Transmigrated: The Lycan King's Pet-Chapter 136 Locked In
Chapter 136: Chapter 136 Locked In
His eyes narrowed at me, he walked closer, every step he took was like a storm coming.
’Am I wrong? Maybe I’m the one wanting him to feel something for me and I only put that expectation on him. I believe he really sees me as a pet, there is no need to be dramatic about it.’ I took a deep breath.
As much as it hurts it is better to accept reality. "Master... congratulations on getting a mate." I tried to accept my reality... but that doesn’t mean I’ll stay here to watch it.
He growled ferociously, his hand grabbed my shoulders, making me tense and still. His eyes were grey.
"Don’t you ever congratulate me on such a thing." He growled.
I looked at him, trying to blink away the tears fighting their way out of my eyes. I’ve never been scared like this in my life. Why was he so angry at me while I was only trying to congratulate him?
His narrowed and angry eyes widened in surprise. "Don’t cry." His thumb brushed away my tears.
’He is bipolar too.’
Like a dam broken, my tears flooded my face. No matter how I tried to hold them back, I just couldn’t... I couldn’t.
"Stop crying Ember... You don’t look too good when you cry." He pulled me into a hug.
"Bwah ahhhh hah!" I increased the volume, pulling away from his embrace, however, he pulled me back. His hand caressing my hair.
"Shhhhhh."
"Let go of me." I struggled more in his embrace.
"Stay still Ember," he held me tighter, my face pressed against his chest. He began to pat my back... It was awkward at first, then it became better and better.
I sniffled. ’Why is he making this hard for me? Why does he act like he cares about me again?"
He pulled away when he noticed that I had almost stopped crying. He cupped my face. "Ember... all you need to know is that you are the only living being who managed to have a small spot in my heart."
’Was that supposed to be a compliment or a reassurance? Because it is none of them.’
"It’s fine Master. But who are you mating with?" I sniffled trying to calm my messy heart.
His body tensed a little bit. "That’s something you shouldn’t concern yourself with. Focus on recovering."
I nodded my head obediently, lowering my eyes so he wouldn’t see the thoughts spinning in them. If he thought I’d sit here quietly while he went to celebrate a union with another woman, he was wrong. But for now, I had to play the part of a quiet, agreeable, submissive pet. That was the only way I’d get a chance to slip away.
Damon stared at me for a second, as if trying to read my thoughts. I kept my expression calm.
To my surprise, he didn’t say anything. Instead, he leaned forward and placed a small kiss on my forehead. It was quick, almost too quick to mean anything... but for some reason, it lingered.
Before I could react, he turned around.
"Where are you going?" I asked, reaching out to grab his hand.
He didn’t even glance at me. "To prepare for the party," he said with that usual detached tone, then walked out. The door slammed shut behind him.
I stared at it for a long moment, the cold wood almost echoing the silence that followed.
The kiss had confused me. But I wasn’t going to sit here and dwell on it. I had work to do.
I stood up and got dressed quickly. I didn’t carry any bag or anything that would raise suspicion. My hair was tied into a neat bun, my clothes were simple and practical, and I tied a blue scarf around my neck, matching my dress. I looked like someone just taking a walk.
Keeping my head high and my steps composed, I walked to the door and opened it.
To my surprise, two guards stood there. One on each side of the entrance. Their eyes snapped to me instantly.
I ignored them, walking out of the room, but halted immediately as they suddenly blocked my path.
I blinked. "Excuse me... I’m just heading out for a bit."
They didn’t move. "We’re under orders not to let you leave," the taller one said.
I frowned. "Why not? I thought I was allowed to walk around freely."
"The Alpha said otherwise. You’re to remain in the room until further notice."
I crossed my arms, trying to look confused and not furious. "Did he say why?"
The second guard looked away. "He doesn’t need to explain his orders to us. We just follow them."
I stared at them both, my heart pounding in my chest. So he was already taking precautions. Did he not trust me? Or was this his way of locking me in, now that he thought I might try to run?
My jaw tightened. "Fine," I said quietly, stepping back into the room.
I closed the door slowly, then leaned against it, biting the inside of my cheek. The fact that he’d placed guards without saying anything to me meant one thing... he expected me to try something.
’I wonder why you are so desperate to lock me in?’ My eyes flicked to the window, and a small smirk formed on my lips.
I walked stealthily to the window, ignoring the pain shooting up my spine. I looked down to see if it was clear.
My breath hitched when I found four guards standing guard on the ground underneath the window. One of the guard’s eyes met mine, his gaze was stern as if to tell me to go back inside.
I slowly flicked my eyes to the horizon, as if I were watching the beautiful view of a cloudy sky.
’Okay, this is more serious than I anticipated. But how can I get out of this room? What should I do?’ I paced around the room.
Then the mark on my back flared up, burning through my shoulder like an iron rod. A whimper escaped my lips as I tried to bite back the cry.
I fell to my knees, and my breath came out in gasps. My eyes blurred for a moment. It felt like my shoulder was being pulled apart.
Cold beads of sweat formed on my skin like a pearl. A whirring sound came from behind me, and my heart stuttered in my chest.
’Was it the same blue light? What does it want from me?’
But strangely there was no lullaby this time, or butterflies and flowers.
I slowly turned around to see what it was. My body shook from the pain rushing through it.
My breath caught in my throat and my eyes widened, this...
