Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 195: The ??? Announcement [ 3 ]
The thought of looking for demons among these people left my mind completely.
"..."
"Uh... You know that telling us over dinner would have been better, right?"
He shrugged.
"Sandra wanted to tell Clementine all by herself while neither of us were home. As for you and me? Seeing how our first meeting was kind of like this, I felt like it would be more familiar."
Dude.
"I’m joking, by the way. I just didn’t know when else to tell you. So here it is. Aside from that, Sandra and I will be leaving for the new area now."
"I really can’t understand you sometimes," I said, ruffling my own hair.
"Also, what do you mean by leaving right now? Didn’t you say you’d lead them tomorrow?"
"Of course I did. But I lied. Someone else will be leading them to another location where we are not. Sandra and I will be heading to where her mother used to live. It’s a big community, and I’m sure we’ll be welcomed with open arms."
Ah...
So they aren’t going with the others because there’s some prejudice.
That prejudice would spread into hate, and their lives would be in danger.
"But don’t you think revealing that she’s pregnant is a bad idea? What if they follow you?"
He smiled.
"The community I’m sending them to is filled with old sirens who have respected Clementine ever since she was born. If those same people hear gossip that the mother of the Siren Queen is once again pregnant, they’ll do everything in their power to protect her."
"I would take Sandra there too, but those people are way too overbearing. They might mean well, but nonstop talking and praise would get to you, you know?"
"I see..."
That makes a lot more sense than that.
But since that’s the case, one thing’s clear.
"Clementine and I will escort you."
"Hm? There’s no need for that. We’re safe."
Right.
"Sure you are. I’m also sure the moment we get back, you’re going to get an earful from Clementine about the same problem. We’re going to escort you whether you like it or not."
He just sighed and gave up. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
I felt like sometimes he was just way too optimistic.
"Let’s head back and leave then."
At my words, he began leading the way home. As expected, the moment we arrived, we both heard screams from inside.
Excited screams, as well as Clementine running all around the house, clearly panicked. Once she felt my presence right outside the door, she abruptly opened it.
"A-Amon, my mother, she’s—"
"She’s pregnant. Your father told me."
"..."
Her eyes rolled to the back of her head, and right as she began to fall, I caught her with my Telekinesis and set her down against the wall.
"Tsk. Sandra passed out too when she found out. She also had the same reaction. I thought she was dying or something. It scared the shit out of me."
I let out a chuckle at his words and stepped inside. Clementine’s mother sat there with her legs crossed. She also had a wide smirk on her face.
And when she saw me, her smirk widened.
"Welcome back. Want anything else to eat, or should we wake Clementine up and get going?"
Right as I was about to speak up, Clementine’s father shushed me and leaned in to Sandra’s ear. She was a little puzzled at first, but her eyes soon widened.
She flashed a knowing smile at me, her gaze drifting between my ring finger and my eyes.
"Can I see them?"
He just told her about the rings, probably about the future proposal too.
I wanted to tell her myself, but since he’s already done it, I decided to just reach into my dimensional ring and carefully pull out both rings.
Unlike Clementine’s father, who nitpicked the bones that felt similar to a leviathan’s, Sandra’s eyes glowed in amazement. She even went as far as to put one of the rings on her own finger to see how it would look, and as expected, since Clementine and her mother looked so alike, it was perfect.
Eventually, she took the ring off and reluctantly gave it back to me, where I then stored the rings in my dimensional ring again.
"They’re beautiful. I’m sure Clementine is going to love them as well."
"Thank you..."
She nodded at me, then turned to her husband.
"Dear, maybe it’s time we got a new pair as well, hm?"
"Jealousy doesn’t look good on you, my dear wife," Clementine’s father replied sarcastically.
She tilted her head.
"Are you saying I don’t look good?"
Wow...
The ’do you really love me?’ trap.
I thought I wouldn’t be able to see it so soon.
As expected, she stunlocked Clementine’s father, leaving him a stammering mess as he tried to salvage the situation.
I just watched their banter for a bit before returning to Clementine.
She had woken up by now, but she still seemed a little shaken.
I sat down beside her. In the next instant, she leaned over and rested her head on my shoulder.
"Amon... I’m scared."
"Why?"
She paused for a moment, then continued:
"Why else? Look at the world we’re living in. What am I supposed to do when my sibling is born and they have to see all of this? Also... What if before he’s born, my mom—"
"Clementine, stop," I interjected, hugging her tightly.
Tears began to stream down her cheeks and land on my chest.
I knew how she felt, since even though I haven’t known her family for long, they were my one and only family left in this world.
In both worlds, actually.
So I was just as anxious, since I knew just what could happen and how everyone we’re close to could be used.
But this is why both of us are getting stronger. To not only reach the ending, but also never let anything bad happen to either of us or the people we care about.
So instead of imagining the worst-case scenario, I just began comforting her with soft kisses, and I also brushed Clementine’s hair, waiting for her tears to stop.
I wished there was a way I could comfort her more than this, but I’m bad at stuff like comforting.
After all, my family’s bodyguards took me to a safe house, where I lived until I was 16.
I didn’t know why they did that, since I was still young at the time.
But when I was finally let outside of the safe house, alongside my parents’ several-million-dollar inheritance and the news of their deaths on my 7th birthday... I guess I just never really knew how to grieve.
...Or help those who grieve.
"..."
I really am messed up, aren’t I?
"Clementine, Amon? Are you two alright?"
At Clementine’s father’s words, I just turned to him with a blank look.
"Give us a moment. We’ll be ready in just a few minutes."
"...If you say so. I’ll go finish packing the rest of my office. Oh, and Clementine? Could you take down the pictures for us? We don’t want to accidentally crush them in our dimensional rings."
"Hic... Okay..."
He smiled back at us and went upstairs.
As for Clementine, she buried her head in my chest and enjoyed my warmth while also trying to calm herself down.
After roughly ten minutes, Clementine stopped sobbing and began removing and storing the pictures. Her eyes were still a little red.
Aside from that, her parents were just chatting beside the door. They were clearly ready to leave.
And once Clementine took down the final picture, we were ready to leave as well.
