Transmigration To Magus World-Chapter 158 - 162: Energy and Spiritual Crystal
Like grabbing a fish out of water, Aizen dashed forward the moment the dwarf-like man was blasted out of the river. With a swift move, he knocked the short sword out of the man’s hand and clamped down on his throat.
"Who are you?"
The dwarf struggled, but Aizen’s hand trembled slightly, and a surge of Extreme Cold Energy from the Mystic Ice Palm coursed into his body.
The man instantly began to shiver uncontrollably, his internal energy disrupted and unable to flow properly.
This was a Sorcery artist at the Peak Innate Magus Stage, a Refining Organs Stage expert. Technically, he was on the same level as Aizen.
However, Aizen, with all his acupoints opened and internal energy flowing seamlessly throughout his body, could externalize his energy to injure others. This dwarf was no match for him.
"Bang!"
Aizen dragged the man to the riverbank and slammed him to the ground, leaving him dizzy and disoriented.
"Where is the Three-Life Stone?"
Aizen’s tone was icy.
"How... how did you learn about this...?" The dwarf panted heavily.
"Crack!"
Aizen stomped on the man’s arm, shattering it.
The dwarf screamed in agony, writhing on the ground.
"I ask, you answer. Speak nonsense again, and you die."
Aizen’s eyes were cold and devoid of mercy.
The dwarf’s last shred of hope was extinguished. Facing someone as ruthless as Aizen, he could only hope for a swift death.
With his remaining hand trembling, he pointed toward the riverbank. "After I noticed you, I hid the Three-Life Stone in the soil along the riverbank... right over there."
"Good."
Aizen smirked coldly. He hoisted the man up and struck his Heart Calming Point with a palm.
"Bang!"
The dwarf groaned in pain, his scarred face pale, eyes filled with despair and desolation.
Carrying the man, Aizen leaped into the water, stepping lightly across the waves until he reached the indicated spot.
"Dig it out yourself. I’ll give you a quick death."
Overpowered and crippled, the dwarf no longer had the will to resist. With a numb expression, he clawed at the soil, eventually revealing an ornate pouch.
There were no tricks.
Aizen was satisfied. "Now tell me—was there anything else in the underground river’s secret passage?"
"No... The passage was full of traps. We spent a lot of effort getting through, only to find a stone coffin. When we opened it, the remains inside disintegrated into bone dust, leaving only this pouch with the Three-Life Stone."
The dwarf answered truthfully. Aizen, monitoring his heart rate with spiritual energy, was convinced he was not lying.
"In light of your cooperation, I’ll make it quick for you."
Aizen sneered, then tightened his grip on the man’s throat.
With a sickening crack, the dwarf’s neck snapped. His head tilted lifelessly, his eyes wide open, pupils dilated, and devoid of light. A hint of relief flickered in his gaze.
In the Magus world, life was perilous; death was inevitable.
As an assassin for Blood Shadow Fortress, the dwarf had long known he might one day be killed.
Using his narrow blade, Aizen carefully pried open the brocade pouch. Tilting it gently, a small, irregularly shaped fragment of dark red stone tumbled into his palm.
The stone, about the size of a pinky finger, appeared unremarkable except for its peculiar coloration.
Aizen held the fragment, concentrating as he examined it. Immediately, he sensed something unique—a faint, indescribable energy emanating from it, like a magnetic field subtly influencing his body. It brought an inexplicable sense of comfort, as if soothing him from within.
When he focused his mental energy on it, he could vaguely perceive a mystical intent embedded within the stone, sparking strange and profound thoughts in his mind.
Frowning, Aizen stepped back onto the riverbank and observed the stone intently. Suddenly, a stream of information appeared in his mind:
Energy and Spiritual Crystal (Mystical Object) (Incomplete): A crystallization of the vital blood and spirit of an extraordinary individual at the Innate Magus Stage upon their death. Contains immense energy.
This was undoubtedly the Three-Life Stone, though Aizen noticed the system referred to it by a different name.
For now, Aizen decided against attempting to refine the stone. Not only did he lack the appropriate method to handle such a mystical object, but he also wasn’t prepared to risk using it recklessly.
He quickly tidied up the chaotic battlefield, gathering a few valuable and portable spoils before turning his gaze toward the underground river. With a flicker of determination, he leapt back into the water.
The Three-Life Stone had been hidden in a concealed passageway beneath the riverbed.
According to the story, the patriarch of Christa family had stumbled upon this information in a late elder’s final writings. Unfortunately, before the family could retrieve the stone, news of its location leaked to their enemies.
Those enemies, knowing they couldn’t destroy the member of Christa family outright, used the information as a bargaining chip with Blood Shadow Fortress, setting off the chain of events that followed.
Aizen was intrigued by the underwater passageway.
Who had built it? Why was the Three-Life Stone hidden there? And were there other secrets buried within? He intended to find out.
Blood Shadow Fortress agents had arrived over an hour earlier but emerged from the river only after Aizen’s arrival. This suggested the mechanisms within the passage were indeed troublesome.
However, Aizen found no significant items on the Blood Shadow Fortress members, supporting the dwarf’s claim that there was nothing else inside the passage.
The riverbed contained a large cavern opening, which had been entirely flooded when the passage was unlocked.
Like a fish, Aizen dove into the passage, feeling the intense pressure of the water around him.
With his energy coursing through his entire body, Aizen could sustain himself underwater for a long time. By opening his pores, he could absorb nutrients from the water, essentially breathing through his skin.
His body hair floated in the water, resembling fine, delicate tendrils.
Inside the passage, there was indeed a stone coffin, its lid lying on the ground.
Aizen swam closer to inspect it. In the water inside the coffin were a few fragments of decayed cloth, likely remnants of the corpse that had turned to ash.
Beyond this, the passage contained nothing else.
Who had placed this corpse in the stone coffin and hidden it in the underground passage, going so far as to construct intricate traps to ward off grave robbers?
And why was the only burial item a brocade pouch containing a fragment of the Three-Life Stone?
It was a puzzle that left more questions than answers.
This seemed to be nothing more than a burial chamber, with the sole funerary item being a fragment of the stone.
"Splash!"
Aizen emerged from the water and returned to the riverbank. His expression suddenly shifted as he detected faint noises coming from the mine tunnel ahead.
The sound carried a distinct aura of savagery and brutality, rapidly approaching.
"People from the Nine Great Strongholds?"
Aizen’s senses allowed him to pick up on the presence of individuals with a wild and fierce energy. There was no doubt—they were the bandits from the Nine Strongholds.
