably because of that half breakfast she offered in the morning, or perhaps because she helped him dodge drinks at the banquet.
With a reasonable explanation, Le Tong’s heart gradually calmed down. She stopped overthinking about Ji Rui and swiftly returned to working seriously.
Ji Rui went out once in the middle, but Le Tong didn’t know why, it seemed urgent, as he called the driver and left.
Soon after Ji Rui left, the computer Le Tong was using suddenly blacked out. She assumed it got a virus, but when she called the tech department, she found out it wasn’t just her computer. The entire Ji Family’s computer system went dark in that instant; it seemed like the whole system was down.
Unable to use the computer, Le Tong wasn’t too worried, as she still had plenty of tasks on hand to handle.
After burying herself in work for who knows how long, the tech department notified that the computers could now be used as usual.
Le Tong restarted her computer and continued with her work.
"Tatatata"
Le Tong heard a sound, looked up, and saw a man who should have been in K City, not here at Ji Family.
"Zhong Hao, what are you doing here?"
Zhong Hao, whom she had met once, stood smiling at her desk.
Zhong Hao glanced at Le Tong’s computer and asked, "Didn’t your computer black out?"
Le Tong was puzzled, "It did. How did you know my computer blacked out?" she instinctively grew wary of him.
If her first impression of Zhong Hao hadn’t been pleasant, Le Tong might have lumped him with those flashy young men like Zhuo Jiarui, who had nothing better to do than flirt around all day.
Zhong Hao chuckled and handed her a business card, "Hello, I’m Zhong Hao from Jisu Company! Miss Le, looking forward to working with you!"
Le Tong took his business card, which read: Director of Technology, Jisu Company [Zhong Hao].
Le Tong knew about Jisu Company; it’s a long-term partner with the Ji Family, providing practically all their hardware and software. Hence, computer maintenance naturally became Jisu Company’s responsibility.
"I don’t remember you mentioning you worked for Jisu last time?" Le Tong felt a bit deceived.
"Yes, I thought we’d definitely meet again when I returned, so I wanted to give you a surprise."
Le Tong wasn’t sure if the surprise Zhong Hao mentioned was a joke, but seeing him again brought her no joy, just surprise.
After all, that was normal. To her, Zhong Hao was barely more familiar than a stranger; what was there to be happy about?
"Not in a rush to leave?"
Le Tong wasn’t used to socializing with friends during work hours, so she subtly hinted for him to leave.
Zhong Hao remained grinning at her, which bewildered Le Tong. He didn’t seem to laugh this much the last time they met, did he?
As they say, you don’t hit a smiling face. His constant smiling left her unsure of how to send him away.
"A few staff members are fixing some minor issues in the server room. I’ll leave once they’re done."
His detailed explanation embarrassed Le Tong a bit.
"Have a seat, I’ll get you some water!"
She pointed to the chair in front of her desk, indicating for him to sit, then got up to prepare some water in the pantry.
"Is there coffee?" Zhong Hao asked unabashedly from behind her.
Le Tong didn’t reply, directly made a cup of coffee, and walked out.
"I recall your colleague came half a month ago to check all our computers. How come there’s a problem again so soon?"
Le Tong handed the coffee to Zhong Hao and sat down herself, focusing on him.
She knew nothing about computers, which led her to admire Zhong Hao for becoming a tech director so young.
Zhong Hao sipped his coffee slowly, "It was a hacker!"
Le Tong was startled. Though clueless about computers, she knew what hackers were.
"So our company..."
Le Tong wanted to ask if their company hadn’t suffered significant losses, but considering it was related to Ji Family’s internal affairs, she didn’t finish the sentence.
Nevertheless, Zhong Hao inferred her meaning from the half-spoken question, "No, I encrypted your company’s system and set many traps. The hacker should be caught soon."
Hearing the company was fine, Le Tong breathed a sigh of relief.
As they were talking, the elevator door "dinged" open, and the hurriedly departed President Ji stepped out.
"Mr. Ji, hello!" Zhong Hao stood up to greet Ji Rui.
Ji Rui apparently knew Zhong Hao and nodded politely, "Director Zhong, hello. Can the computers operate normally now?"
Having said that, Ji Rui stared quizzically at Zhong Hao, wondering why he wasn’t in the tech department sorting out the Ji Family’s service fees but was instead visiting his secretary.
"Yes, a few of my colleagues are still fine-tuning things. The real culprit should be identified soon."
Evidently, the system assault was already discussed between them over the phone.
Ji Rui’s gaze moved from Le Tong’s computer to her, "Did her computer have a particular issue?"
