Chapter 31: Immediately moving.

The doctor made a timely appearance, saving Sienna from explaining what she meant by calling her husband a popsicle. Sienna and Soren rose so suddenly, that she almost dropped Ali.

The little one clung to her stubbornly, holding on to her neck like a sloth wrapped around the branch of a tree. Her small but long legs dug into the sides of Sienna’s jiggly stomach.

"How is my mother?" Sienna asked nervously.

"Shocked, physically weak and she is fighting a cold but she says that a doctor has already see her." The doctor replied.

Sienna nodded.

"I will recommend the same thing he recommended." The doctor looked between Sienna and Elias. "But, there is one more thing I will add to that list. For the sake of the patient’s recovery, try not to share anymore shocking news with her. She is very fragile. I have seen non beast men..."

"Humans." Cyra cut in.

The doctor needed, "I have seen humans die from simple things like strained hearts from bad news."

"A heart attack." Sienna said flatly.

The doctor’s thin brows shot up. "That actually describes it perfectly. Your mother’s heart is showing signs of an attack on her heart. So, try not to scare her if you can help it."

Sienna nodded. "Thank you. We will follow your instructions."

"I gave her a sleeping aid, she will wake up after twelve hours. I have left a nurse and a servant to watch over her. If there is anything else you need from me, I will be in the hospital on the estate." He bowed politely, acknowledging all the people in the room above his stature and he left.

Sienna walked to the room, and Soren followed her. After making sure that their mother was simply sleeping, she returned to the living room. Her husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law were still there.

If she had to guess, it was to continue that lecture on her inappropriate language. The matter would not go away unless she made some kind of compromise. "I am not giving a public apology but I can make a clarification that my words were not aimed at mouse beast men, just one human woman."

Lady Cadelaria finally breathed out. Loudly. "I suppose that is better than nothing."

Elias closed his eye briefly, as though praying for patience. "Sienna."

"Elias."

"Do not do it again."

Sienna grinned. "Of course not. Next time, I will let the pan work more than my mouth."

Ali squealed with laughter. Eli buried his face in his hands. Lady Cadelaria nearly fainted in the chair.

"I am moving out right now." Sienna suddenly blurted out. "It will be better to move when my mother is still asleep. I think it will be easier for her to accept our separation if she gets used to it slowly. If I live here, her hopes of seeing us as a happy couple will increase rapidly. This will put her health at risk. Also, I want to take Ali, Shalin and Kroton with me."

Lady Cadelaria gasped.

The house erupted in chaos.

"You are not taking my grand daughter anywhere." Lady Cadelaria growled. Gone was her dignity. In were her claws and teeth, ready to attack.

"Bad woman, let go of my sister." Eli shouted.

Sienna faced them boldly. "Lady Cadelaria, with all due respect, Ali is my child, not yours. I am not taking Cyra or any of your sons. I am taking my daughter. Besides, I am leaving Eli here with you because I know he does not want to live with me." She looked at the young male cub. "Of course, my doors will always be open to him. When he wants to visit me, he can come over."

"I said..." Lady Cadelaria growled.

"You don’t have a say." Sienna raised her voice. "Only Ali gets a say. I grew up with one absentee parent. Our whole lives, my brother and I have lived wondering why our father abandoned us. I will not have my children growing up with the shadow of abandonment. I am not planning to keep Ali away from her father. She can go back and forth between our homes. I can have her in holidays while you get her during the school term." She had done research on this already.

If Ali was not clingy to her, she would not have considered taking the little one. Sienna lowered her eyes, wondering if she was being too sentimental. This was the child of the original Sienna, not hers. Was stepping into the role of her mother a wise choice?

Ali clapped her hands, squealing in delight. "I go with mama." She kissed Sienna on the cheek, leaving a wet lip shaped mark.

The childish words of a little one that barely understand what was going on stamped the decision. Sienna looked up to Elias. "We can do it on a trial basis. I take her for a week and see how things go. If she wants to return, I will not stop her."

"You do realize that until we actually divorce you are still my legal wife and we will have to keep up appearances." Elias reminded her.

Sienna nodded.

"I will be making regular visits to see you and our child or children." He said.

Sienna nodded.

"Some nights I will have to sleep over." He said confidently. "For appearances."

Again, Sienna nodded. "I will save you a room."

"Very well." Elias said. "Mother, assign her some servants that will care for Ali. Give her a dozen guards, a nurse and whatever else is necessary." He pushed his cloak back, turned and walked away.

The negotiation that Sienna thought would be long and complicated turned out to be so easy. It was as if Elias had long anticipated this choice and prepared himself for it.

Lady Cadelaria followed her son, heels squeaking against the floor. Gone was her politeness. "Elias, how can you do this? Stop walking and talk to me. She can’t just take my granddaughter away as she pleases. I refuse this to happen. Your divorce is your business, but Ali is mine."

Elias only stopped when he reached the front door. He turned and replied as if he was speaking to a business colleague, "Sienna is Ali’s legal mother. The cub has always longed for her mother, that is why everyday she was caught sneaking to Sienna’s room for a hug or affection in the past. Even when she was rejected she kept trying.

I am not soft, mother. There is an emotional comfort Sienna can provide to Ali and Eli that I cannot. Since Sienna has come to her senses and she is willing to love Ali, I will not stop it. For whose benefit would I be making such an illogical decision?"
