Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 121: The Harper Citadel Arc [ 3 ]
An hour passed in the blink of an eye.
My hands were all bloodied, since every single time I used my Mystic Eyes, I saw the same vision, except in the last location, where I saw the outline of the Harper Citadel.
That means by the time I get to the main gate, they would already be here.
With that in mind, I wiped away the blood, fixed my clothes, and then swiftly ran up to the very top of the Harper Citadel wall.
It was a thick wall, and so there was a bunch of artillery scattered around.
Though, it was pretty empty...
Anyhow, I walked along the wall until I finally reached Clementine.
She was sitting on the edge of the wall and rocking her feet back and forth.
But when she noticed me, she glanced over and smiled.
"98 carriages have arrived so far. In total, 342 people arrived, and I only found 15 of them to be a little suspicious."
Glancing down at the citadel, I asked:
"What about the latest carriage?"
"Ah..."
She scratched her cheek.
"A few minutes ago, nearly 15 carriages arrived at once. There were a few important looking people. There was one demon among them, three very dark souls who were dressed as priests, and lastly, Kai and Vincent also arrived."
Huh.
That’s way more than I was expecting.
"What are your thoughts on Kai?"
Clementine shrugged.
"He saw me up here and waved."
Of course he did...
Anyhow, given the amount of people that arrived, it was hard to pinpoint just who it was that was responsible for the demons coming here.
Sure, Clementine said there was one demon among them, but I didn’t think it was that easy.
So far, Kai was very suspicious.
Vincent seemed like a victim.
And lastly...
"How were the important people dressed?"
"Fancy clothes with a lot of expensive jewelry. Top hats, canes, thin weapons, and monocles. They’re nobles, I think."
I pondered over it for a moment, then nodded.
"Nobles, yeah. Canes and thin weapons, though? That reminds me of the Vermillion family. They hide a second weapon in their canes, and they’re masters of dual wielding."
She tilted her head slightly.
"So? Is the Vermillion family known for anything?"
"Yep."
They were.
"They are known as one of the greatest families on the Western continent because of their contributions in the many fights against demons."
Meeting her gaze, I added:
"Basically, they’re killers, but they’re on our side. I’ll rule them out for now."
As if understanding what I’ll ask next, Clementine spoke up.
"The priests wore clothes similar to Fivien. I think they’re also Arch Priests."
So Arch Priests, high ranked nobles, Kai and Vincent... And 15 other people.
This is going to be a little difficult.
I glanced down at the city.
The priests Clementine had talked about were already in the cathedral.
The Vermillion family, on the other hand, were in a nearby inn, eating food.
Kai and Vincent were shopping on the main street as well.
Putting them behind me for now, I deepened my focus and eventually found the demon Clementine had mentioned.
To my surprise, it was inside the cathedral as well.
Were the Arch Priests experimenting with demons?
"..."
I felt like the longer I was here, the more mysteries I was getting involved in.
But I also knew I had to tackle them all if I wanted to find out just what was going on.
Sadly, I didn’t have the luxury of taking it one step at a time.
Inspecting the whole city several times, I located a few strong new arrivals who were just roaming the citadel.
Once I was done locating them, I gestured at Clementine, and the two of us carefully slid down the side of the wall and re-entered the citadel like normal people.
"So what’s the plan? Will you inspect everyone until your eyes pick up on something?"
"That’s the gist of it for now," I answered.
"There’s six people in one of the districts ahead. Let’s check on them first."
Getting a nod in response, the two of us navigated the lively streets until entering a narrow street, filled to the brim with all sorts of food stalls.
We passed most of the stalls, and then stopped at a ramen shop where six hooded people sat side by side and ate quietly.
I sat down on the right of one of them, and Clementine sat beside me.
I was pretty sure she was more excited about eating food than actually finding out what we needed.
Still, I raised my hand and ordered two pork ramen bowls, which were delivered to us in less than a minute. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Clementine smiled and dug in right away.
As for me, I glanced to my left.
The six men had perfect posture and ate like some professional food critics.
I was honestly kind of jealous.
But as the small-talker that I was, I spoke up.
"The food must really be something else if all of you are here, huh?"
"..."
Even though none of them replied, I continued:
"It’s really a pity this place is so hard to find. Oh well... So what do you guys do? You look like mercenaries."
Obviously, I was kidding.
One look with Blood-Sight told me all I needed to know.
Very low heart rates, controlled bleeding, and hidden daggers.
These six were assassins.
But they didn’t seem to be after me or Clementine...
"Here on a job, perhaps?"
As if they were fed up with my shit, all six of them turned toward me in unison.
Even though they didn’t say a word, their eyes clearly told me that I should mind my own business.
The six of them began eating their food quicker before abruptly slamming down their bowls and walking away.
As I watched their parting figures, I let out an annoyed groan.
In the meantime, I caught sight of Clementine, who was devouring her bowl of ramen.
Giving her hair a quick ruffle, I finished my bowl of ramen and gently slammed it down on the table.
Since it was still morning, I was prepared to go and observe the other people who I was suspicious of.
Just then, someone sat down beside me, and when I glanced back, I froze.
It was Kai and Vincent.
Kai, who had sat down beside me, flashed a surprised look.
"Mikael and Evangeline? What a coincidence meeting you two here! Hahaha!"
"..."
He patted my back and finally relaxed both hands on the table.
For a moment, he sat in silence.
Then, he met my eyes and smiled as if he knew something.
And from his next question... clearly, he did.
"Seems like you two are looking for someone. Do you mind if I help?"
