Transmigrated Genius: Fragile Heiress Reigns Supreme-Chapter 506 - 510: A Joyous Occasion (Part 4)
She was indeed not wrong about Tianyi.
"Alright. I’ll leave the matter to you and Sixth Master Luo. Jin Dairui and his wife are currently free. If you find them useful, let them help as well. It will save us from having to hire someone else." Tianyi nodded eagerly, when Xiqiu suddenly added, "Also, your marriage with Chunyan is settled. Don’t forget your marriage while you’re busy with the shop."
Tianyi’s face instantly turned red. He went from being full of spirit to looking completely awkward and stammering.
Xiqiu and Ruan Jingliu exchanged a glance, both smiling without saying a word!
In the afternoon, Ruan Jingliu stayed for dinner. The two discussed matters related to the shop in the room.
Tong Xiyan arrived!
"...I sent someone to the medical hall to fetch you, only to hear you were at the Marquis Mansion, so I hurried over," Tong Xiyan said anxiously to Ruan Jingliu as soon as she entered the door.
Xiqiu was taken aback. She invited her to sit on the kang and asked, "What’s the rush? Is there something wrong?" Tong Xiyan, after sipping some tea to catch her breath, replied, "It’s my mother-in-law. She caught a cold a few days ago and hasn’t gotten better. This morning she coughed non-stop, and there was even blood in her phlegm. My husband anxiously sought several doctors, who all said it was internal heat poison, aggravated by the fluctuating cold weather. They prescribed some detoxifying and tonifying medicines. My husband was still worried and thought of Nurse Zhang, so he asked me to invite you over for a look."
Xiqiu looked towards Ruan Jingliu.
Ruan Jingliu thought for a moment, nodded, and said, "I will go by the end of the afternoon hour." She was always punctual for appointments.
Tong Xiyan breathed a sigh of relief, then turned to Xiqiu and asked, "How is the business after the medicine shop’s opening?" Xiqiu replied with a smile, "It’s still unclear at the moment, but I have to thank you for the gift."
"It’s nothing between us sisters," said Tong Xiyan. "Oh, I forgot to tell you. Guess who came to see me yesterday."
"Who?" Xiqiu asked with a smile, assuming it must be someone unexpected, or Xiyan wouldn’t be so excited.
"You’ll never guess!" Tong Xiyan laughed, her eyes full of a teasing expression, "It was Third Sister!"
Xiqiu paused her tea-drinking motion, looking at Tong Xiyan in surprise. Tong Xiyan, pleased with Xiqiu’s reaction, laughed and said, "I didn’t believe it when the porter came to report until I saw her myself." She paused and continued, "Do you know why she came to me?" Without waiting for Xiqiu to answer, she showed a mysterious smile, "She heard me talking about opening an embroidery shop and thought it was a good idea. She actually wants to partner up with me!"
She had to admit it was surprising, yet somehow seemed expected.
Surprising because Tong Xiyang took the initiative to talk to Tong Xiyan and wanted to do business together. Expected because could the Wujin Bo Mansion truly be at the end of its tether as others have said?
Otherwise, why would the proud Tong Xiyang lower her head to do business with Tong Xiyan?
"Did you agree?" Xiqiu asked.
Tong Xiyan shook her head and replied, "No, I told her I’d think about it. The last time I mentioned it was just a rough idea. If we really do it, it requires careful consideration. We can’t just blindly invest based on a simple notion."
What she said made sense, but Tong Xiyang probably couldn’t wait any longer.
Indeed, Tong Xiyan sighed and added, "She’s urging me, telling me to hurry up, or she’ll do it herself."
She suddenly wondered if Tong Xiyang’s urgency had other reasons, like transferring assets for future distribution or "laundering money" for Ren Jun. Could it really be purely for making a living?
Xiqiu leaned more towards the former.
After all, she had just heard Fourth Master Xiao mention matters between Ren Jun and Prince Rong. The business at the Drunken Immortal Pavilion was booming, not to the point of desperation, which made Tong Xiyang’s sudden approach to Tong Xiyan for business seem odd!
"Business isn’t that simple. You should consider it carefully," Xiqiu advised gently. "Or maybe ask for Fourth Sister’s husband’s opinion first. No hurry to decide."
"I know!" Tong Xiyan nodded, "How could I not be aware of a person like her. Who knows what she’s really planning!"
Xiqiu said nothing more. Tong Xiyan hesitated, glanced at Ruan Jingliu, looking like she had something else to say. Ruan Jingliu stood up and said, "I’ll head to the medical hall first, then directly to Jiang Mansion in the afternoon."
Tong Xiyan seemingly had something to discuss, so Xiqiu didn’t insist on having Ruan Jingliu stay. She stood up and asked Chunliu to see her out.
Returning, Tong Xiyan asked with some embarrassment, "I heard that Prince Rong invited a specialist in gynecology from Yingtian. Do you know about this?"
Xiqiu had heard about it, so she nodded, "I heard he even stays at the Prince Manor. Is there something you need?" Tong Xiyan looked embarrassed and said, "Could you take me to see the Second Madam? I would like to invite that doctor to examine me."
"Ah?" Xiqiu was surprised, "Is something wrong with your health? Are you feeling unwell?"
Tong Xiyan quickly waved her hand and replied, "No, it’s my mother-in-law. She said that since my marriage over six months ago, I haven’t shown any signs of pregnancy. She’s been seeking doctors for me everywhere. Even Doctor Feng, who once treated my eldest sister, was consulted, but nothing came of it. I’ve taken quite a bit of medicine, but there’s still no movement. So, I remembered hearing about that doctor from Yingtian and want to give it a try."
Xiqiu sighed. Tong Xiyan had been married for less than a year and was already anxious. Should she also get a check-up?
"Alright then," Xiqiu said, standing up, "I’ll change my clothes and accompany you to the Second Madam." She thought of Madam Jiang’s morning sickness and wondered if the gynecology specialist would have a good remedy.
Tong Xiyan nodded, "Good!" Xiqiu went inside to change, then accompanied Tong Xiyan to the Second Madam. The Second Madam was napping, so Xiqiu and Tong Xiyan waited briefly in the room. When she came in from outside, she smiled and said, "I’m sorry for keeping Fourth Sister and Madam Jiang waiting so long."
"There’s no need to apologize, Second Sister-in-law," Xiqiu smiled, "It’s our arrival that was sudden."
The Second Madam wore a full smile as she sat across from them and said, "Spring makes one drowsy. These days, after lunch, I feel sleepy, and if I don’t nap, I have no energy for the afternoon."
Xiqiu was taken aback, looked closely at the Second Madam’s face, and replied with a smile, "There are many matters in the mansion, and Second Sister-in-law has been busy with the Second Sister’s marriage lately. It indeed is exhausting."
"There’s no leisure in managing the household," the Second Madam said with a smile, turning to Tong Xiyan, "Madam Jiang, you are a rare guest!"
Tong Xiyan smiled and nodded, "I’ve always meant to visit but have been busy. Just as Sixth Sister said, managing the household keeps me so occupied, I barely have time for tea." The Second Madam found a kindred spirit in her, and they began chatting about various household matters, finding they were very much alike in temperament.
