Transmigrated with my corruption system-Chapter 61: Evolution [II]
[Asuraโs Wrath]
(Sink into the darkness and borrow the power of the fallen temporarily by lacing it with your rage. Blood shall fuel power, if youโre ready to withstand the cost.) ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ซ๐ฃ๐ธ๐ซ๐ฎ๐.๐๐๐ถ
Rereading the description multiple times, a wry smile spread across his face.
"Not creepy. Not creepy at all." It seemed a hell of a lot similar to the state he entered when he first activated his physique, before he had learnt how to control it with his mental attributes. Just now an upgraded version.
Which couldnโt help but pique his interest... what was the cost? Losing his mind? Going crazy?
He mused before his lips rapidly twitched. If he didnโt know any better, he would have thought the system was pushing him to lose his shit.
Before he understood the full scope of it, it would be best to steer clear of it. Or, if necessary, probably use it as a last resort.
But apart from that, it did seem a little interesting. What was the worst that could happen? he mused, hurriedly averting his thoughts before curiosity got the better of him as a grin stretched across his face.
His S-rank talent was already powerful as it was. What about an SS-rank talent? The sheer thought alone pumped his blood with excitement. And before it could fully form, he allocated another ten thousand corruption points to his Monarch of Darkness.
Time to find out!
At the side, Graegor was barely regaining his composure when suddenly another wave of darkness erupted, enveloping the young lord whole.
His eyes narrowed into slits, watching the whole phenomenon unfold again. His eyes blinking rapidly, almost willing this to be an illusion, before he couldnโt take it anymore.
"A-again... this... I donโt understand. Didnโt he already break through to E rank?" What was happening?
His whole perspective of power was being challenged. If he hadnโt evolved the first time... then why the hell did his strength grow explosively? What was he missing?
So many unanswered questions circled at the back of his mind, eating at him. Almost giving him the urge to just step out and pry the youthโs mind open to uncover all his secrets.
Unlike his body, the evolution of his talent was far different and beyond his physical being.
He felt no pain, only a soothing energy. The metaphysical core burning within his chest, allowing him to channel dark energy, was currently being redefined as untold energy was pumped into it.
He could feel it slowly expand, the power and energy growing into enormous reserves. It almost made him space out as he tried to wrap his mind around it all.
Even better, he didnโt have to resist to keep himself sane, as his eyes snapped shut. He sank into the darkness, letting it shift him as he was locked in a state of unending pleasure as time slowly slipped by.
The sensation was just exhilarating. Limits he couldnโt define being expanded. When the core reached a certain level, it suddenly exploded into bits of energy.
His connection with the darkness momentarily disappearing, but he didnโt enter a state of panic. He could feel it, from the particles a new one was forming. A better one.
Conforming with a principle he was slowly starting to understand. For true creation and perfection to be formed, destruction was inevitable.
Proved time and time again, when his body was being reforged and when his physique evolved.
This time was no different. When the core was fully formed, he could feel an almost endless reserve of energy bubbling within, which was just mind-blowing.
An enormous pillar of darkness, far thicker than when he awakened his S-rank talent, attempted to shoot into the sky to announce the birth of an SS-rank talent.
But it was all blocked by the dome that enveloped his being as the change took place.
When the last streams of energy seeped into the newly redefined core, Ulricโs eyes snapped open to stare at the notification that blinked before him to mark the evolution.
[Congratulations! Your S-rank talent, Monarch of Darkness, has evolved into SS-rank talent, Wielder of Darkness]
[0 / 100,000 corruption points]
The joy on his face grew, before slowly fading as he watched the number of corruption points required for the next evolution.
This was just insane. Similar to what he needed to awaken his system shop. But that was a problem for his future self.
Now it was time to go crazy and test out the full extent of his new talent. He didnโt feel different per se, and just as the new name suggested, he could feel his affinity with darkness had grown explosively.
Watching the young lord step out of the cocoon of darkness once more, relatively similar to when he entered, Graegor let out a sigh of relief as he comforted himself. It seemed to have been a glitch. Yes. It was the only reasonable explanation.
Anything different and it would now shatter his frail heart.
For a moment he had thought the young lord was a monstrous prodigious anomaly, good thing he was still human...
The thought barely formed when he watched the black-robed figure flick his wrist playfully.
In the next instant, the air behind him shimmered violently, before trails of darkness emerged to coalesce tens of dark spectral blades, hovering behind him.
Each towering over three meters, serrated blades and faint dark sigils racing across them in a menacing display.
Causing him to swallow audibly as his next words caught in his throat.
He had always been by Lord Greysonโs side. He had watched the young lordโs ventures inside the Wolf Den dungeon and understood fully well he wielded the ability to form blades of darkness.
All he didnโt understand was why the hell he felt any one of the hovering blades could easily tear him into shreds. He was a peak E-rank being, for crying out loud, and the longer he watched the young lord, the more he got depressed.
He understood talent was a huge factor in oneโs growth. But watching the youth surpass years of his hard work in a few hours couldnโt help but shatter something deep inside him.
Just as he thought he had seen everything, Ulric performed a series of actions that almost made him doubt reality.
As his voice echoed into his ears,
"Converge!"
In the next moment, the blades suddenly clashed with each other in a merging manner.
Twenty became ten, ten became five, until with a final clash they all melded together to form a single abominable blade, stretching over ten meters.
Its sheer presence corroding everything within a hundred-meter range.
The blades before were already horrifying, but this... this was different. He felt this threat level when facing clan leaders. A weapon conjured by an E-rank being with the deathly energy of D-rank power? His brain almost short-circuited as he processed the thought.
If he knew that Ulric had yet to take the leap and was still an F-rank being, his reaction would have been unimaginable.
"An abomination," Ulric muttered, tracing his fingers across its frame, but the sheer sharpness it emitted grazed his skin, drawing blood from him.
His physique and resilience made his body practically invulnerable to E-rank beings. Yet the blade was able to slice through as if cutting through paper.
If it was anyone else, they would have long been terrified, but only a shit-eating grin was plastered across his face.
A blade that doesnโt discriminate between master and foe. Its name was rightfully earned. And he liked it.
What was even crazier was this was just the tip of what his upgraded talent could do. He could manipulate the darkness in ways he couldnโt before.
Flicking his hand, the blade dissipated. Yet the darkness remained, forming a towering wall before him.
Unlike before, when he struck it with all his might, it remained standing. Whatever cracks that formed were reformed.
The craziest part was the entirely new different ability that had awakened.
Training his gaze to a huge rock ten meters away, he focused on the shadow it cast.
Staring intently, his figure suddenly disappeared. In the next moment, his figure appeared in the shadow.
As he muttered under his breath.
"Shadow teleportation."
This was just wondrous. Truly wondrous. At the moment it was just limited to a ten-meter range, but it was definitely bound to grow in the future.
With all these enhanced abilities in his grasp, his excitement shot up a notch as his head jerked to the sky, a yell tearing from his lips.
"Hahaha! Whoโs the true wielder of Darkness?"
The chuckle morphed into full-blown maniacal laughter. The truth was imprinted into his being.
He was!
