Traveler of the River of Time and Space-Chapter 527 - 11: Shining Technology
The people of this world seem to enjoy living underground.
When Su Ziyu followed Jian to the main base of the Rebel Army, he couldn’t help but marvel that the natives of this world had really maxed out their digging skills.
The main base of the Rebel Army was called Iron Mountain, originally a rich iron mine. Once they dug down hundreds of meters, they established their headquarters there. The entire underground base was vast, almost like a small town, with around ten thousand people living there. It housed comprehensive facilities, including a planting area, residential zone, medical area, arsenal, and more.
The man named Bobbi led Su Ziyu to a separate bedroom and said, "You can rest here for now. I’ll take you to the dining hall in an hour."
Su Ziyu nodded slightly, then pointed to the light green iron lump not far away and asked, "What is that?"
"Oh, that! It’s a nutrient machine," Bobbi glanced at the dusty machine in the corner and said, "It extracts and produces nutrient paste from organic materials. The feed slot is on the other side."
"It’s been a long time since it was last used."
"Trust me, you absolutely wouldn’t like the taste of that thing."
"When the main base was first constructed, before the planting area was set up, we survived on this for a while."
A machine synthesizing food?
Su Ziyu chuckled, pushed the door open, and entered the room.
The room was quite simply furnished: a bed, a light bulb, a table, a simple cabinet, and a small mechanical clock statue.
"This thing?" Su Ziyu looked slightly surprised and reached out to touch the small statue before him.
Made of metal, iron gray, very intricate, it looked like a real clock but seemed like some kind of ritual artifact. Most surprisingly, it was consecrated, with a faint Spiritual Light on it, seemingly having a weak soothing effect on the spirit upon contact.
"Who made this?" Su Ziyu muttered.
The Spiritual Light on this thing couldn’t be added by just anyone; it had to be a Priest or someone from a special profession.
It’s quite magical.
Su Ziyu stepped out, saw no one outside, and with a slight movement of his fingertips, opened the adjacent room. It was similarly furnished, but instead of a clock, there was a metal statue of a complex lever sphere.
"Do they use these things to soothe their minds?" Su Ziyu mused.
In a world filled with psychic whispers, normal people would be affected to some degree by pollution.
In more modern terms, it’s like a decrease in SAN (Sanity) points.
The small statue in the room could slightly help clear the mind and regain some sanity.
After understanding more about this world, Su Ziyu also came to know what was up with those savages living outside, who were partly ancient natives and partly true savages.
Most of these people were inherently mentally insensitive, not sensitive enough internally, so they could live outside without an issue.
Most of them might never hear psychic whispers in their entire life.
Using a normal person as a standard, the average mental sensitivity is 1, occasionally hearing psychic whispers. Those associated with the Empire have a sensitivity of 1-2, enduring long-term influences of psychic whispers, including these rebel forces of the Empire, while the Empire’s nobility has a sensitivity of 2+, born plagued by psychic whispers.
As for the savages who can normally operate outside, their mental sensitivity is naturally 0-0.5.
There are some among them who are completely mentally deaf.
This also means they can never perceive Spiritual Energy and have no talent for acquiring Spiritual Energy through cultivation. This group had been abandoned by the Empire many years ago. During that time, only those with talent could join the Empire, and only their tribal groups would be accepted to learn advanced knowledge. Those without talent were abandoned, but now, having no Spiritual Talent has become a protection for them.
Su Ziyu returned to the room and took out the Holy Blood Light Saber and ordered, "System."
"Unlock Genetic Lock."
In an instant, a vast stream of data appeared in Su Ziyu’s mind. His spirit was slightly dazed, and then he gradually returned to normal.
Indeed, unlocking the Genetic Lock was quite burdensome.
Su Ziyu temporarily blocked the data stream in his mind and began sorting through his other spoils of war.
The Empire Knight’s standard light sabers were almost identical. However, after Su Ziyu dismantled it, he found a battery inside, smaller than the Wasteland Plane’s nuclear fusion battery, with greater output power, but still far less than the unknown Energy Crystal inside the Holy Blood Light Saber. The sword’s hilt tip contained a plasma confinement device, shaping it into a sword form, with technology beyond understanding. The principles remain unclear for now.
Every Plane has its unique characteristics.
In the Black Soul Plane, Su Ziyu could easily acquire Soul Energy, but in this Plane, his greatest gain should be various types of advanced technologies.
"I wonder if I can get my hands on a spaceship?" Su Ziyu thought to himself.
If he could acquire a spaceship, it would greatly aid his future endeavors.
An hour later.
Light footsteps sounded outside the door, followed by Jian’s voice, "Su? Are you there?"
Su Ziyu opened the door and said, "Are you done with your tasks?"
"Yes." Jian nodded and said, "The items have been handed over. Let’s go. I’ll take you to the dining hall for some food."
The Rebel Army’s cafeteria was quite luxurious.
It covered more than a thousand square meters, with tables placed around. There were many types of food, but the main ingredient was potatoes, potatoes, and more potatoes, accompanied by meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, and so on.
Su Ziyu, evidently not very interested in a cafeteria where potatoes were the staple, pondered.
"Want to try something over there?" Jian, noticing Su Ziyu hardly ate anything, enthusiastically suggested, "There’s an immersive virtual game pod over there."
"The games inside are quite fun."
"When we feel too tense or fatigued, we apply to go in and relax."
A game pod?
Is there something this good here?
Su Ziyu was quite surprised and nodded, "Lead the way, I’d like to take a look."
This should be the recreation room.
An era-straddling space with items like TVs, computers, and game consoles placed around, spanning decades in time. But the innermost entertainment hall was lavishly decorated, with entrance control via retinal scan. With a beep, Jian opened one of the special enclosed rooms. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
—"Shining Technology! Mind-blowing!"
As Su Ziyu stepped into the room, he was amazed by the sight of a massive silver-white metal pod before him.
"This is a gem the Rebel Army salvaged from an interstellar merchant ship," Jian said with a smile, observing Su Ziyu’s astonishment, "It’s rumored to be from a far-off Shining Technology civilization."
"Their pharmaceuticals are also impressive."
"Want to give it a try?"
Su Ziyu nodded, "Let’s give it a try. I’m quite interested."
