Chapter 196: Separation

"Is anyone there?"

"Excuse me, is anyone there?"

Rong Xingyu cupped his hands in front of his mouth, forming a horn, and shouted even louder.

The surroundings remained utterly silent.

Where exactly was this place?

And why was he here?

A multitude of questions surged into Rong Xingyu’s mind.

Realizing that he was trapped alone in this unfamiliar and eerie space, Rong Xingyu’s heartbeat immediately sped up.

He wandered around like a headless fly for a while, yet still failed to find any way out.

Rong Xingyu had no choice but to force himself to calm down first.

In order to conserve his strength, Rong Xingyu simply sat down cross legged.

In this space, there was no sense of the passage of time at all and Rong Xingyu had no idea how long he had been sitting there.

Until a familiar scene appeared before his eyes.

Rong Xingyu widened his eyes, wasn’t this Dr. Ding’s master bedroom?

He actually saw himself lying on the bed in that room.

No, that’s not right!

A thunderous crash sounded in Rong Xingyu’s mind and he abruptly stood up.

Wait, the one lying there was only his body!

The young man lay with his eyes closed and his thick curled eyelashes obediently resting downward.

His complexion was rosy, his lips slightly pouted. Rather than looking unconscious, he looked more like he had fallen into a sweet dream, lying peacefully like a Sleeping Beauty from a fairy tale.

Yet Rong Xingyu’s heart was anxious beyond measure.

What was he now, just a soul?

How was he supposed to return to his own body?

Rong Xingyu had no clue at all.

He subconsciously gnawed on his fingernails and he could only stare unblinkingly at the scene before him.

At that moment, someone pushed the door open. When Rong Xingyu saw the man’s face clearly, his eyes suddenly burned and tears nearly fell.

Perhaps time flowed differently here than in the outside world, because Rong Xingyu’s memories were still stuck at the moment of the proposal in the garage.

They had clearly only been separated for a short while, how had Ding Yixin become as if he were a different person?

The man’s eyes were bloodshot and beneath them lay heavy dark circles.

Although his clothes were still clean, they were no longer as neat as usual, it’s clearly showing that he had no mind to take care of himself.

Ding Yixin walked step by step to the bedside.

He bent down and gazed deeply at the sleeping young man on the bed.

After a long while, Ding Yixin reached out and stroked the young man’s cheek.

His gaze was gentle, his movements slow and careful, as if the youth before him were the most cherished treasure of his entire life.

Watching Ding Yixin’s actions, Rong Xingyu felt as though he truly sensed the hand that fell upon his cheek and caressed him.

He subconsciously leaned into it slightly.

But surrounding Rong Xingyu was nothing but empty air; he could not feel Ding Yixin’s warmth at all.

Ding Yixin sat down by the bed, holding Rong Xingyu’s hand and gently rubbing the one that hung at his side.

Only then did Rong Xingyu notice that on the slender middle finger of the body lying on the bed, there was clearly a silver white ring.

It was precisely the ring with which Ding Yixin had proposed to him in the garage!

Rong Xingyu’s throat suddenly tightened.

He could not help stumbling back half a step, raising a hand to cover his mouth.

His eyelashes trembled violently and the tears that had lingered in his eyes for so long finally could not be held back.

Rong Xingyu squatted down unsteadily and large tears rolling out and falling onto the floor.

Dr. Ding still hadn’t heard his "I’m willing" yet!

He clearly, he clearly hadn’t had the chance to tell Dr. Ding that he really wanted to marry him.

Ding Yixin gathered his hand and enclosing the young man’s tender pale hand within his own.

There was a ring on his own middle finger as well; the two matching rings pressed against each other.

Ding Yixin lowered his head and planting dense kisses on Rong Xingyu’s hand.

He kissed his fingertips, kissed his knuckles, kissed his ring.

Even though Rong Xingyu was now only a soul, he still felt his hand gradually grow warm, so warm that tears streamed endlessly down his cheeks.

"Yuyu, the sun is already shining on your bottom. It’s time to wake up."

Ding Yixin’s voice was already hoarse with pain hidden deep within his eyes.

He looked at the sleeping young man, his tone carrying indulgent helplessness as if gently coaxing a child who was deliberately refusing to get out of bed.

"Yuyu is really a little lazy bug. You’ve slept for so many days, shouldn’t it be time to wake up already?"

"Aren’t you still going to marry me?"

"It’s not possible that my proposal was too simple and you got angry, right?"

Rong Xingyu shook his head vigorously and he already crying so hard that no sound would come out.

But Ding Yixin could not see any of it.

Ding Yixin sighed and with extremely gentle movements, tidied Rong Xingyu’s bangs.

He sat by the bed for a very long time, so long that Rong Xingyu almost thought Ding Yixin would just wait like this forever.

Then he saw Ding Yixin stand up. He straightened his clothes and walked outside.

Rong Xingyu’s perspective shifted along with Ding Yixin’s.

It turned out that several of the Rong family’s older brothers had sensed something amiss and come directly to investigate.

What greeted them, however, was the devastating news that their younger brother was lying unconscious on the bed.

"Didn’t you say you would take good care of Xiaoyu?" Rong Zhenqiao’s face was ugly to the extreme, his voice heavy with pain. "And this is the result of your care?"

Rong Xingyu saw Ding Yixin turn his face aside, his eyes filled with self blame.
