Fu Mingze sat the children down at the dining table and said "I will call your mom only after you finish your meal."

Fu Liang looked at his little sister and said "Dad is a great cook, when I grow up I will also be a great cook like him and cook many delicious food for you."

Tao Mei eyes twinkled at the mention of delicious food, she looked at the dish before her and was about to take her spoon when Fu Mingze collected it and said "How about I feed my little princess today."

Tao Mei’s eyes brightened while Fu Liang frowned as he said "I also want you to feed me."

Fu Mingze laughed softly and said, "Ok, just for today, I will feed the both of you."

The children exclaimed in excitement and after eating, Fu Mingze allowed the children to watch TV for an hour before declaring it was bedtime.

"You don’t mind sharing your room with Tao Mei, right?" Fu Mingze asked his son as he prepared him for bed

Fu Liang shook his head and said "Having a little sister is fun and she also thinks I’m cool."

"That’s because you are cool." Fu Mingze replied with a smile.

"Tao Mei also thinks my eyes are beautiful and wishes she had them too." Fu Liang said with a proud smile.

"Really! But I love that she has her mom’s eyes, they are beautiful."

"That’s what I told her. Daddy, when are we going to become one family again." Fu Liang replied.

"Very soon Fu Liang, I promise. Now, let’s go back to your sister and call your mother."

Fu Liang and Tao Mei laid on the bed wearing matching nightwear.

Fu Mingze on the other hand was glad that he was able to get matching wear for his kids, he looked at them and asked "Are we ready to video call mummy?" The kids nodded their head excitedly.

Fu Mingze laughed and video called Tao Luqi with his tablet and within seconds the call was answered.

"Wow, are these my babies? Why do they look so cute?" Tao Luqi said with a smile. The doctor had finally discharged her in the evening and she had gone straight home, wanting to talk to her kids.

"Mum, Daddy said you weren’t feeling very well and that’s why you couldn’t join us." Fu Liang said with pouted lips.

"Your mother is feeling very well now so you don’t have to worry." Tao Luqi replied. At this point, she had already accepted the fact that she felt an immersed love for Fu Liang, one that even she could not explain.

"Mummy, daddy food is very delicious." Tao Mei said.

"Really? Even more delicious than mummy?"

"Yes." Tao Mei replied with a giggle as she covered her face with a blanket.

Tao Luqi looked at the two children in disbelief and chuckled.

"I can tell you the secret of being a great cook but there is a price to pay." Fu Mingze said as he amusedly watched every reaction from Tao Luqi. He noticed the way her cheek became red when she heard his voice and the urge to tease her became irresistible.

"I don’t need your help and you will see, in a week, both Tao Mei and Fu Liang will claim me as the better cook."

Fu Mingze laughed softly and said to the children "Tell your mother goodnight."

"Goodnight mummy."

Tao Luqi’s heart melted when she heard the two children telling her goodnight, she smiled and said "Goodnight my babies, mummy loves you both very much."

Fu Liang’s eyes brightened when he heard that and he said "I love you too very much."

"OK, time to go to sleep." Fu Mingze said, he tucked both children in without ending the video call and gave them each a kiss on their forehead.

Tao Luqi found herself smiling as she watched his actions, who would have thought that a man like Fu Mingze would know how to be affectionate?

"Goodnight Daddy." Fu Liang first said, then Tao Mei followed after.

Fu Mingze smiled and replied "Goodnight." He looked at his children one more time and switched off the light.

As soon as he left their room, he focused his full attention on Tao Luqi and asked "Did you mean it when you said you love them both?"

Tao Luqi was surprised by his question, she remained silent for a moment before she finally nodded and said "Yes, I meant every word of it. Though I didn’t give birth to Fu Liang, I still feel a connection to him plus he is so cute."

"So you love him?"

"Yes, my heart melts whenever he looks at me with his beautiful blue eyes and calls me mummy." Tao Luqi said with a smile. She suddenly cleared her throat and asked "If you don’t mind me asking then i will like to know how your wife was, she must have been tough to be able to handle you."

Fu Mingze chuckles as he went to the kitchen cabinet to collect a bottle of wine and glass, he poured himself a drink before finally answering "I am...I mean, I was eight years older than Yang Meiyi. When she was ten, she stood in front of everyone on my grandfather’s birthday and declared that she was going to marry me."

Tao Luqi widened her eyes in surprise as she said "Really? She proposed to you at ten. Wow, were you that handsome at eighteen?"

Fu Mingze laughed softly and said, "I would like to believe that I’m still handsome."

"Of course you are." Tao Luqi blurted out and immediately covered her mouth with a gasp.

Fu Mingze laughed loudly and said, "Well thank you."

Tao Luqi smiled and asked, "So what happened next with Yang Meiyi?"

Fu Mingze’s smile slowly disappeared as he said "We started dating when she turned eighteen. Yang Meiyi was like a light that shined so brightly in my life that I felt I could never leave without her. Our relationship hasn’t always been sweet, we have had our fight."

"But you’ve always gotten back together." Tao Luqi stated.

"Yes, we always come back together and this time I thought we would never again be separated, but I let my guard down and she was kidnapped."

"My father told me she died in a fire." Tao Luqi said sadly.

Tao Luqi saw anger in Fu Mingze’s eyes and she couldn’t help but ask "Did you ever find out who did it?"

"I caught one of the men who was responsible for her kidnapping and before the police could interrogate him, he killed himself. I investigated his family and....."

"And?"

"His family house was burned down at night while they were sleeping. The police investigated and said the cause of the fire was their gas and since then I have met with a dead end regarding Yang Meiyi’s kidnapping. It’s been four years and she has refused to make any mistake and has left no loose end."

"She? Who are you referring to?" Tao Luqi curiously asked.

Fu Mingze looked at her quietly and said "Nie Yujie, the wife of Gu Zhen. She was also the last person to see Meiyi alive, I don’t believe her story about the kidnapping but I don’t have any proof to prove that she had something to do with the kidnapping. I have been watching her for four years but I still got nothing."

"What if she is just a victim and had nothing to do with Yang Meiyi’s kidnapping?"

"My gut feeling says she does and I have monitored Nie Yujie enough to know she is far from a victim, she just acts like one."
