Transmigrated as a Ghost-Chapter 1144 Turning the Tide of Battle (2)
No heat emanated from the flames engulfing Lyra and her weapons.
It was not the type of fire that burned. Instead, the black flames ate away at the life force of whatever they came in contact with.
"GRRAAAAA!"
When Lyra and her clones sliced into Gronex with their kukris, the enormous Lava Dragon let out a tremendous roar as he felt his flesh being sliced into and her Underworld Flames seeping into his body.
Normally his protective scales were enough to deflect most weapons, and even the amethros blades that Lyra possessed would have a difficult time breaking through without sufficient power behind them.
Yet, clad in the black flames that she freely controlled, Gronex's resplendent purple scales turned black and brittle almost instantly upon contact.
For a few moments, the giant Lava Dragon thrashed about and tried to rip Lyra apart, but she moved swiftly and nimbly. While Marcus, Roxene, and Quillon played interference whenever he got close to hitting her or one of her clones.
Before, Lyra had been horribly ill equipped to fight against an opponent like Gronex. Except, thanks to her multiple Awakenings, she was now in the best position to deal damage to him.
'Still, it won't be enough. I bet that her attacks really sting, but she can't deal damage fast enough to bring him down. She's going to run out of stamina before we can finish this.' Marcus thought as he analyzed the battle.
However, as if she could hear his own internal thoughts without him needing to use telepathy, Lyra activated two of her unique skills to boost her power even further.
"Third Eye Awakening."
"Path of Asura."
In a flash, Lyra grew four more arms made of mana and replicas of her amethros kukris. Along with that, her other unique skill created a golden eye on her forehead which locked onto the Gronex and gave her an insight into his movements that bordered on precognition.
Of course, using these two unique skills only created a greater burden on Lyra. They were the types that did not have any limits but heavily ate away at the user's stamina.
The was also the fact that only Lyra's true body had grown four new arms and now had a very distinct golden eye popping out of her forehead.
Fortunately, her illusion magic was able to recreate this appeace on her clones as well. Making them indistinguishable from the original so long as Gronex did not use his Dragon Eyes ability. Something he was hesitant to do because of the pain he felt earlier. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"Blaze Tsunami."
Sick of Lyra's attacks, Gronex cast a tier nine fire magic spell that consumed everything around him.
It was an omnidirectional attack, and flames as hot as the surface of the sun surged forth and spread out around him.
If they had not already been in a molten wasteland, the area certainly would have been turned into one.
"Whew that was hot. You okay, Roxene?" Marcus asked.
Just as the powerful magic spell reached them, Marcus had evacuated the two of them with his Dark Portal unique skill. Regrettably, he had been unable to do the same with Lyra and Quillon. He would just have to hope that they got out in time by themselves.
"A small lick of flames like that wouldn't be able to hurt my esteemed self."
Roxene's haughty response helped to ease Marcus' apprehension a bit. If she was still able to act like that, then they were not in too much trouble yet.
"It might be time for Soul Burst, Roxene. I don't think we're going to be able to take him down otherwise." Marcus said, wearing an expression of grim determination.
He had wanted to hold off on using his all or nothing unique skills if at all possible. Especially now that he only had one use left of Ultimate Refresh to negate the negative aftereffects. That meant that Roxene would be out of the battle if they could not secure victory during their three-minute time limit.
Before they could commit to this plan though, a black blur appeared next to them and caught them off guard.
"You two need to hold off on that for a bit longer. We need to force Gronex to exhaust his Supreme Skill first. Otherwise, you two using Soul Burst will be for nothing." Lyra said.
Marcus was naturally grateful to see her alive and well, but he wondered how she knew about Gronex's Supreme Skill.
Still, he did not have time to ask her as Quillon showed up soon after in worse shape than the rest of them.
The right side of his body had been charred black, and he was barely maintaining consciousness through sheer force of will.
Immediately Marcus cast healing magic on him while Lyra pulled out an elixir and splashed it on him.
The horrid wounds quickly began to vanish, but Quillon was running low on mana and stamina.
"ROOOAAAAARRRR!!!!!"
"I guess that's the end of our respite." Marcus said, turning towards where the cacophonous roar had come from.
The cloud of smoke left in the wake of Gronex's tier nine spell was blown away, and the ruler of the molten sea sped towards Marcus, Lyra, Roxene, and Quillon. Intent on finishing the fight that he had started. His fun was only just beginning so he was not going to let it end until he was satisfied.
"Quillon, how many more of your Ten Greatest Techniques do you have?" Lyra asked urgently.
"Three. I'm not sure if even my best will be enough though. Perhaps it I combined it with my other Supreme Skill."
"No, you can't use the other one no matter what. It won't end well. Just use two and save your last one for the latter. We need to put some more pressure on him before our chance for victory will present itself."
Lyra seemed supremely confident about her plans, so Marcus, Roxene, and Quillon went along with what she wanted. They trusted her judgment, and while they had no idea how she knew certain things, there was no time to worry about it.
