Chapter 42: The need for scenting.

Mrs. Miller, shook her head, laughing softly. "Child, I am way too old to be having romantic dreams. And is it just me or are you blaming me for keeping a torch burning for your father?"

Sienna shrugged. "No offense mom, but I think you were a fool. Holding on to love for an irresponsible man is a ticket to a lifetime of loneliness and self hatred." She leaned towards her, smiling coquettishly, "But not every decision you made was bad, I am glad you chose to give birth to me and my brother." If this body did not exist, maybe she would be somewhere in the line to heaven or reincarnation.

Instead, here she was, getting a new start in a new world. How much luckier could she get?

Mrs. Miller laughed.

"You are the best mom in this world." Sienna whispered.

Mrs. Miller patted Sienna’s head and crinkled her nose at the not so pleasant smell of sweat reeking off her daughter’s body. "You need a bath."

Sienna righted herself. "And that is my cue to stop embarrassing myself in public."

Slowly, Sienna rose and walked herself back to her cottage. The aches in her body were surprisingly gone, which made her consider taking up aerobics in the evening. "System, is this a side effect of the food you gave me, mental strength or the body itself?"

"It is a combination of all three things host. You have already lost 2kg of fat from two days of work outs."

Sienna did a little jump. She climbed the steps to the cottage with vigor. She was humming a song as she made her way to the bathroom. And she didn’t grimace when the hair dresser and stylists went to work on her.

By 9:45, she was all set to go, and Elias was the perfect face of approval since she didn’t delay like the last time. He did not the lack of fox like ears design with her hair that she had the previous time. She had opted to curl her hair and let it flow freely.

"Let’s go," she lifted her dress and tipped her chin.

But Elias stopped her bu grabbing her arm. The last time they had visited the beast palace, one of the queen’s guards had made a comment about his wife not carrying his scent. Around home, it was okay. But outside, it wasn’t and this was one of the causes of the disrespect Sienna encountered regularly.

Beast men had sharp noses, sharper tongues, and sharper suspicions. The wolf beast man had probably noticed Sienna’s lack of a scent already since she was moving around a lot lately.

He pulled her into the bedroom that Soren had said was his. The curtains were drawn, some light was peeking through a partially open side. His six tails unfurled behind him, large, white, fluffy and restless, brushing against the walls like living banners.

Sienna’s eyes widened. "What are you doing?" Soft laughter fell from her lips. Elias had some cute tails and she really wanted to get a feel.

Just like that, she was pulled into his embrace. And once again, she was startled. What had caused the sudden hugging?

Rather than dwell on it, her furry desires won, and her fingers curled into the silken fur of his tails, The soft sensation made her giggle, but it also drew her closer, pressing her cheek against his chest. "Your tails are so pretty and soft. I have heard of nine tailed foxes, not six."

Elias’s arms tightened around her. He lowered his head, brushing his jaw against her hair, letting his scent seep into her skin. His tails wrapped around her shoulders, her waist, her arms--an enveloping cocoon of warmth and fur.

Sienna’s laughter softened into a sigh. "You smell so good," she murmured, her voice dreamy. Whatever cologne he was using, it had to be very expensive and very new to her nose because she had never smelled something like that. She brushed her nose over his neck, inhaling it deeper, unaware of the storm brewing beneath his calm exterior.

A moan fell from her lips. "It’s like the sun and a forest and moonlight and.....something addictive. Something that she couldn’t name.

Elias’s heart thudded. Timothy had reminded him yesterday that his heat was approaching. Sienna didn’t seem to have a clue, or else, she would not be rubbing all over him like that. He wanted to push her away, for both their sanity, but duty came first. If his scent was not on her, then her place at his side would be questioned.

His tails moved with deliberate care, stroking her arms, her back, her hair, weaving his essence into her.

Sienna grabbed one tail and chuckled while holding it close to her skin, around her neck. The feeling made her shudder. It was like having a feather rubbed on her body, back and forth. "So soft so nice." she said, eyes sparkling. "I could stay like this forever. Just me and these tails."

Her words pierced him. Forever. He let go of her, and withdrew his tails. While drawing in deep breaths, he took two steps back.

Sienna cleared her throat, fanning herself with her hand. "That was....weird." she laughed. "Why did we do it? I mean it was more of you did it not me because you pulled me in here...."

Elias cleared his throat too. "Now you smell like me." he said in a rough voice. "Any beast man that comes near you will know automatically who you belong to. By carrying my scent, we avoid suspicion and answering questions that we both find uncomfortable."

Sienna nodded. It reminded her that she had seen beast men sniff each other often. The scenting thing has to be important, she told herself.

"We will have to do it whenever I come here." Elias declared. "Every three days, at least."

Sienna’s cheeks flushed and her heart skipped a beat. Wasn’t it a little too intimate? What if she couldn’t help herself and she kissed him or touched him in the wrong place? This was playing with fire and one or both of them would be burned. "Isn’t that too often?" She asked softly. "It’s not like I am meeting outside beast men often."

Elias’s mind flashed to Geo, the outside beast man. Who knew if the wolf beast man would be receiving more guests from his tribe? Sooner or later, one of them would develop other intentions towards Sienna. Knowing the cunning ways of wolves, they would use her against him.

That could not be allowed. Three days was not enough.

He replied suddenly, "No. It is barely enough. I think it would be better if we do it everyday, without clothes on. The scent will burrow deeper in your body that way. Maybe, I should also bite you."
