Transmigrated as Cannon Fodder — I Rise to Female Lead Through Hard Work-Chapter 155: Liu Family Sisters
At the entrance of the Huaixi County State-owned Hotel, there were quite a few people standing around. Yi Roujing recognized among them a familiar pair of siblings; they looked like a family. The most strikingly dressed was a girl about her own age, wearing a bright red floral long dress, thick black braids, black cloth shoes, looking a bit anxious.
"Mom, what time did you say to meet them? Why haven’t they come yet?"
"Half past eleven. What’s the rush? We’re early, that’s all." She was tanned and her thin face was creased with wrinkles, but her voice was loud and clear, "By the way, where’s Jasmine?"
"Second sister probably went to find a friend." replied the young girl with whom she had a fleeting acquaintance.
Yi Roujing now understood; these were the people being set up to meet her third brother. Thinking of the scene she just witnessed, Yi Roujing felt a bit repulsed.
However, more than anything, she was puzzled. Why would a whole family dot upon a daughter but neglect a son? That didn’t fit rural mentality. Among the four standing at the entrance of the state-owned hotel, it was only the boy who was dressed shabbily, and no one showed concern for him the whole time.
Yi Weiliang, who had been walking, stopped because Yi Roujing stopped, and so he stopped too, "What’s wrong, little sister?"
"Third brother, who introduced this girl to Mom?"
"I think it was Caihua, our neighbor. Caihua married over from Wan Tang Production Team." Yi Weiliang explained.
Yi Weiliang and Yi Roujing stood not far away, looking at their own people. Liu Molin was the first to react and went red in the face when she saw Yi Weiliang’s tall figure and handsome face. She tugged at her mother’s clothes, "Mom, those two are looking at us. Could it be them?"
Everyone looked over. The young girl’s eyes brightened when she saw Yi Roujing and her eyes turned cunningly.
"Is that Weiliang?" the woman began to ask with a smile.
"Hello, Aunt. I am Yi Weiliang." Yi Weiliang replied with a smile, "This is my little sister, Yi Roujing."
"So pretty, so pretty." The woman knew that Yi Family’s daughter was already married, and to a teacher too, so her attitude was particularly friendly.
"Hello, Aunt." Yi Roujing nodded in greeting.
"Sister, what a coincidence!" The young girl suddenly stepped forward, smiling radiantly at Yi Roujing.
Yi Roujing returned the smile, "It is indeed a coincidence."
"Hey, little boy, is the candy tasty?" Yi Roujing suddenly squatted down and smiled at the boy.
The young girl beside her suddenly stiffened, and before the boy could speak, she hurriedly said, "My brother says it’s very sweet, thank you, sister."
"That’s good." Yi Roujing did not expose her, she called over Yi Weiliang, reached into his hand to grab a handful of fruit candies, divided two for the girl, and gave the remainder to the boy, even peeling one and feeding it to him.
"Sweet, sweet." The boy exclaimed excitedly.
"You shouldn’t talk while you eat, or you might choke, okay?" Yi Roujing gently reminded him with a smile.
The boy nodded, not knowing if he really understood, but he truly stopped talking. However, his eyes kept glancing over at Yi Weiliang, which Yi Roujing found a bit odd.
"A little boy can’t keep things safe. I’ll hold it for him, I’ll hold it for him." The woman directly took the fruit candies out of the boy’s pockets and stuffed them all into her own pocket.
Yi Roujing smiled without saying a word.
"Aunt, why don’t we go inside?" Yi Weiliang invited them with a smile to enter the state-owned hotel, sitting down on one side near the wall.
"Aunt, what would you like to eat? I’ll go order the dishes." Yi Weiliang asked politely.
"Braised pork."
"Anything is fine."
The woman and Liu Molin spoke in unison, making the atmosphere slightly awkward.
"Isn’t Caihua coming?" Yi Weiliang asked.
"She’s not coming." The woman waved it off.
Upon hearing this, Yi Weiliang went straight to order the dishes.
"Roujing, I heard you work at the workers’ hospital in the food factory. You’re really impressive." Lv Amei looked at Yi Roujing with eager eyes and asked.
"When my grandfather was alive, he was a doctor at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. It’s all thanks to his good teaching." Yi Roujing replied with a slight smile.
"I heard your husband is a teacher. Being a teacher is great." Lv Amei slapped the table excitedly.
"Mom, Weiliang works in the transport department of the food factory. He’ll be driving a truck soon, that’s really something." Liu Molin said shyly.
"Yes, yes, yes, I always knew Weiliang was capable, and he’s really promising." Lv Amei agreed repeatedly.
"Mom, why didn’t you all wait for me?" Suddenly, a booming voice came, and Liu Moli, dressed in military green, walked in with a slightly displeased expression.
"Jasmine, over here, over here." Lv Amei called, "We haven’t eaten yet, you came just in time."
Liu Molin reached out and tugged at Lv Amei, with a bit of impatience. It was one thing to act like this at home, but now they were in the county’s state-owned hotel, and under Yi Roujing’s watch, it was quite unbecoming, and she had already told her not to call her Jasmine.
This match was something Liu Molin had considered herself. She and Yi Weiliang were primary school classmates. After all, they came from neighboring production teams and often saw each other. Yi Weiliang’s good looks are evident to anyone with eyes, but the Yi family’s circumstances were average.
There used to be a doctor grandfather to rely on, but afterwards it was all farming work, what kind of future was there?
Who would have thought that Yi Roujing would marry so well? Ding Ancheng may be from Dingping Production Team, but he’s a legitimate teacher at the County First Middle School,
a steady job with a salary of dozens of yuan every month. Since she married well, the whole Yi family benefited.
More than a month ago, Yi Weiliang got into the food factory. Although he was a temporary worker, he was genuinely in the transport department. As long as he could drive independently, regularization was only a matter of time. Even if he couldn’t become a regular, with such skills, he’d have chances in other factories, especially with such a competent brother-in-law.
Liu Molin shared this idea with her mother, getting Caihua involved. Back when Caihua hadn’t married, her mother had married into Wan Tang, and they got along well, so with gifts like peach pastries and canned fruit, Caihua agreed to harmonize things.
Yi Weiliang hadn’t studied much. He stopped after elementary school. She herself at least attended middle school. Although she didn’t receive a middle school diploma, having been to middle school still sounded better.
Liu Molin was confident about her own looks, but seeing Yi Roujing today made her a little jealous. Perhaps seeing beautiful girls often, Yi Weiliang hadn’t even spared her a glance today.
Then there was Liu Moli, her younger sister. Seeing her, Liu Molin frowned slightly. The best-looking in the family was Liu Moli, and she was younger than her by two years, only nineteen. She was afraid Yi Weiliang might fancy her, so she was really happy when Liu Moli left to see friends earlier. Now it seems it’s all for naught.
"Mom, who’s this?" Liu Moli asked as she got closer, seeing Yi Roujing’s appearance, her face almost overflowing with jealousy.
"And who are you?" Yi Roujing smirked, sitting and looking at Liu Moli with disdain in her eyes.
