Trapped In A Novel As The Breeding Mate For Four Powerful Alphas-Chapter 412: Our relationship didn’t seem like it was in danger...
"How am I a fraud?" Seo-Jun laughed. "I was clearly asleep when someone walked in."
"Then why didn’t you say something?" I asked cumming.
"Well," he raised his body and caught my arm. "I wanted to see what you would do, and as you got closer, I knew you were going to kiss me, so I was just waiting for that moment."
"What are you? Sleeping beauty?
He leaned his face on his palm, grinning at me mischievously.
"I could be." He said but that only irked me. He was being unserious again.
Why do I need to wake him with a kiss?
"Anyway," I said getting down from the bed. "I was going to ask you to come help me out in the gym. Now that you’re awake, could you get ready?"
"You want to go to the gym despite being hurt?" He asked and I glanced back at him.
"I’m quite alright," I said. "But if you’re that concerned, you can direct me on the ones that won’t put a strain on the places I’m hurt."
Seo-Jun stared at me, his expression asking if I was being serious and I smiled.
"I’m really fine. So just... Come out, okay?"
I stood up and was about to leave when I stopped and looked back at him still staring.
"What?" He asked. "Forgot something?"
Yeah, I did.
I crawled on the bed and gave him a light peck on his lips. As soon as I did that, I moved away, trying to avoid a situation where he would pull me in and demand more.
Seo-Jun was taken aback, though.
He watched me skipping away from his room and then laughed. How he missed his chance to grab me when he could.
"You’re something, Jo-Pil." He said and I smiled before walking out.
When will Min-Cheol be back? I wondered, worriedly.
My baby was hurt because of me and there’s nothing I can do.
I wanted to call and see how he was doing, since he did not come back home first thing in the morning but thought against it.
Maybe the Doctor barely convinced him to stay still because his condition might get worse.
Maybe he was currently asleep.
Whatever the case, I won’t disturb him, but I don’t want him to think I’m not thinking of him either, so I’ll call Cha Hyun-woo and pass on a message.
The cooperation was already so close, and if one of the main characters was badly hurt, then it would be bad.
Just as I was about to open my room door, I saw Jie-Yu approaching.
"Ah, good morning." She spoke before I could even open my mouth to greet her.
Seeing her acting a little bit frantic, like her usual self, a smile played on my lips, and I felt relieved.
Our relationship didn’t seem like it was in danger, thankfully.
"Good morning, Jie-Yu," I said. "Do you want something?"
"Not really. I just came to check up on you." She said, her hands pressed together. Then, her eyes rolled down to look at my knees. "How are your injuries?" She asked and I raised my hand, showcasing I strong I was despite having no muscle.
"As you can see, I’m already in tip-top shape. Nothing to worry about." I said, laughing and she laughed as well.
"That’s a relief. I’ll be having breakfast soon. Would you like to join me?"
"Ah, no, not right now," I answered. "I’ll be getting some work out exercise first and then eat afterward. You can eat without me."
"You exercise?" She asked, surprised.
And I wondered if she asked that question because she couldn’t see the results in my body. I mean, I only started a few days ago so let’s not be disheartened.
"Yes, I exercise," I said. "Would you like to join us?"
As soon as I asked that, she frantically shook her head while waving her hand in front of her, as if she had a religion that strictly forbade her exercising. But... I could tell she just didn’t fancy the idea.
"It... It’s fine. Go ahead without me." She said, smiling awkwardly. "Exercise is good for the body."
So why are you clearly running away from it?
I shrugged and then chuckled.
She was so adorable like this.
"Alright, alright. I won’t push it." I said. "I’ll go get changed now."
"Well, I’ll be in my room after I’m done eating so if you need me, you know where to find me." She said but I paused.
Her room... The place where that incident occurred.
I don’t think I can go there.
How can she even sleep peacefully knowing what might’ve happened in there if I hadn’t come back to my senses?
Well, maybe she was used to it.
I mean, with what she said about her mother, she must’ve endured far worse, but still couldn’t escape, so she didn’t think what happened last night was that big of a deal that it would hinder her sleep.
"Jie-Yu," I called, my expression falling softly and sadly. "You should always speak out."
"Pardon?"
"If you speak and no one listens, try screaming. And if you scream and they still don’t listen, break a few things." I said, smiling solemnly at her.
"I... I don’t quite understand it." She said that, and yet she gripped her hand so tight that it could bleed.
If she truly didn’t understand, why did she have that painful grit on her face?
For a girl like her, her voice must’ve never reached far. Each time she spoke, it felt like she was speaking underwater, and they sounded like nothing but the gurgles of a fish.
She might’ve tried to ask for help when all that happened but no one would listen. No one would hear her, and because of that, a part of her heart was torn and she forgot how to ask for or receive help.
Though, this is just my speculation.
I have no idea if all this was truly how she lived her life but I’m just speaking from clear experience and understanding.
I hope... She doesn’t stay silent any longer because no one listened to her in the past.
"I’ll get going now," I said, waving at her as I reached for my door handle but then she asked...
"If I do all that," I paused and turned to her. "...will someone finally hear my voice?"
She had a pleading expression on her face. One that asked for hope.
If it was just a sliver of hope that she could cling to, she would be happy with it.
She was tired of clinging so desperately to nothing and losing everything.
If there was a way to get her voice out to the audience she wished to speak, if even one person... She would truly appreciate it.
"What are you talking about?" I asked and grinned. "I’m right here. And my ears are far bigger than they seem. So, if you speak even in the smallest voice, I will hear you."
My words made her tremble.
The feeling of having won a battle she hadn’t begun yet enveloped her and she was nearly pushed to tears.
But before that could happen, she bowed her head, her body bent over fully, and said,
"I truly appreciate it. And I will make sure to heed your words." With that, she fled, not even letting me see her face because there was so much she wanted to hide.
I felt happy.
If I could relieve her burden for her... Not just the burden of her father’s broken company she wanted to inherit, but her emotional burden... Then I would be a shoulder I’d like her to lean on.
I finally got ready and stepped out of my room.
But as soon as I walked out, I saw Ki-hoon.
"Oh, you’re—"
"I’m here too."
I sharply turned my head to the other side and saw Seo-Jun.
"I’ve been waiting for you." He said and I turned to Ki-hoon again.
He was dressed in those sweatshirts he usually wore when he was getting ready to go on a run. I didn’t expect him to come out, either.
"You... Want to go to the gym with us?" I asked but it was pretty obvious even without asking.
"Yes." He said. "And don’t worry. I won’t interrupt. I’ll just run on the treadmill for a while and lift a few weights."
Though he said that, I didn’t know if this was okay.
There was nothing to worry about when I went with Seo-Jun and Min-Cheol, since I promised them a reward, but with Ki-hoon... Was it fine?
"If you promise to mind your own training regimen then I don’t mind," I said to him. "I’m really serious about my exercises so please don’t interrupt."
Ki-hoon went silent a bit, tilting his head and then I felt his lips twist a bit before he finally responded.
"Alright, Jo-Pil. I won’t do anything."
Ah, so he did plan to do something?
I’m glad I gave the warning beforehand.
And since Ki-hoon was quite mature, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
And there wasn’t.
