Transcending Realms With My Leveling System As A Demon-Chapter 68: [Alarm!] -> [Emilia Date???]
[RING! RING!]
"I’m getting up, calm down." Zylus’s head buzzed, the alarm continuously ringing through his head.
[Stopping!]
As Zylus got up, it calmed down, slowly fading away, but the eagerness to go to the academy as he once had wasn’t there anymore. For some reason, he was calmer, stepping to the sink to pour himself some water.
Gulp, Gulp.
He gulped it calmly and quickly, smashing the glass on the marble counter right after. He peeked at what his system was displaying on a deeper level.
[Time: 7:30 AM]
"I’ll check the field first, see if that’s where class is being held today." Zylus walked to the washroom, and he took the fresh cadet clothes with him.
...
[Time: 7:40 AM]
Once he finished bathing, he put on the fresh clothes and walked out. He stepped using the same pathway he would normally take when going onto the Academy grounds.
Time went by until he began admiring the beautiful and calming scenery this gave him, yet, even through the vendors shouting at one another, kids kicking a football to each other’s faces, it still didn’t make him forget.
"Soon, the war will happen." Zylus whispered, "I have to prepare."
Zylus now realized how much he would have to carry alone, but there were still the top ten ranked, yet he didn’t have much information on them. Medrus was still dead, and they were yet to appoint a new Demon king, but that decision will most likely soon come to a close.
Once he reached closer and closer, it became more apparent how much he loves life here, away from war and constant fighting.
Loving peace in a world that thrived on conflict felt almost sinful to Zylus. Every laugh he heard, every careless smile, all of it, felt fragile. Zylus slowed his steps, breathing in deeply, committing the moment to think.
Because once the final bout begins, scenes like this wouldn’t exist anymore. And if he were to fail, this calm life he had always wished for, this fleeting normalcy that surrounded him, all of it...
Would be the first thing to disappear.
"So, they’re on the field today, I guess." Zylus spotted all of them on the field as he entered through the front gate.
They were occupied with one another, so they didn’t notice him walk by, but a smile carried onto his face, one that embraced his pure heartedness.
Whispers filled the air. He didn’t know many people in the cadet corps, so it was nothing new that he wasn’t the main attraction. His mission was never disclosed to anybody else but himself, and of course, the top hunters.
Unless those hunters spoke with some others, but otherwise, of course not.
"Z-Zylus..." A voice behind him spoke shyly, but he felt an uneasy presence, "y-you’re, already back?!"
She yelled, not too high for the others to hear, but just enough for the two of them. He turned around,
"Emilia..." Zylus’s eyes widened.
"Dumby!" She yelled cutely; her cadet uniform carried the same rich leather as before. "Have you already forgotten about me?!"
Zylus looked away, nervously smiling as a sweat droplet ran down his forehead, "o-oh, of course not."
Her expression then darkened, closing in on the distance with Zylus, and both of them stood on the edge, where not many people were around.
She grumpily walked up to Zylus as he simply accepted his fate, making that one, ’you got me,’ face.
Her continuous footsteps felt like they were getting louder by the second. Zylus closed his eyes as he saw her right palm rush into his face.
Blink.
"Silly," a tear dropped from her face, "I know where you’re going through, of course, I would never be that dumb."
Her beautifully blue colored nails, matched with her soft fingers, touched Zylus’s chin as she leaned in closer, putting her head down on his chest.
"Promise me you’ll never leave again, not without me!" She yelled; her voice carried authority, but his heart melted at the sight of her.
Zylus sarcastically smiled; he knew this was probably a promise he can’t keep. He was continuously growing stronger. For God’s sake, he didn’t even know what her powers were yet; all he knew was the item she equipped, a rapier.
"I won’t," he said, "but that’s a promise I can’t keep." He said seriously, as she raised her head off his chest.
"I’m glad," Emilia wiped the tears from her eyes, "glad that you’re at least honest." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Zylus didn’t know how to deal with this type of situation; he was never really a romantic type of guy. Every female looked at him with disgust back in his human days. It was too much of a hassle, so he simply decided to quit wanting them in general.
"I’ve come back just as I’ve promised," Zylus glanced at her intensely, "do you still believe I can’t keep promises?" He asked, hoping for a ’no.’
She wiped a tear from her eye, "n-no," Emilia stuttered because she let out a refreshing giggle, "no, I don’t."
Zylus grinned. I’ve turned to a man of culture indeed.
"But, you owe me something." She declared, placing both hands on her hips.
"What is it?" He curiously asked.
"You have to take me out to dinner on Saturday." Emilia looked away, her cheeks flushed.
"A date-?"
"No!" She cut him off smoothly, "just a regular shopping spree." Emilia embarrassingly began walking away as Zylus nodded.
"I don’t even have her address or information to do so." Zylus then looked at the text boxes in front of him, "I guess I’ll send her a system text on the location."
He cheered himself up slightly, knowing that he had finally captured a date, almost as if he had just caught a legendary Pokémon. But this moment struck his heart more than it ever had since coming into the Demon Realm.
"Fuck," Zylus whispered, looking down at his empty pockets.
And there was something he realized that he would now have to earn. Looking into the whispering horizon in front of him, today was the start of something that would never come back to him as it once did.
