Transmigrated to Game World with SSS Wife-Chapter 79: Path of Annihlation—Trial by Blood
’Add me to your collection? Like hell, fanboy.’
Even though his stamina was falling at a rapid pace, Nick could feel his mana regenerate at the same time. The only problem was, he didn’t have any time to activate [Shadow Step]. More than that, he didn’t know the depths of Dyr’s blood spikes power.
Maybe it was limited to spikes; maybe the second he used [Shadow Step], Dyr would create some kind of AoE weapon. Then Nick would be down mana and injured.
It was best to allow Dyr to toy with him for now. The spikes weren’t too hard to deflect, only made difficult because of his waning stamina.
But that was quite the hill to climb. With every spike he deflected, Nick could feel his movement slow.
His arm became heavier and heavier every time he raised his Fang as if it was raising the ocean instead. Spikes clanged against his Fang like an avalanche, each one threatening to disarm him completely.
Sweat trickled down Nick’s face as he took on this next wave of spikes–8 perfectly sharpened projectiles moving at an absurd speed that seemingly defied even light. Their approach was shrouded in darkness, and infinitely horrible energy that drained the life of everything it passed over.
Grass wilted as air cried. Even birds flying 1,000 feet overhead weren’t safe as their blood was instantly siphoned by these spikes.
It was a terrifying enemy: one that could manipulate another’s blood into weapons. Truly, such a power could only be wielded by a species as vile and dark as a demon.
If Dyr had faced any other member of the party, they would’ve died instantly. Even a veteran who’s fought wars for 30 years and counting would be unable to stand against the transcendent power of a maimed demon.
A maimed demon who’s fought for 30 millennia and counting was nothing compared to any Progenitor, let alone one with Walker blood in his veins. His only hope was to strike hard and fast in this moment, to turn the blood of this world against its master.
Though it felt like moving through quicksand for Nick, all Dyr could see was a monster, someone whose speed defied description. Nick was growing more tired by the second, an advantage completely lost to Dyr.
All he could see was a transcendent enemy, one every race feared for all eternities, blocking his best strikes with ease.
"You- you are nothing yet!!!" Dyr screamed as he tried to extend his area skill–accidentally allowing Nick to see it for the first time.
[A-Rank Area Skill: Blood Maelstrom – By drawing in the blood of a surrounding area, the user can manipulate blood collected into weapons or armor that the user has unlocked. By expanding the area selected, the user can draw in blood from more targets, but they are more likely to resist the skill.]

’Draw in blood from more targets?’ Nick thought as he noticed Dyr’s aura for the first time.

During the entire battle, the demon had deliberately lowered his aura so that he could focus his energy completely on the spikes. Even then, he was unable to do anything to Nick.
Now, his only hope was to expand his aura and suck in as much blood as he could as quickly as possible.
The demon’s aura extended right into Nick’s. Although an area skill, like any skill, is far more refined than a simple extension of an aura or power, this only matters when 2 opponents are relatively equal.
When one was simply transcendent to another, only feeling difficulty due to his preexisting lack of stamina, it stood to reason that common rules of combat no longer applied.
Dyr’s area skill clashed with Nick’s Aura of Destruction and was subsequently deleted. His last hope, the last hope of a demon who’s won wars for millennia, was defeated simply by his opponent standing there.
’No... no!!!’
There was still blood left to consume!
All Dyr had to do was kill the stupid elf who had erected some kind of barrier between him and the humans. Once he consumed the vermin, he could make 100, no, 1000s of weapons at once!
Human blood was delicious and nutrient, the best boost of power any demon could ask for! In the ever-burning wheel of the cosmos, humans were their true ticket to Divinity!
Knowing his current stash of blood only had enough for 5 spikes, Dyr conditioned himself for his upcoming decision. For just a second, he would lower his guard against the Progenitor...
It should be fine! He’s still only a human!
"Almost out of demon blood, huh? Good thing too. I was running low on energy myself."
The King’s voice shook Dyr to his core as he waited for the inevitable slash of Finality.
’Not even a second could be wasted...’ Dyr thought, wondering what he could’ve done differently. The only answer that came to mind was not attacking such a being in the first place.
However... Khaic had ordered it.
Khaic, who he knew even now as he faced certain destruction would be far too strong for the Progenitor. Maybe if he had unlocked the first seal it would be different...
’Yes. You’ve come far, human. I’ll grant you that insignificant achievement. I wish I could see your face when you fall when everything you’re fighting for dies by your hands.’
Crack!
Dyr’s eyes widened as he realized his spikes had protected him. Although he had willed himself to focus solely on killing the elf and then absorbing the blood of the humans, his subconscious had already created a defense.
An utterly insignificant achievement.
Nick’s Fang destroyed them like it would anything else before connecting with the underside of the demon’s neck. In the next instant, blood squirted like a fountain as his head flew into the air.
His body plopped to the ground, now a lifeless husk. A soft light glowed from Nick’s hand: the [Circlet of the Remembered].
The light traveled to the demon’s body and then enveloped it.
[Maimed Demon: Dyr killed; +500 XP]
[Level 10; 16,500/18,000]
[Dyr’s memory is now contained within the Circlet of the Remembered. Once it dies, the memory is gone forever.]
’Huh, I almost forgot about the ring too.’ Nick let loose a small smile despite the harsh situation.
Demons continued raining from the sky and killing indifferently, but this was a big win.
Another big win was the addition of a new ally, one these civilians didn’t have before.
Turning to Elise, he knew she had broken a cycle that had been maintained for 532 years.
This was because she trusted his capabilities of saving her sister more than she trusted the words of demons. For the first time, a small bit of hope gleamed in her eyes, even if the gem in her chest remained completely darkened.
