Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All-Chapter 226 - 198: I Want to Take Care of Little Brother! (Part 3)
"Who would do such a thing, what kind of monster would harm a child like this?"
Wei Ziang shook his head cluelessly, indicating he remembered nothing.
After dressing Wei Ziang properly, Erniang gathered her emotions, "Alright, let’s eat first, lunch should be ready, we can talk about other things after eating."
Wei Ziang nodded obediently, "Okay."
Outside, Xiaomi had been waiting the whole time, and when she saw her mother leading Wei Ziang out, she quickly rushed up, "Big brother, are you okay?"
Wei Ziang shook his head, indicating he was fine.
Up till now, he remembered Xiaomi’s instructions earlier: speak less, and definitely don’t let anyone know where he lived or that he’d met Xiaomi.
"Mom, Xiaomi, it’s time to eat." Jiang Yu came from the backyard, wearing an apron.
Upon seeing Wei Ziang, he looked slightly surprised, inspecting him a few times, "Is this the kid Xiaomi brought back?"
"Yes, big brother, his name is Wei Ziang, he’s lost his memory, so don’t bully him."
Jiang Yu pursed his lips, "Such a young kid, why would I bully him?"
Xiaomi giggled, expressing satisfaction.
The three of them headed to the backyard to eat, Aunt Yang had already set the meal on the table, and Uncle Liu was talking with Jiang Hu outside the kitchen.
Seeing Wei Ziang, Jiang Hu didn’t say much, just gestured for everyone to eat first and discuss the rest later.
Rice, a pot of pickled vegetable soup, and stir-fried radish slices with preserved meat, this was the last radish; once this one was eaten, they would have to wait for more vegetables to grow again.
Everyone chatted and ate, occasionally including Wei Ziang, though Wei Ziang continually expressed he remembered nothing, he wasn’t made to feel too left out.
However, Xiaomi’s excessive concern for Wei Ziang piqued curiosity among the family.
Plenty of children in the village, the one most familiar with Jiang’s family was Liu Hai’s younger brother, Liu Qiang, who was around a little over a year old and often came to play.
But, Xiaomi didn’t seem to care for Liu Qiang the way she did for Wei Ziang, did she?
"Wei, why are you eating so little, you’ll be hungry later," he was eating even less than Xiaomi.
Wei Ziang shook his head, "Auntie, I’m not hungry, I’ve eaten enough."
Considering his time in the space, it was actually just after dinner and bedtime.
Besides not being hungry, he was especially tired, naturally affecting his appetite.
"Mom, big brother has been yawning the whole time, I’ll take him to sleep."
Xiaomi put down her rice bowl and pulled Wei Ziang towards the front yard.
Erniang shook her head, then looked at Jiang Hu, "It’s Xiaomi’s first time being so attentive to someone."
Jiang Hu nodded, "Uncle Liu just told me about this child’s background, he was found, and apparently abandoned after losing his memory, otherwise he wouldn’t remember anything now."
Uncle Liu explained the situation again in detail, discovering Wei Ziang’s plight.
After finishing, he stroked his beard, "I reckon this kid was just abandoned, probably thrown into my servant’s quarters while unaware, otherwise no one would have seen him."
Otherwise, looking at his fair complexion, it was evident he had been well-cared for previously; how could he suddenly lose his memory and end up in Liu’s servant quarters?
Erniang frowned slightly, "Speaking of which, I noticed scars all over him while changing his clothes earlier, perhaps he was often abused at home."
Nearby, Jiang Yu kept his ears perked up, suddenly exclaiming upon hearing this, "Mom, could he have been beaten by a stepmother and then discarded?"
In a child’s mind, a stepmother is definitely something scary!
The village elders often used tales of stepmothers to frighten children.
"It’s possible, but if that’s the case, doesn’t this child have nowhere to go?"
Erniang frowned slightly, looking at Jiang Hu, "Brother Hu, seeing Xiaomi really likes him, if we chase him away, Xiaomi will be very upset, won’t she?"
Raising a child isn’t just about food and clothing.
This is still a boy, attending school aside, when he grows, he’ll need help to find a wife, and if we raise him without concern, people in the village will gossip.
Jiang Hu pondered for a moment, then sighed, "Xiaomi brought him back, we can’t just take him to town and throw him away again; should we just wait and see?"
The child seems quite adorable, according to Erniang, full of scars he appears to have endured much hardship.
More children, more blessings, the family has been doing well in recent years, especially with the harvest, Jiang Hu believes raising another child wouldn’t be difficult.
But this matter can’t be decided directly, he needs to observe, and a few days later, inquire more about the child’s situation.
