Chapter 241: Extra: Little Mermaid (Part 19)

Grandpa Sea Turtle stopped steadily in front of them.

It studied Ding Yixin for a moment, then let out a heavy snort through its nostrils.

Like it was scoffing at him.

Ding Yixin who is scoffed at upon first meeting: "..."

Only then did Grandpa Sea Turtle turn to Rong Xingyu and slowly speak. "Finally decided to get in touch?"

If he hadn’t already known his beloved was a mermaid, Ding Yixin might’ve been shocked when the sea turtle opened its mouth and spoke human language.

But now, watching the boy in his arms chat away with the turtle like this, Ding Yixin didn’t find it strange at all.

Rong Xingyu stuck out his tongue at Grandpa Sea Turtle sheepishly.

He’d meant to tell Grandpa Sea Turtle before. But once he came ashore, life had been so good that he’d completely forgotten.

Grandpa Sea Turtle couldn’t believe it, his worst fears had actually come true.

He’d told the little mermaid the story of "The Little Mermaid" over and over again, from beginning to end!

And he’d only used it as a cautionary tale, to teach Rong Xingyu to stay away from humans.

But who would’ve thought the little mermaid would treat it as instructional material instead???

Not only had he secretly come ashore, he’d gotten himself tangled up with this human too...

Grandpa Sea Turtle took in the way Rong Xingyu and the man beside him held each other, how perfectly they seemed to fit together.

"Ahh..." Grandpa Sea Turtle let out a helpless sigh.

It’s too late.

Clearly those two had already gotten tangled up with each other ages ago.

At least the little mermaid had decent taste, he supposed, the man had been holding Rong Xingyu protectively in his arms this whole time.

And with Grandpa Sea Turtle’s years of experience, after sizing up Ding Yixin, he had to admit the guy seemed pretty solid.

At the very least, his feelings for Rong Xingyu were genuine.

But when he heard why Rong Xingyu had suddenly come to the shore, Grandpa Sea Turtle’s voice shot up "What???"

Did he just hear that right?

Grandpa Sea Turtle smacked the water furiously, sending up quite a splash.

"You only just came of age and he already did this to you?"

Rong Xingyu had been wearing a loose hoodie earlier and with Ding Yixin carrying him princess-style, you couldn’t really tell his belly was already rounded.

And Grandpa Sea Turtle couldn’t believe he’d actually been feeling somewhat satisfied with Ding Yixin just moments ago?

Looking at it now, he want to take back all the good things he said about him before.

Though, to be fair, mermaids were especially prone to pregnancy, particularly during heat season.

Which was why Grandpa Sea Turtle had been frantic before, searching every corner of the seabed when he couldn’t find Rong Xingyu anywhere.

"I’m sorry, Grandpa Sea Turtle. It won’t happen again."

Rong Xingyu’s cheeks flushed pink, but if he was being completely honest about the whole "intimate" situation, he’d been enjoying himself by the end too.

More often than not, he’d end up clinging to Ding Yixin and asking for another round.

Grandpa Sea Turtle’s gaze toward Ding Yixin turned distinctly hostile.

Ding Yixin: "..."

He’d been careful about protection every single time. Never expected they’d still end up with an "accidental pregnancy."

Maybe some things were just meant to be.

Grandpa Sea Turtle didn’t bother wasting more words on Ding Yixin.

A massive shell slowly rose from the depths of the sea.

The little mermaid’s eyes immediately lit up.

Back when he was still living under the ocean, this shell had been his favorit, —he used to lie right on it and sleep.

Rong Xingyu motioned for Ding Yixin to lower him into the water.

The moment he slipped beneath the surface, that familiar sensation he’d been missing washed over him completely.

He couldn’t help himself, Rong Xingyu swam a few excited laps in the seawater, though he had to paddle carefully around his now rather swollen belly.

Ding Yixin’s gaze did not leave Rong Xingyu for even a moment and he secretly held his breath, worrying for the little mermaid.

Then Rong Xingyu lay on his side atop the shell.

Granpa Sea Turtle carried Rong Xingyu slowly down into the depths of the sea, leaving Ding Yixin standing on the shore: "..."

He could only wait here.

No one knew how long had passed.

By the time evening arrived, the sky was already growing dim and the setting sun cast a beautiful glow across the surface of the ocean.

The sea, which had been calm, finally stirred again.

The water parted to both sides once more and an enormous shell rose up.

As the shell slowly opened, Rong Xingyu could be seen sleeping soundly inside.

In his arms, he was holding a snow white egg.

Ding Yixin looked at Rong Xingyu first, not giving any attention to the egg at all.

Only after confirming that Rong Xingyu was unharmed and merely asleep did Ding Yixin finally let out a breath of relief.

He gently tidied Rong Xingyu’s slightly messy hair that was still damp and a bit disheveled.

"Baby, you’ve worked hard," Ding Yixin said.

Even though he knew Rong Xingyu could not hear him right now, and even though Rong Xingyu’s complexion was still rosy, Ding Yixin nevertheless placed a tender, heart aching kiss on Rong Xingyu’s forehead.

Only then did Ding Yixin turn his attention to the big white egg that was cradled in Rong Xingyu’s arms.

The egg was perfectly round.

Even though it was just an egg, one could still sense that it had inherited the strengths of both parents who are exceptionally good looks and adorably cute.

On the way home, Rong Xingyu finally woke up groggily.

The little egg nestled affectionately in Rong Xingyu’s arms.

Rong Xingyu at last had the chance to examine the egg carefully.

Unexpectedly, as if it could see, or perhaps because it sensed Rong Xingyu’s gaze, the egg suddenly rubbed gently against Rong Xingyu’s fingers.
