Transmigrated into Another Apocalyptic World (BL)-Chapter 542 - 541: Reaching the first base southwards 8
"The kids can show me their houses later. I can force those who were staying there for some compensation, but I don’t think I can help in getting those houses back, as other people would just force their way in again," their guide readily said.
"That’s already good. It’s better to get something instead of nothing," Luciel said in agreement.
The kids weren’t strong enough to defend their houses at all, and the man who acted as their guide also couldn’t watch the kids’ situation all the time, as he also had other things to do.
If he was gone one day, those houses would just go to other people in the end, so it’s still better to get something out of it while they still can.
The base they were in wasn’t like the North Base, which at least has orphanages that manage the children.
In bases like this, they don’t have enough energy and time to look after kids at all, so the kids have to find ways to survive on their own.
Well, at least the base is still good enough for the kids to be able to live even though they’re living in alleys.
So at least the morals of the people in the base hadn’t gone too low. As long as the kids were tenacious enough, they could still live and probably manage to grow up.
The kids from the alley became happy as soon as they heard that they could get compensation from the people that were living in their houses.
It seems that they also know that they couldn’t protect their houses so they were already happy after hearing that they would get some compensation for their houses.
While they were talking with the kids from the alley and Nathan was treating the kids, Camille finally finished listing the prices and left those kids to discuss and came to talk to the kids from the alley and also helped Nathan in treating the other kids.
Since Nathan and Camille were there, they managed to treat all the kids immediately, as the kids only had minor injuries.
Astrid and the others also finished their discussion quickly, wrapping up before the last kid was even done with Camille.
"Okay, so you guys are done? What’s your plan?" Luciel asked, even though he had already overheard what they were discussing.
"We will just give them some food for today, and leave their food for the whole month with the leader so that he can assign people to give them their food every day," Astrid said.
"Oh, that’s good too. So what do you guys plan to give?"
"We plan to give a bit of rice, a lot of water, noodles, canned goods, and cookies—and we also plan to give some chocolates," Astrid added.
"So, you plan to give those things for a month. Do you guys have enough money for all the things that you thought of?"
"We have enough," Astrid said confidently.
"We received a lot of contribution points," Ashlee added.
"Even if you plan to help others again later? Will you guys still have some left for yourselves?"
The kids nodded, and Sophie added, "We will work more later and ask for a lot of contribution points and zombie crystals! Then we will have more again!"
Luciel chuckled and said, "Oh, what work can you do now, Sophie?"
"Hmm. Serving water?" Sophie answered tentatively.
"Oh, you plan to ask for contribution points for serving water?" Luciel teased.
"No, I’ll learn more later!" Sophie insisted.
"Then how are you going to get more contribution points and zombie crystals?"
"I’ll ask for more on my birthday, on Christmas Day, on New Year’s Day, and—" Sophie obviously couldn’t remember the rest and looked at Ashlee and the other kids for help.
Even though he was talking to the kids from the alley, Luciel had still heard what his group was discussing earlier.
It seemed that since they needed to save more contribution points and zombie crystals, they had already been thinking of how to acquire them.
Astrid and the others were okay, as they could get their own every time they participated in cleaning up zombies; however, Ashlee and the others were too young and couldn’t earn on their own yet.
To save up, they had already planned to ask for more whenever there were events like their birthdays or holidays.
They had mentioned different events, like Children’s Day, but Sophie obviously forgot about it, which is why she looked at the others. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
In fact, Sophie also forgot to mention one of their main sources of income that the others had brought up: their allowance.
The kids were receiving allowances from their guardians even though they weren’t using them, and they also received an allowance as an allocation from the team every month.
However, they weren’t handling the money themselves, so they probably hadn’t paid much attention to what they received monthly.
That was why Sophie had forgotten it immediately and only remembered the holidays and birthdays where they would receive a lot of gifts.
By using their own money to help others now, they’ll probably become more aware of the value of the things they have and pay more attention to what they receive in the future.
"Okay, no need to mention them. For now, since you guys wanted to give them food, you can give it to them already," Luciel said.
The kids nodded immediately and looked at Theo. Violet also brought out her pen and paper to take notes on what they would give
But before Theo brought out the food, Astrid asked him to bring out a basin first. Theo obeyed, and Astrid immediately filled it with water.
"Woah, you guys actually have a space user and you just brought him out! And that girl is actually a water ability user!" the man who acted as their guide blurted out in surprise.
The kids from the alley also looked at Theo and Astrid in surprise and awe, seeing that they were already powerful ability users.
