Chapter 190: Chapter 190: The Fans Have Arrived

This good news lifted the whole family’s spirits. At the dining table, Yi Weimin joyfully shared the news of his acceptance and especially thanked Ding Ancheng, "Ancheng, thanks to you, I told them I was literate and they accepted me."

"Brother-in-law, it was you who is literate, it had nothing to do with me," Ding Ancheng said with a smile.

"Bang bang—" The door was knocked with quite a bit of force. Ding Ancheng raised his eyebrows and went to open it himself. Standing outside was a familiar face, Zhou Zeyuan.

"I’m exhausted, hurry up and help," Zhou Zeyuan said, holding two fans, so he could only lightly knock on the door with his foot.

Ding Ancheng welcomed him inside. Zhou Zeyuan clicked his tongue, mumbling, "I asked you to help me carry them."

Xu Jinchun followed Zhou Zeyuan, also holding two fans. The corners of Ding Ancheng’s mouth curved slightly upward, caught by Zhou Zeyuan’s glance, "That makes you happy? There’s still one more in the car, go get it yourself."

Ding Ancheng walked straight out the door and came back holding an electric fan, "How did you manage to buy so many?"

"Mr. Ding, Third Master swept up all the fans in the city, which is why it took a few extra days," Xu Jinchun explained with a smile.

"Thanks." Ding Ancheng slightly nodded towards Zhou Zeyuan to show his gratitude.

"Even so, I won’t charge you any less," Zhou Zeyuan grinned, showing his teeth.

"Okay." Ding Ancheng didn’t care, "Just deduct it directly from over there."

"Hiss—wishful thinking, I haven’t even started earning yet, and you want to deduct from it," Zhou Zeyuan said, somewhat hopping mad.

"I got it, I got it, I’ll give it to you later. Let’s eat first, you haven’t eaten yet, right?" Ding Ancheng said.

"You do have some conscience." Zhou Zeyuan put down the fan and plopped down on an empty stool, which was originally Ding Ancheng’s place.

"There’s good stuff to take this time," Ding Ancheng said.

Zhou Zeyuan’s eyes lit up, "Looks like I didn’t come here for nothing."

Anmin was quick to provide two sets of chopsticks and handed over sodas warmly, "Brother Zhou, Brother Xu, have some soda to quench your thirst first, I’ll go fry some dishes."

"Anmin, you’re so considerate," Zhou Zeyuan said, smiling happily.

Yi Roujing was eager to try the fan as soon as she saw it, the airflow was strong, but the sound was impressively loud.

"Wow, it’s so cool," Yi Weiliang cheerfully moved next to Yi Roujing, feeling the power of the fan head-on, "No fear of heat in this summer now."

"We were silly," Yi Roujing suddenly realized a serious problem and looked at Ding Ancheng, a little bemused.

"What’s wrong?" Ding Ancheng was a bit puzzled.

"We said we’d give them to our parents, but the village isn’t electrified, how will they use them?" Yi Roujing burst out laughing.

"Hahaha—" The loudest laugher was Zhou Zeyuan, "Oh my, my belly, Ding Ancheng, be honest, don’t you want me to eat? And with so many fans, you surely don’t need them all, let me take a few back."

"They’ll be useful," Yi Roujing hurriedly hugged it, "They won’t spoil just sitting there, once there’s electricity, we can use them."

"The county already has plans, the rural electrification project starts this September, and by next summer we can use them," Ding Ancheng said.

"Your news is still sharp," Zhou Zeyuan said, unsurprised, "Jiang Province is wealthy, sure to lead the country; last year the countryside under the big counties started electrification, Huaixi County is finally up."

"Big brother, sister-in-law was right, when Wan Tang Production Team gets electrified, you might really have to go pull the lines," Yi Weijun said with a laugh, joined by Yi Weimin.

Though the rural folks couldn’t enjoy the benefits of fans yet, Yi Roujing and her group could experience it while staying in the county that night.

Ding Anmin and Xia Xingchen shared one, Yi Weiliang and his brothers had one, Ding Anguo one, and Ding Ancheng and Yi Roujing one. They all seriously learned how to switch on the fan and adjust the speed, but the current fans couldn’t be timed, needing to be manually turned on and off.

"Where are you staying tonight?" Ding Ancheng asked Zhou Zeyuan, who was burying himself in a bowl of rice.

"Of course, I’m staying at your place, not stupid enough to stay at an inn with fans here," Zhou Zeyuan replied, lifting his head to give Ding Ancheng a look.

Everyone stayed at No. 6, Bright Alley that night, with the three women, including Yi Roujing, in one room, Ding Ancheng and Ding Anguo together, Zhou Zeyuan and Xu Jinchun in the main room, and the Yi brothers together. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

As they had guests, Ding Anmin got up early the next day, with Yi Roujing following her, yawning, to the state-owned restaurant to buy breakfast. They bought a lot of fritters, meat buns, and plain mantou, boiled some eggs, made a pot of white rice porridge, fried two vegetable dishes, and sliced a plate of pickles, preparing a good meal for everyone.

Yi Weimin and Yi Weijun had to return to the Wan Tang Production Team today; they had been out for a few days and were about to start work soon, needing to go back to pack and share the good news with their family.

Yi Roujing was ready to go to work, but today there was an extra person, Ding Anguo.

"Hmm?" Yi Roujing turned around in confusion, with a hint of questioning in her eyes.

"I’m going to visit Comrade Feng Lishu," Ding Anguo said openly.

"If you go, it might become a settled deal. Almost all nurses at the workers’ hospital know Lishu is involved with my younger uncle, which is you. As for how it got out, I’m not very clear," Yi Roujing said.

"Hmm, I understand," Ding Anguo nodded, "It’s a rumor about us two, but letting Comrade Feng Lishu bear it alone isn’t right."

"So you mean, you’re open to finding a partner with Lishu too?" Yi Roujing pursued.

Ding Anguo’s ears reddened shamefully, but he still didn’t say it outright, "I need to ask Comrade Feng Lishu’s opinion. After all, it’s about both of us, and I’m afraid she might have seen it as a temporary measure before."

Ding Anmin couldn’t stand it any longer and kicked Ding Anguo on the butt, "You! You aren’t as brave as Xiaobao, if you like someone, pursue it, if not, reject them. If you can’t even do such a little thing, what are you good for?"

"Anmin, I’ve noticed that since you’ve been seeing Huang Xiaobao, your temper has been getting more fiery," Ding Anguo wasn’t angry; instead, he smiled.

"Nonsense," Anmin’s cheeks flushed pink before she suddenly remembered, "I forgot, Grandma Huang said she would go to Dingping Production Team to visit Mom and Dad this week."

"To forget such an important thing, you really are something," Yi Roujing gently poked Anmin’s head, "Call Mom at noon, talk to her. We’ll go back early then, just buy some stuff to prepare."

Ding Anguo was an unfamiliar face, so he attracted attention as soon as he arrived at the workers’ hospital.

"Roujing, this wouldn’t be your younger uncle, would it?" Han Xiangxi asked excitedly.

"Hello, I’m Ding Anguo," Ding Anguo introduced himself graciously.

"Lishu, Lishu, where are you? Come out quick, Ding Anguo is here to see you," Han Xiangxi happily called for Feng Lishu right as she entered.

Ding Anguo felt a bit embarrassed about the fuss.
