Chapter 426: Is there something you don’t like?

After that touching moment, and crying for a while longer, I began looking through the magazine again.

"Hyung?" Min-Cheol called and I raised my head, shamelessly showing off my puffy eyes from all the tears I shed.

"Yes?"

He saw this and then laughed softly.

"You’re adorable." He said and I twisted my lips.

That’s my line, you big baby. But I’ll let you have the last laugh this time.

"How’s your neck?" I asked, hoping he wasn’t feeling discomfort of any kind.

"I can’t even feel it." He said and my eyes widened, alarmed.

"You can’t feel your neck?" I asked but he laughed.

"No, not that." He said. "I meant I couldn’t feel any discomfort."

I sighed in relief.

If there’s no discomfort then it’s fine.

I faced the magazine, simply looking through the pretty clothes while Min-Cheol watched me.

Then, his phone rang.

He frowned and decided to ignore it.

It was clear that he wasn’t going to answer but I urged him to.

"Answer it," I said. "It could be serious."

Min-Cheol wasn’t happy about this, but he guessed he had to do it, otherwise I’d get mad at him.

"I’ll be back, Hyung."

He got up and went to take the call, leaving me there to look through the magazine.

I wasn’t particularly interested in buying clothes or jewelry. I already had a lot in my closet that I haven’t even seen with my own eyes.

Maybe I can just get gifts for my masters, but what exactly could they want? I mean, they aren’t lacking anything.

But I want to show my sincerity in the gift as well. I want it to speak their names, metaphorically though. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Then, my eyes caught a stone. Sapphire.

As soon as I saw it, I was immediately reminded of Min-Cheol. It had a strict resemblance to those innocent eyes of his.

Then, it hit me.

Something I could give them.

"Um," I turned to the attendant at the entrance of the lounge. "Can I speak to the manager?" She flinched, thinking she might’ve made me dissatisfied.

"Is... Is there something you don’t like?" She asked, and I could see the sweat rolling down the corner of her face.

"No, not at all," I said and smiled. "Quite the contrary."

She gulped and then went to get the manager.

As the manager walked in, he dabbed the sweat on his forehead, thinking something might go wrong with a little slip.

He showed so much hospitality, with his shoulder bent down completely.

I had walked in with one of the powerful Alphas, after all. And the attendant was a witness to how much affection he had for me.

"There’s no problem," I said, first of all. "But I wonder if I can get in contact with a famous jewel artisan. I want to place a commission."

They both exchanged looks and then turned to me.

"Commission?"

Yes, the perfect gift that came to mind was none other than brooches.

They have a lot of brooches already with different colors but I wanted to make one for each of them, and the gemstones used would reflect their eyes perfectly.

Sapphire for Min-Cheol, Ruby for Seo-Jun, Emerald for Jin-Yeok, and a black diamond for Ki-hoon.

I feel this will make a perfect present.

"Please give this to him," I said, handing them a piece of paper.

I was told the artisan was out of the country at the moment but he could be contacted right away if I wanted.

I didn’t want to disturb him since my order wasn’t urgent so instead, I left the message with my phone number.

"He can give me a call and then set the price," I said. "I’ll pay whatever amount he asks for." I smiled.

If it was for them, I could use all the money I have in my account.

Once the manager left, Min-Cheol walked in.

He glanced at me and then asked,

"Everything okay?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Well, it’s just as if you found something you want to buy," he said, sitting down next to me and I tilted my head.

"Well, let’s just say that’s the case."

"What is it?" He asked, his eyes suddenly glittering as he was taken by curiosity.

"Ah, it’s a secret." I winked and his curious face fell. "And... It’s a gift so don’t ask about it for now. You don’t want to ruin the surprise, do you?"

"N-no," he said. "I don’t want to ruin the surprise."

He looked so gullible.

"Well, shall we head to the next place?"

From there, we headed to other places. A bookstore, a park where we got ice cream and I found out Min-Cheol was quite the fan of ice cream.

And afterwards, he sat outside a convenience store slurping on canned noodles.

It was already past five. We’d have to start heading home soon, but I wanted to take a stroll. Not the kind we had in the park. I wanted to walk around, feeling a little bit of the night breeze as the crowd of people passed us like time.

Maybe I wanted too much.

Min-Cheol wasn’t in good condition either.

I should just be contended with this.

"Are you okay?" Min-Cheol asked and I flinched.

"What?"

I looked up to find his concerned gaze on me

"You look like something is troubling you." He said, and I rolled my eyes at the half-eaten noodles.

I spaced out, but I didn’t think I was showing my worry so much on my face. And I thought I was good at hiding my feelings.

I gave a sorry smile.

"Is it that obvious?" I asked.

He reached for my hand across the table and held it.

"What’s the matter? I’ll help."

He’s saying that despite not knowing what I want. I guess he’s just confident that he can afford to give me anything and everything I want.

That’s not a wrong thought.

"I just wanted to take an evening stroll," I said, smiling sadly. "But we can’t do that because you’re hurt and..." I glanced at the guards barricading around us.

It was suffocating. If they could give us even a little space, a distance that makes it seem like they’re not around, I’d appreciate it, but... I should consider Min-Cheol’s safety.

With the corporation coming, there might be a lot of enemies lurking around.

I wondered on this softly and then decided to let it go.

"Just forget it. It’s not a big deal." I said, and began slurping the noodles again.

Yeah, let’s not be selfish and cause an irreversible mistake. That’s the last thing I want at the moment.

But as I slurped away, Min-Cheol stared at me. Even with no words said, he somehow knew what I wanted.

I can’t even begin to explain how but he did.

He turned to his guards and then flicked his hand a bit, calling forth the head guard.

I watched, wondering if we were leaving already when he said,

"From here on out, keep your distance. Hyung and I need some space."

I paused.

Did he just... Read my mind?

No way, right?

Min-Cheol looked at me and smiled.

"Let’s do what you want to do, Hyung. Nothing will happen."

I was dumbstruck. I knew he was very considerate but I didn’t take him for reckless either. Seo-Jun cut a piece for him, that’s for sure.
